If you're intrigued by the life and pontificate of John Paul II, his museum in Krakow is a fantastic place to visit. It’s filled with a diverse collection of artifacts from his various travels around the world, including some really unique items like an ornately decorated piece of ivory displayed in the main hall. Plus, the admission price is pretty reasonable compared to other popular spots around the city.

There’s a small room on the ground level dedicated to the Shroud of Turin, which is really interesting but could be a bit challenging for non-Polish speakers, as most of the explanations are not in English.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking out the John Paul II Center, especially if you’ve already hit all the major sights in Krakow. It offers a deeper, more personal look at one of the most influential figures in recent history and adds a meaningful layer to your Krakow experience.

A w każdej z nich coś szczególnego, ważnego.

An imposing sanctuary on a hilltop. Reaching it, it evokes tranquility. Nicely laid-out parking facing it. I entered it from the ground floor, leading me to a serene chapel where other small chapels of Mary and Saints are found. In the center of the big chapel is the relic of St. John Paul below the Holy Mass Altar. Around it are the different Marian portraits of the holy saint. Not far from this is a special chapel dedicated to St. John Paul's tomb with the vial relic on top of it. It is moving to pray next to the tomb. In the upper part of the Sanctuary is the huge and beautiful Church. The wall mosaic around it depicting St. John Paul's life are amazingly nice creation. One can just sit and be amazed spiritually. The most profound corner is where the exposition of the blooded cassock during the attempted assasination in 1981. Outside the Sanctuary is a museum where one can relive the life of the St. John Paul. From his childhood to the gifts he received during his 25 years of Papacy from different countries. There is an entrance fee. In the middle of the garden is a lifesize statue of Poland's beloved son. If you are not coming with your own car, ask the taxi to wait for you. There is a cafeteria. Toilet is onsite too. Sanctuary is not far from the city of Crakow. It overlooks the Basilica of Divine Mercy.

This church complex was recently built and is not completely finished. Dedicated to Pope John Paul II as the name implies. It is amazing! The cassock that Pope John Paul II was wearing when he was shot in an assassination attempt in 1981 is on display complete with blood stains. A relic of his blood is contained in a capsule in the basement chapel. Very beautiful and inspiring church.

Unfortunately was close when we got there but even from outside is impressive. Has a tower with an elevator that will take you to the viewpoint, a museum dedicated to the Pope Paul II.

Sanctuary of Saint John Paul II is located in Southern part of Krakow, called Lagiewniki.
Church is quite new as it was built in 2013. Solid octagon construction, with truly unusual interior, contains 2 separate churches on 2 levels of the building. Both levels are beautifully decorated with many colorful mosaics, truly gorgeous and very unusual. Lower level church contains relics of John Paul II, while main level church seems to be just a large hall for prayer with main altar and several chapels around main area. Doors to the main level made out of steal have reliefs corresponding with different encyclicals written by John Paul II, very interesting. Building is large and very solid, with huge plaza in front of main entry, with statue of John Paul II . There is also a small exhibition to the side of main building that tells the story of Polish Pope since his childhood.
Altogether it's a beautiful church that honors Polish Pope and currently Saint. On the day of our visit it was not very busy, I suspect because it's located off the bitten track and not many tourists know about this beautiful and interesting spot. Definitely worth visiting, solid proof that not only old churches can be beautiful.

We used the tram No 8 from the main city centre and after a short walk through the retail parks and across the station you were in the St John Paul centre.
A beautiful and peaceful place with the magnificent church and museum well worth the effort.
So surprising that there were so few general visitors (plenty and Priests and nuns who were at A conference) .To be able to see the actual cassock that he wore when he was shot was a humbling
