Good museum showcasing Wroclaw's chequered history from early times up to the present, with captions in Polish, English and German. It's housed in a former royal palace and some of the rooms are dressed as they would have looked in the 19th century. well worth a visit for anyone interested in the city's history

Wrocław is a city that I always look forward to visiting, its a compact little city full of pubs, bars ,cafe's and restaurants and some amazing architecture, walking around most any street throws up an interesting building ,a building such as City Museum Of Wrocław.
Oneof the great buildings in Wrocław is Wrocław City Museum, this is a grand looking building that's always a joy to view.
The Wrocław City Museum is a wonderful museum which is fascinating to visit ,I also love the history of it ,it was formerly Palac Krolewski ,its one of many great building around the city ,such a photogenic building, if you're walking down Ul Sukiennice it's a building to most definitely check out.

Everything you could want to know about Wroclaw's eventful history in one afternoon - presented chronologically and compactly. The audio guide is helpful, but there are also German and English labels throughout. It wasn't very busy, which is actually an advantage but also a bit of a shame. The museum deserves more visitors.

The Wroclaw City Museum consists of five individual museums/collections. We visited the Old Town Hall (Stary Ratusz) and the Palace (Palac Krolewski). The museums are mostly old-fashioned in design and show "things" but do little to create a meaningful historical context. At times I thought "well-stocked flea market". A shame considering the city's extremely interesting history. You can experience how things can be done much better at the "Silesian Museum" in Görlitz.

The Museum of the City History of Wroclaw is located in the Wroclaw City Palace. After 1750, this was the Wroclaw residence of the Prussian Hohenzollerns.
The museum covers 1000 years of city history from the Middle Ages to the recent past on three floors and is very interesting and diverse.
The beautifully landscaped baroque garden is also worth seeing.
A visit is worthwhile!

This was a very good and informative museum with a focus on Wroclaw's history, but also with an art exhibit (which was good) and our ticket also included entry to the Dali exhibit at the town hall. The history of Wroclaw/Breslau/Wratislava is extremely varied and wasn't under Polish control for 610 years, so you get a real sense of the different influences over the course of the centuries. It is a good way to spend a few hours.

A very good museum of city's history. Information is displayed in Polish, English, and German. Also included in the price of the ticket was an exhibit of Miro's drawings.

We visited as 2 couples on a weekend break to Wrocław. Keen to learn about the vast history of the area, we stumbled upon the Wrocław City Museum.
All started off well, the museum is set in stunning grounds and the artefacts and history on show are really educational.
The staff however, wow. I have never been made to feel so out of place in my whole life. I'm not sure if there's a misconception that English tourists are trouble, but we most certainly are not but were made to feel like criminals.
I placed my hand on an artefact, there was no signage, no barriers or anything to advise this was against the rules. I was merely admiring it. To my absolute horror, I was hounded upon by a sour faced member of staff, scowling at me and wagging her finger in my face whilst rutting and shouting at me in Polish. Her face was still as sour when I apologised as she proceeded to presumably call round the entire museum to alert the staff of the unruly English tourist.
The rest of the visit was absolutely laugable. Staff were following our group round rather obviously, running around corners and up stairs to make sure the next miserable member of staff was aware of our presence.
I think it's safe to say I will NOT be revisiting, and actually, I'd go as far as to advise not visiting at all unless you can speak Polish and stick up for yourself when the vile staff wish to berate you!

During our tour we walked around and we were very happy to see that there was English options to read, but that’s where the hospitality ended, my friend was shouted at aggressively and had a finger wagged at her by a very small polish lady for putting her hand on an exhibit that did not have any signage stating not to touch it and then we were very noticeably followed around the entire exhibit by over 5 different members of staff who followed us over all 3/4 floor of the building. This made us feel very uncomfortable and we were then quick to leave the museum, ultimately what could have been a great experience was turned very sour by some staff who need a lot of training in customer service skills. Clearly they do not like the tourism.
Would not recommend if you’re English.

There are seven different Museums that are part of the City Museum - at different locations. Make sure you know what you want to see before finalizing your plans.
These are the Archaeological Museum, the Historical Museum, the Museum of Medallion Art, the Museum of Military, the Museum of Bourgeois Art, the Museum of Cemetery Art and the Henryk Tomaszewski Theatre Museum.
The different museums are located at the Old Town Hall, the Royal Palace, the City Arsenal and the Old Jewish Cemetery.
Many reviews under this listing are confusing because they are only sporadically for the accurate museum. So check the website for the actual museum, location and opening times before deciding which to visit.

My great great grandparents came from Ransen, (now Reszow) to South Australia in 1860, and I am wanting to find out about their parents. Their surname was WURST and I would like to know who their parents were as we have very little information.
I am hoping that your museum may have some records of this surname?
