Очень красивое место, архитектура монастыря поражает, интерьер самого монастыря не слишком богат, но очень интересен.

I recommend everyone to visit the Lithuanian architectural masterpiece and feel the great spirit of the past. The abbey is still alive holiness Lithuania was the famous Capuchin Father Stanislav spirit . Heard his choral chants and difficult steps in the past.

Getting there from Kaunas town by trolley bus was quite easy and we had a lovely couple of hours there. Peaceful and extremely informative. Only thing no cafe at the moment.

Dotnuva is a tiny little place, but as you drive through it on the 144 road towards KEDAINAIA you can cannot ignore the massive church that you will pass.

Screech to a halt in the wide parking area opposite and prepare to be amazed.

Dotnuva Church and Monastery of the Lord Revelation for St. Mary the Virgin (Dotnuvos Viešpaties apreiškimo Švè. Mergelei Marijai bažnyèios ir vienuolyno ansamblis)

Apparently a Capuchin abbey was established here and the present buildings date from the mid 18th century.

The church is too big - it would not be out of place in a big city such as Kaunas or Vilnius and it almost looks as if a local resident had too much money.

However, the legacy is a delightful and totalled unspoiled church in the middle of nowhere. It seems unchanged - apart from decay -and therefore has great charm.

We visited it Easter Saturday when it was decorated out for the Easter festivities.

The Priest's father also gave us a personal guided tour of the largely disused Monastery attached to it, and a fabulous and unique collection of hundreds of church vestments some of which date back hundreds of years
