This is a good venue in general. But be aware that even in summer, the evenings can get VERY cold very quickly- you will feel the cold if you're seated near the edge of the audience, and you may even get rained on. Tickets read No Umbrellas but they seem to be allowed in. Intermission bars are chaotic and slow because they are understaffed, you will be lucky to get a drink before the end of the interval, even if you line up a few minutes after the interval starts. A few weeks ago in July (summer?) the ceiling radiator heating for the first 1/4 of the front was broken, and it was a cold night, too cold for just a shirt and medium weight woollen jacket. So airways being warm clothes, and a blanket. The blanket can also be used to sit on the fairly uncomfortable wooden benches that make up most of the seating- try to get seats in the first 1/3 where there are individual seats. Seating room on those long necks is squashed with little room, as the seat numbers are not clearly makes with lines on the bench so people coming early take up a lot of room- so get started early. This isn't meant to be a negative review, just some actual experience so you can enjoy the evening more by avoiding the annoyances. It really is a magical place, but let down by a few niggling problems.

This Concert Hall complex includes a wooden concert hall built in the 1930s – the Small Hall, and the summer concert garden built in the 1960s – the Great Hall.
A great variety of concerts are performed, from folk and classical music to rock and pop music. There are annual jazz and classical music festivals.
The Small Hall combines features of Classicism and National Romanticism. The old, restored wooden interior with rows of seats surrounded by columns has excellent acoustics. The Small Hall can seat up to 500.
The open-air Great Hall is open only in the summer. It has over 2,000 seats.
The park in front of the concert halls is especially stunning with many blooming flowers.
On our trip, there would have been only a Russian stand-up show from which we wouldn't have understood anything.

I've been to concerts twice at Dzintaru Koncertzale over the summer, both for Russian pop-rock bands (go figure the kind of artists being booked here), and it must be said that the venue is a strange one. Venues in Rīga are getting few and far between these days, which may be a reason why booking agents are looking to Jūrmala now to book artists - and thankfully trains run late between the two cities.
For Dzintaru Koncertzale though, I'm at a bit of a loss as to why it seems so popular. The "venue" is more just a stage in a fenced off area of the seafront promenade, with a roof over the top and no walls to speak of. This means the sound quality inside is pretty poor, especially towards the front, sides, or back. There is also no standing area; the hall is entirely seated - this is fine for some of the events they host here, but when they try to host a more fun band like Leningrad, for example, this poses a problem.
Finally, and perhaps even weirder considering it is an outdoors venue, you cannot take drinks from the bars into the seating area. This policy is pretty ridiculous even in an indoors venue that hosts music, but for an outdoor one hosting Russian bands that sing about, mostly, drinking? It's quite laughably ironic, especially when Akvarium came on for their encore: "Все говорят, что пить нельзя," indeed. What makes it worse is that the signs saying you cannot take drinks to the seats are only on the way back in; not on the way out or even, where they should be, at the bar. At least you can still see the stage while you are waiting to be allowed back in.
Considering that tickets for any seats that aren't towards the back are quite expensive for most events in this venue anyway, I'm surprised people still bother to go there. You can normally see the same acts in Arena Rīga within 6 months for a lot less money and better sound, and bring a drink into the gig to boot. When the concert was over, the ushers also blocked off some of the outdoor pathways for seemingly no reason, meaning everyone had to walk an incredibly convoluted route that caused congestion instead of simply walking onto the street through the gates we came in by - so you may want to leave a little bit before the real end of the gig if you need to catch the last train back to Rīga.
