We have done a pontoon boat tour and an airboat tour with Ron and he has been great. Very knowledgeable of the wildlife and easy going, happy to try and show you whatever you are interested in. There is wildlife everywhere...

The lake is natural but everything else consists of connecting (and some non-connecting) canals built by the Army Corps of Engineers. They are teeming with animals wherever you look.

The airboat gives you unlimited access to all the areas and is fun but loud. You will see more animals and cover the areas quickly but will spook animals due to the noise. This lets you see more animals but they may not be close enough for good photos

The pontoon boat is more calm, quiet but limited in terms of time spent and inaccessibility to non-interconnected waterways. But, you can get up pretty close to birds and gators for photos.

I went on an airboat ride and it was spectacular. We didn’t see any gators but the osprey and the trees growing in the lake are beautiful. I would love to go back and kayak on this lake.

Your map on here is way off though.

Many people are unaware Vero Beach has a ten mile lake just East of Yeehaw. My husband and I have been going out to this lake since we were kids. This area was home to several large Indian tribes back in the day. Many Indian artifacts have been found along the edges of the lake. There is a fish camp that rents small cottages on the west canal in blue cypress village and several people own individual cabins that are available for rent as well. There is a nice boat ramp, and allocated camping areas for tent or Rv camping. You will see lots of gators, so obviously it’s not the safest place for swimming, however we typically can find a shallow area close to the shore to hop in and cool off. I don’t fish so I’m not sure how good the fishing is but we do always see people fishing. This is an airboat friendly lake as well, but it does tend to get a bit choppy towards the middle of the lake.

My husband and I, and two friends, drove about an hour to get there. The drive was reminiscent of Old Florida, and the lake was really beautiful. Lots of ospreys, lots of cypress trees. It was a bit cold out, but worth it anyway. We also saw a few alligators which was very cool. Our guide, Don, was a real treasure. Lived there for a long time and had a lot of interesting information to share with us.

BCL is a very powerful, deadly lake. Its 470 times over the limit for toxins. Where did the biosolid(poop) bone from? Pressley Ranch. They've been dumping into the lake for 6yrs, with the approval of FDEP Although they did NOT notify Fellsmrre county officials. There's a 6month moratorium on further dumping of biosolids on county lands. Read Indian River Neighborhood Assoc. 12/2018. Organisms called Cyanobacteria Microcystis aeruginosa & Microcystis wesenbergi. Powerful toxins!!!!!!!

I just experienced this lake buy an air boat. Airboat Wilderness Rides took my family and I out on the lake. I now have a new appreciation for alligators and Florida wildlife like I had never had before. Miles of beautiful plants, animals and so many amazing things that I don’t think that I could’ve seen if I had not been on this air boat. What a great experience love this park! Thank you Blue Cypress and Thank you Airboat Wilderness Rides!!

Recently, Lynn and I and 8 photographer friends spent a morning on Blue Cypress Lake. We were on two pontoon boats with a guide on each boat. We got on the boat at the only access on the Lake, Middleton's Fish Camp. The lake is about ten miles long and is notable for it's many, hundreds of Cypress trees that are along the edges of the lake. Many of these Cypress trees have Osprey nests in the trees. It is thrilling to photograph the Osprey as they are bringing fish and other fresh caught food back to the nest. We noticed several fishermen on the Lake as well. This lake is hidden, peaceful and a little bit of Florida forgotten. Our guide, Russ was exceptional. Though this was only his 8th time guiding a group. He had grown up on the Lake and was really knowledgeable about it's birds, trees and other wildlife.

Blue Cypress Lake is a beautiful lake, known for great fishing. We were on the lake to witness the nesting activity of the Osprey. Each year the lake hosts one of the highest congregations of nesting activity in the country. As photographers we were very excited to witness this amazing photo-op. We accessed the lake at Middleton's Fish Camp. There are boat rentals, and charming waterfront efficiencies availabile for rent. We spent a three day weekend there, and found ourselves wanting more adventure time on Blue Cypress Lake...

We did a beautiful sunset kayak paddle along the shore of Blue Cypress Lake. Osprey were plentiful and the lighting was perfect.
