This summer I went back to the Olympic Peninsula and re-visited some places I haven't been to in 50 years as well as some new ones. The whole Olympic Peninsula is amazing and the Olympic National Park a jewel of that part of the world. Port Angeles, Port Townsend and the many other towns and cities of this vast area all bring back tastes of the great outdoors. It really doesn't matter what your inclination is, fishing, history, remote nature, or gathering berries on one of the many islands, , , your desires could be well satiated.
A wonderful place to anchor your explorations is A Hidden Haven, an incredible garden in the woods that can be your sanctuary from which to explore. I was blown away by the waterfalls, fish ladders, massive forest trees and rhododendrons scattered through the woods. Each of the hidden cottages seem to have their own unique character to welcome you home after a day exploring.

All of the Olympic Peninsula is a multi-day destination. Besides the big sights found at Olympic National Park (Hurricane Ridge and Hoh Rain Forest), the Peninsula offers much more for families, couples, and travelers. The Peninsula is gorgeous, rugged, and lush. The western coastline is wildly beautiful and scenic. The northern portion offers the must see scenic sights, although get to these sights early since the parking lots and trails can fill up late morning or in the early afternoon. The Hood Canal drive was a pleasant surprise. So beautifully scenic, quieter, and some great hikes. There are also nice quaint towns and friendly people. A few top notch restaurants can also be found here, since the ingredients can be fresh and seasonal. So take the time to spend quality time in this stunning part of the northwest.

Die Olympic Peninsula ist einfach traumhaft: Seeeehr viel Natur mit Bergen, Meer, Regenwald, Tieren, Stränden, etc. Man muss mehrere Tage einplanen und die Hotels rechtzeitug buchen. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Still in the middle of the trip. First warning...beware of added fees, taxes and deposits. So far it seems that everything we've done, from the rental car at the airport- 40% added taxes and fees - to lodges in the park - deposits range from a nominal $10 to a $130 per night deposit to a Bainbridge hotel's $25 per day "amenity" fee and a restaurant's 5% automatic kitchen tip fees - has so.e added, previously undisclosed fee. Why can't these places just be honest and include all this stuff in their upfront pricing.? Seems to be a real honesty problem out here or inability to face reality. If they need 5% more for the price of a meal to cover the payroll for the kitchen staff then raise the damn price and stop pretending. If you can't cover the cost for a parking lot or the bag of M&Ms in a hotel then raise the damn rate. Stop trying to advertise your products for less than what it cost to provide them. Try honest advertisement for a change and face the truth...the cost to travel through the Olympic Peninsula is more than what the marketers want you to believe. Not that it's outrageously expensive, just be honest. It gets really annoying that everywhere we go there's another line to initial accepting an additional charge. I initialed less buying a house than what I've done in the last four days of this trip.

Nel mio viaggio di ritorno da Seattle verso la California ho scelto di dedicare ancora un po’ di tempo allo Stato di Washington e di percorrere in macchina la strada che mi ha permesso di vedere un po’ più approfonditamente la Olympic Peninsula; ci si può arrivare con un traghetto da Edmonds o da Seattle oppure un pò più a sud percorrendo la Hwy 101 o la US 16 ed è questa la strada che ho utilizzato. Man mano si sale verso nord ci si avvicina al Canada e quasi lo si vede quando si arriva nella cittadina di Port Angeles; ci sono altre piccole città ogni tanto ma non molto degne di nota, tipo Forks; qualunque itinerario si sia seguito, di quelli sopra descritti, si finisce comunque con il percorrere la Hwy 101 e da qui ogni tanto si possono ammirare bellissimi panorami, quando sei al confine con il Canada o quando sei nelle vicinanze di un lago (Crescent Lake è forse il più importante), o anche quando ti inoltri in parte nella Olympic National Forest. Il mio scopo era di vedere quale natura avrei trovato e sono rimasto soddisfatto in pieno.

O trecho não tem muitas atrações para exploração, no entanto, foi um percurso necessário para completarmos a visita ao Olympic Park. Passamos por pequenas cidades e tomamos um delicioso sorvete artesanal no caminho.

A fantastic trip for a family with teens is hiking and camping in the Olympic National Park, and above all other places there you must see the Hoh Rain Forest and hike the Hall of Mosses. We camped in the Hoh Campground (first come first serve) and scored a great campsite by the river in loop C (#65) which was walking distance to the visitor’s center and the beginning of three different hikes - Hall of Mosses, Spruce Nature Trail and the Hoh River Trail. The beauty is breathtaking! Definitely one for the bucket list.

Alles wunderschön und abwechslungsreich:
Berge, Schnee, wilde Tiere ganz aus der Nähe.
Wasser, Küste, Felsen. Wir haben von Cape Flattery einen Seelöwen im Meer schwimmen sehen.
Bäume, Sträucher, blühende Blumen.
Nicht so sehenswert: Die Orte. Halt sehr amerikanisch, ohne Charme. Begeistert hat uns allerdings der Joyce General Store. Ein über hundert Jahre alter Tante Emma Laden, wirklich spannend.
Berge, Schnee, wilde Tiere ganz aus der Nähe.

Wild! Only one big town - Aberdeen. Otherwise you drive for miles with nothing but trees. Then road works and takes one hour to cover 10 miles. 17 plus mikes in to each location in National Park. You need plenty of time and a reason to come. If it rains it's a dead loss.

Most of this peninsula is the Olympic National Park, which is spectacular and filled with wonderful hikes to waterfalls and other things such as the Hoh Rainforest. There are a number of lively and interesting towns such as Sequim, Port Angeles, Port Townsend.
And interesting things to visit such as the Olympic Game Farm.

My sister and I are interested in driving from Victoria BC (by ferry of course) alone the Olympic Peninsula, and perhaps along the northern part of the Oregon Coast. We usually go to Anacortes every year, but want to expand our trip this year. We will only have about 6 days/nights. What would you suggest? We like small towns, don't drink, don't need night life, except maybe a local play to watch.
