Like the FBI Headquarters, this government building is NOT open to the pubic, NOT a tourist attraction!

I used to work at both buildings and it took me more than 6 months before I could access them. Though I had clearance, I still needed to be met at the Front Entrance (after showing my identification to the Security Personnel ) by our own staff permanently based at these buildings. They also had to escort me when I had to go to other areas of the building.

Other Option: Take pictures of the outside areas of this Building.

This is the headquarters of our national prosecution as well as related matters. While you might disgree with individual decisions, the employees are well trained and educated.

This is not, in my eyes, an especially distinguished building, down close to the highly-impressive National Archives in Washington DC. But, its particular memory-worthy distinction is that it is, (built in 1935, and significantly renovated in 2006) now dedicated to a fine, charismatic American called Robert Francis Kennedy (or "Bobby", as those of us who remember him in life, will always call him).

Bobby was a younger Brother of President John F. Kennedy (murdered in Dallas, Texas in November 1963), served as the 64th U.S. Attorney-General, and, later as a U.S. Senator for New York. Running as a candidate for the Democratic Party Presidential Nomination in 1968, he was cruelly shot-down in an Hotel in California, on June 6th 1968, having just celebrated victory in his Party's California Primary.

Republican President George W. Bush, generously re-dedicated this Building to Bobby Kennedy on November 20th 2001, which was the deceased RFK's Birthday.

Remember Bobby as you pass by - I certainly do!

Built between 1931 and 1934 for $10 million dollars, this building was completed in 1935. It houses the Department of Justice and the Office of the U.S. Attorney General. It has 68 murals of New Deal Art.

In 2001, it was renamed for the 64th U.S. Attorney General, Bobby Kennedy. The building itself is very solemn and imposing.

I was quite impressed with this building as we walk by. It also houses the Attorney General. You can not go in but you can admire the architecture. I liked the buffalos that were displayed on the facade.

If you come down 9th Street towards the National Mall, you can't miss this fine Building, sited between Pennsylvania & Constitution Avenues (just across the way from the better-known National Archives Building).

This is the Headquarters of the U.S. Department of Justice, and houses the Office of the U.S. Attorney General. An imposing structure, seven stories high, and located in what's known as the "Federal Triangle", it was designed in Classical Revival style, and was completed in 1935. Major renovations were made to the Building, early in the current century, with a major emphasis placed on conservation and significant re-use of existing materials.

Known originally simply as the "Department of Justice Main Building", it was re-named the "Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice Building", in 2001, in a re-dedication address given by (then) President George W. Bush.

Robert F. Kennedy (often referred to as RFK, or, simply "Bobby") was a younger Brother of the 35th President, John F. Kennedy, and served, with distinction, as his Attorney General - he continued in that role for a short period, under 36th President, Lyndon B. Johnson. RFK was later elected a Senator for the State of New York, and while holding that Office, became a Candidate for the Democratic Party Presidential Nomination : he was assassinated, in California, in June 1968, having just celebrated winning that State's Primary Election Contest - he was 42 years of age.

Robert Kennedy is buried in a simple grave at Arlington National Cemetery, close to the JFK Grave-Site. The dedication of the Department of Justice Building to him, as 64th Attorney General of the United States, seems fitting and appropriate - remember him as you pass by !
