PROS
* Major transportation traffic artery
* Connects modern and ultra sleek glass commercial Roslyn to historic scenic Georgetown
* Famous and scenic at main major location
* For cars and walkers/joggers/runners and even bicycles
* Yes, it’s full name is the Francis Scott Key Bridge, named for the author of our national anthem, and here’s why- his home was at the Georgetown terminus of this bridge.
CONS
* Noisy and not quiet
* Often traffic congestion
* People on the walkway need to cross major traffic thoroughfares to access and egress the bridge
“I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
… every day for years from 1978-1981.
Now I returned and drove from northern Virginia into D.C. the area of Roslyn is even more built up.
I remembered that morning in December 1980 when I was stuck in stand still traffic on this very same bridge and listened to the radio and learned that John Lennon had died the night before that.
I was also stuck on that bridge after sundown in January 1982 when I heard about the Air Florida crash.
And then I remembered all the times that Mrs. Place and I always walked across this bridge, and that was before she became Mrs. Place.
So this bridge has history for me.
ADVICES
If this bridge has history or meaning for you, then visit it.
Otherwise, it’s not an essential on any tourist agenda.

This bridge has vehicles whizzing past. The noises are not good at all. The noises make it impossible to have a relaxed time at river's edge. Bridge itself looks old.

Having lived in Washington DC and driven this bridge so many times, I did not know its full name: Francis Scott Key Bridge! Locals only know it as KEY BRIDGE, a short bridge that connects K Street to M Street/Georgetown.
Towards the end of this bridge is the Francis Scott Key Memorial Park. See my related review of this attraction.

Key Bridge is the name known and called by locals. The offial name is "Francis Scott Key Bridge'. It is an icon and prominent landmark bridge across the Potomac river in Georgetwon and Rosslyn. It was registered as National Historic Landamark in 1996, It was built and completed in 1932 as a bridge to carry traffic across the river and is believed that it is the oldest survival of its kind in Washington D.C. area. If you are in water or at the waterfront in Georgetown, you will see a very prominent ach bridge across the river. There are also paths on both sides of the bridge for pedestrians. Greatway to see the river and to get the water breeze when walking across the bridge.
