This small park is to honor Francis Scott Key, the author/composer of the National Anthem of USA. There is a small statue of this man located here and several plaques explaining his historical contributions.
Several benches are located near the park for one to rest and enjoy the surroundings. Behind this park are steps to go down to the C & O Canal Path and Potomac River.
I enjoyed my visit here!

This is a small, bt well kept park that can be easily overlooked if you're not paying close attention. There is some information, and a small bust of Key in the park. Can be seen in 5 minutes or less before heading out of or going into Georgetown. Access is somewhat difficult also.

The park is at the end of Key Bridge in Georgetown. There is a small statue of Francis Scott Key and some information about him to American history. The memorial was built by the Francis Scott Key foundation and was donated to the Park Services later. There are some nice patches of wooded area with wild flowers. Visitors who stroll along the C&O canal can visit the park of the end canal walk right at the bridge. Visitors walking on the Key bridge from Rosslyn can stop the park before wondering into the busy street of Georgetown or going down to the C&O canal for the walk.

I really enjoyed crossing the bridge with the beautiful view of the Georgetown University, and then stopping at the Park before walking around the restaurants and shops and eventually walking to Georgetown.
This a really beautiful area, highly recommeded for any trip to DC.

There is a small public space along 34th and M in Georgetown known as the Francis Scott Key Memorial Park. This is a small area of public ground that was dedicated as a city park in 1993. You can walk through and all in 2-3 minutes.
Here you find two split colonnades with vines and foliage, creating a nice bit of shade. There are three information panels providing historical accounts of these area, information about Francis Scott Key and how the Star Spangle banner came to be. There is also a commemorative bust of Francis Scott Key.
The park was full of pink rose bushes which were in bloom during my May visit, making this a neat place during that time. The famous Georgetown (D.C.) Cupcakes is one block away. This could be a good spot to rest your feet and enjoy a cupcake.

The park itself is nicely located close to the Potomac River in Georgetown. When you are in Georgetown for a tour, it is definitely worth stopping by here. You could combine it with a walk down at the river.
The park is dedicated to the poet writing the text for the national anthem. Everything you need to know can be learned in the park.
Hint: Check out the flag in the park and look at it very closely. I'm pretty sure that most of the people (probably 99%) passing by miss it. There is a very high chance that you won't see such a flag again at the site of any US Memorial.

This small park is a beautiful example of good city planning and it truly is an oasis of calm in the hustle and bustle of Georgetown. It is well-kept and a nice place to spend time reflecting.
