Our family took a hike in the Lost Dutchmen State Park on the Jacob's Crosscut trail. We saw a jack rabbit on our way back. The cactus plants were neat to look at and some were so big the base looked like the wood on the base of a regular tree.

We hike the Treasure Loop trail in April. Great views, cacti in bloom. We got off the loop at the top - no trail markings that we could see - so we had to backtrack about 1/4 mile. From the parking lot, this trail was about 3 miles. Recommend for pretty much everyone with reasonable strength and endurance. We're 70 and had no trouble.

What a beautiful state park. We stayed in the campground for 3 nights. Easy access from Route 88 and it is well sign-posted from the road. Checkin was efficient. Peaceful, quiet setting at the base of Superstition Mountain surrounded by Saguaros and other native desert plants, yet within 5 miles of stores and restaurants. The scenery is stunning. Roads are paved and easy to navigate in any size rig. Sites are large and well spaced with a paved parking spot and crushed stone picnic area with table and grille/fire pit. Everything is very well maintained. Our site had water and electric. Not all sites do, so check the on-line reservation site for amenities. There is a dump station easily accessible on the entry/exit road. Lots of trails available. Nice fenced dog park at the end of our loop, a first for us in state parks. We had good T-mobile signal. We will return here for sure. The park is very popular so book early.

We stopped here mid-afternoon on a Saturday in January. We had this on our list of places to check out because we are intrigued by all the stories about the Superstition Mountains.
We stopped at the entrance where there is a small gift shop with swag, snacks and a flush toilet. The fee to enter is $10 per car.
The park has several trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking and equestrian riding. They also have overnight camping and day-use areas with picnic tables.
We went on a short hike and took some pics of Superstition Mountains and surrounding area. There were several informational signs which describe some of the landscape, native animals and plants as well as stories of the Superstitions. Overall it was a beautiful park and we thought it would be a great place to camp in the future as well!

We stayed at this campground on 2 different occasions. Our first spot number 24 was great. Very spacious and had some privacy from other campers. Our second spot number 97, I did not like. It was close to other campers in a tight area. Overall, the park is nice. Has clean bathrooms and lots of trails to go hiking. It's close to shopping.

We got an early start, 7:30 AM on a late October morning, hiking Treasure Loop #56. We paid our $7 entrance fee then parked at the Cholla Day Use lot, going counterclockwise on the loop. The sun was starting to rise over Superstition Mountain and made for spectacular views behind us. The trail is very well marked with signs. At the top there is a white bench and a sign for Prospectors View to the left but the Treasure Loop continues to the right, down some steps. A bit slippery there with some loose rocks but easy going otherwise. The park rates this trail as moderate but it’s such a gradual climb up with wide paths that I would rate it as easy. The loop ends at the Saguaro Day Use lot. It took us an hour and a half to do the loop and both parking lots were quite full by then. Back at the entrance gate, we walked the Native Plant Trail. Keep your eyes to the ground to see a description of all the trees and cacti along the flat, 0.2 mile/ 0.4 km loop. So nice to put a name to all the things we’ve been seeing while driving around Arizona!

So close to Phoenix yet nice campsites, good prices, and nice view. Far enough away to have a bit of wilderness but close enough to have access to civilizations. The hiking trail right from the camp ground is good also. Dogs need to be supervised closely for the are a lot of dangerous cacti.

Trails, camping, and stunning views of the Superstition Mountains. It is $7 to park your car and not sure of the camping pricing. Bring plenty of water!!!! Plenty of flora and fauna giving you the perfect feel of the AZ desert.

I'm not sure what photos you are looking at, but I went to a web site called campsite photos...and, well ...they are photos...and are pretty accurate. If you are tent camping be sure to bring a rake or some way to clear the pebbles...or better yet, bring a camping cot/sleeping pad. It is a very clean park and the RV sites are quite nice. I went with the family camping group last December and it was toasty in the day and chilly at night. Have FUN ;-)

Is this park safe for a solo female traveler to hike? Are the trails usually pretty busy?

It is safe for solo female hikers. There is always an outlet and I did not see any unwanted people there.
What is the camping cost ? Do the camp sites have Full hook-ups?

I see on the AZ State Parks website that the camping sites have electricity...do they also have water? Also, are reservations needed in January or February?
