We stayed at a cabin for two nights. Quite small; not really a cabin, but a detached hotel room in size. The floor was filthy! Our feet were black and disgusting. We did a wine tasting - it was $2 per tiny taste! They didn't even comp the tastings when we bought four bottles of wine. Expensive place all around and definitely not worth it.

The bad reviews make me sad. It’s a gorgeous place. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. Wine tasting was $1 per taste which I think is extremely reasonable. We got our food in a timely manner. Hope everyone keeps in mind that right now 99% places are super low on staff and they’re most likely new at that with covid crap. Give some grace people. I took Home 12 bottles.

My husband rented a cabin last weekend for our anniversary. We got to take our baby, Milo (our dog). We all had a great time. Beautiful scenery, the staff was fast and accommodating, the food and wine was delicious. We both can’t wait to go back again.

Manager was impossible to work with. Would not even entertain the idea of us having a party there b/c I mentioned my son had gotten married. We need the smaller room b/c we would like a belated party for only about 70 people (a very non-traditional "wedding reception," but b/c I used those words she flat out told me no. Very short in any e-mail correspondence. A shame, but now I would never even consider them again.

The scenic beautiful grounds can't possibly compensate for managements inability to serve people. I didn't want to believe the other bad reviews...been coming here for a decade+ and knew there was new management, but we should have been more receptive.
This place had/has so much beauty and potential. Its been lost among great-grandmas tacky artificial flowers, dirty bathrooms and bartenders wearing tacky graphic t-shirts of automatic rifles, touting the 21st amendment, complete with bullets strewn about. Literally. They even sell them. (t-shirts, not rifles or bullets :P). If this is your cup of tea, so be it, but for those of us who find shooting things as unnecessary or off-putting, it adds to the overall crude experience. But that's a matter of opinion. On to facts.
Either the kitchen or staff is absolutely ill-equipped to handle food orders (see prior reviews). We had a large party of around 14. Arrived around 1pm. People were warning us to order early; it was taking an hour or more to get food.
4pm- ordered food
4:20pm- Noticed others who'd ordered had gotten a #sign to stand on their table. We didn't get one. Returned to bar, patiently waited in line to ask if I should've gotten a #. Rudely and without apology handed a # over.
5pm- no food, but not surprised; it'll come eventually, right?!>(umm, no.)
6pm- staff person is blanketly informing everyone at all tables the kitchen is backed up, but reassures food is coming. So we believed them. (Suckers.)
7-8pm- (pretty tipsy now, been drinking since 1pm, no food) Return to bar line. Patiently wait with my earned # and ask if its ready. "The kitchen is closed now".
Seriously? Unapologetically so. Ok, so this place:
- cannot accommodate orders on a rainy, cold, low-crowd day
-prohibits patrons from bringing their own food
- closes the kitchen early, shortly after reassuring patrons that foods coming
-does not extend the courtesy of informing guests they will not be served
- does not proactively issue refunds
-there are no other nearby restaurants
-even if there were, we'd been drinking all day and unable to drive
-offers no alternative or recourse food
Our group had rented 6 cabins to avoid driving after drinking. so basically we were unable to have access to any food (minus the muffin provided in-cabin) our entire time there, after drinking all day and staying the night.
I confronted the manager and stated the timeline above. Instead of acknowledging any accountability, he responded in a manner that I was in the wrong for complaining and was annoyed that I was annoyed. I called him out on it. he then begrudgingly offered up a packed up box of cold nachos for about 6 people who didn't get food or the all their food. Oh well, at least I didn't get shot. Yee haw!

I will begin by listing the positive features of Hidden Lake Winery: beautiful scenery overlooking the lake with a spacious indoor venue offering many seating options, a stage for a live band, and a dance floor. The food was satisfactory however, the kitchen was backed up with food orders. I had absolutely no problem with that and I appreciated that prior to placing my order I was given a heads up that it would take 2 HOURS to receive my food. Again, that wasn't an issue for me and I understood.
I was with a large party and my husband and I were the last of the group to arrive, everyone in my group already placed their food and drink orders, we all also bought many bottles of wine and other alcoholic beverages. When my friend's order arrived, she was missing part of her order. She notified the server of this immediately and instead of checking to see what happened and how soon she would get the rest of her food, the waitress rudely walked away from our table while we were still speaking and simply asking about what was missing. She never came back to our table. We ignored her poor customer service and resumed having a good time. Nearly 2 hours after I placed my order, my friend still had not received the other portion of her meal.
She and I went up to the bar where orders were being taken and was approached by the female owner, Angela. We simply asked her about the status of our orders and explained that we understood the wait would be 2 hours for my order, we just wanted to know how much longer my friend should wait for the other part of her order because by this time it was an hour or more after she received part of her food order which was already cold by this time.
Angela immediately displayed frustration, irritation and disrespect. She turned away from us, looked at her husband Steve (the other owner), rolled her eyes, and held her hand up in a dismissive manner. While my friend remained calm and polite in the beginning, Angela continued to be disrespectful which began to aggravate my friend, so I calmed her down and luckily, Steve stepped in, apologized on behalf of his wife and treated us with the respect and courtesy we deserved.
It is important that I explain that our large group of people were the only African Americans there and this is the only reason we could come up with as to why Angela behaved in such a condescending way towards us. I am grateful for Steve's empathetic customer service as he offered to refund what I paid for my food and still ensured that we received our orders anyway. Even though Steve saved the day, I would forewarn any person of color, especially African Americans, to avoid Hidden Lake Winery due to the prejudiced treatment we received from Angela and advise you to spend your time and money at a different winery where everyone will treat you with dignity and respect. As for me, that was my first and last time going there and it's a shame because if it had not been for Angela's overtly prejudice behavior, I would have loved to visit again. BE WARNED! #BLACKLIVESMATTER

Wish I could give zero stars. Horrible experience. No precautions taken regarding COVID. Waited over an hour for food then gave up and asked for money back. Had to wait another thirty minutes for that. Yelled at, so rude, no apology. Absolute worst winery I've ever been to.

Have stopped at Hidden Lake Winery multiple times. I like the winery's location... tucked into the woods overlooking a lovely pond. Have always found a wine that I could sip while taking it all in and relaxing.

We used to be regulars at this place, but no longer. In fact, we will never go there again. Don't know if it has a new owner or new management, but they are unfriendly and have let the place go to hell. Broken fan blade, tabletops so dirty we wouldn't have ordered any food. They charge way too much for wine tasting. That is the biggest RIPOFF in the world. We can buy the wine cheaper in the grocery store, but yet they want to charge for a tiny taste before charging $20.00 for a bottle. Two many really nice places to go on both sides of the river to go to a dunp like this. Try Copper Dock instead. It is close to Hidden Lake.

Planned on ordering a bottle of wine. Needed to taste to know what we liked. Charged a $1.00 for every taste. What a gimmick! Why would you buy a bottle of wine for $20 when you have no idea if you like it or not. Every place I have been to before would at least give you a small taste before you bought. Food prices our very high also.
