Jabi Lake is arguably Abuja's most well-known lake. This 1,300 hectare lake is a man-made body initially created to provide water to the indegenes of Abuja, F.C.T. It later became a tourist location and fishing spot after the Usuma Dam was built. There is a recreational park attached to the lake called Jabi Park, which is commonly used for picnics, casual family outings and outdoor sports. There aren't very many activities except for boat and kayak rides that one can take across the lake. This makes it a popular go-to-place that families with kids and tourists to flock to.
The Jabi Lake Mall- one of Abuja's most celebrated and popular malls is attached to the lake, and perhaps hence it's name. You can access it from the mall's ground and basement floors. The lake provides a beautiful, scenic waterfront backdrop to the mall. A winding lane/pathway at the edge of the lake is a great track for long walks or jogging. I liked the cool metal structures in human form on the lake's grassy banks. There were about half a dozen of them; (refer to my posted pictures). They added a funky, quirky touch to the stunning landscape. 😍
I visited Jabi Lake via the basement level of the Jabi Lake Mall with my daughter, and we were disappointed to see that the lake was dirty and the surroundings unkempt. The water was murky, muddy and had turned to a horrible brown colour; YUCK!!! 🤮 There was tons of trash and litter laying around on the grass, by the lake's edge. And it looked like it had been laying there for days! We went to a balcony on the first/ground floor of the mall for a better vantage point, as opposed to from the basement level. The lake has great potential for a flurry of activities, but they need to do a better job with maintainance.
Word is that the Jabi Lake and surrounding Jabi Park is a lovely place to watch the sun set. Even though we didn't witness a sunset during our visit, the view was nevertheless really awesome. Again, the best view of the lake is from the upper level balcony of Jabi Lake Mall. Besides, with the Jabi Lake Mall as the lake's backdrop- (from the park side), though artificial, provides an interesting fusion of the modern and the organic, the urban and the natural. The lake's calmness and serenity are ideal and it's an awesome spot for relaxation.
When I found out that Jabi Lake had it's own TripAdvisor page, I was frankly quite surprised. Thought it would just be for the mall or park. Doesn't appear that there would be much to say about a stagnant, artificial 'element'. It seems weird to do a whole review solely about a 'body of water', so I was confused as to how to rate it. However, to visit a famous lake and see that it is as dirty as Jabi Lake was, was a huge letdown! ☹ They like seriously need to clean up that atrocious garbage laying all over the damn place! Nevertheless, Jabi Lake provides a scenic, calm and tranquil view to sit back and relax. It's an idyllic ecotourism destination in the heart of Nigeria's capital. Though I don't regret paying this lake a visit, I honestly don't see what the fuss is all about! 🙄 I think I was really turned off by all that filth, but I guess it's still an okay place to come to.

When I am in Abuja, I frequently visit Jabi Lake Mall. I love sitting, under cover, in one of the restaurants by the lake. If it gets too hot, I slip into the mall and have an ice cream or a frozen yogurt.

Do u pay for space in jabi lake for business or entertaining others??
Hadley
Abuja, Nigeria29 bidrag
You don't have to pay for "space" to entertain people....you pay for the food and drinks. This also dependson what part of Jabbi Lake you are on. There is a part where daily exercise and fun sessions happen and you can have a great picnic/time with friends at no-pay. You could also have a hangout at the boat club, or other sitouts where you havr to buy drinks and food from the vendors...across the lake is a mall with all kinds of hangout joints.Great experience though whichever you decide to take
Hi, is there a gate fee into the jabi lake and if there is, how much?

There is no gate fee.
I would like to host a reception at the lake, please what steps do I have to take or could I just do so without any restrictions?
Adaba Tonna
Abuja, Nigeria47 bidrag
Well, it depends on where you want to host the event. You would still have to get authorization from the appropriate authorities, either from the joint you plan to use or from the mall authorities if you want to use their open spaces.
What is the cost for a "boat ride" for school children? We are coming for an excursion...

For the public section of the park, they charge #500 per ride & the no of riders must be up to 6 before they can take off hence a minimum of 3k for each trip, though you can negotiate if you are more than 6.
Then for the Jabi Boat ride club behind Nero hotels,
I got to find out from the attendant that They do offer 'happy hour' usually on Tuesday/Wednesday 12pm - 6pm.
Here is the general price overview
