View is 5/5, make sure to visit in evening. Limited but great food menu. Great lineup. The drinks is amazing. I tried a "balanced diet" and it was great.

The location is fantastic. The personell were very nice, polite, professional and service minded. The food I had was very satisfying.
The liquor, unfortunately, was far from good. It had a pungent, unpleasant, and long lasting taste of fusel, which clearly indicates problems with the distillation process. I have sympathy for the fact that good distillation is difficult when resources are limited, but frankly, I found it undrinkable.
Overall, I really liked the place, and I will definitely recommend going there for a nice meal. I cannot recommend the drinks, however, and I really hope that they will address the problems with their alcohol production in the future.

A small individual destillery with a restaurant, overviewing a beautiful view. We had a beaf steak cooked at the table on a very hot brick stone. Very cool and tasty. Never seen this before. To drink we had gin tonic. Unfortunatly it didn't tast gin nor tonic. The spirit have a strong taste of fusel. Other drinks served at lur table tasted the same. The 1000 hill destillery should spend more effort in the lab and improve the destillery process to remove all rests of fusel. The result stoped us from comming back.

Olivier was great.
I loved the tasting! The cocktails and the presentation of the steaks on the hot rocks were great, and I loved that we got to cook it ourselves-- that added a nice touch to it as we had a fairly large group.

Delicious restaurant and nice distillery tour. We enjoyed the brochettes and other delicacies. The view was superb and service was quick. We brought friends to visit a second time in our short stay in Kigali. We bought a bottle of whiskey for the wedding we attended - as all guests must bring a bottle to share.

1000 Hills is always a delight! Although it's just off the road, this place feels like an oasis on the hills overlooking the gorgeous hills west of Kigali. It's just 15 minutes out of town, but is such a respite.
This past week Olivier was our server and he was great! We both had their burgers (not on the menu, but ask for them). They are yummy! The menu is limited, but what they offer is very good. Their hot stone meals are good - I think the beef and chicken are better than the fish for this preparation.
While you're there, check out Rupari Designs tucked just below the restaurant, but inside the compound. Beautiful things.

Avertissement: je n’ai pas vraiment consommé sur place. Mais le jeune homme au comptoir était tellement accueillant que je me suis dit que j’allais laisser un commentaire.
Je tenais à passer une soirée à la distillerie, mais j’ai manqué de temps. J’ai quand même eu l’occasion d’y faire un saut pour visiter les lieux. Le barman sur place nous a gentiment offert une dégustation des alcools produits sur place, tous de très bonne qualité et le gin très aromatique. L’endroit est aussi beau que sur les photos. Je le recommande fortement.

1000 Hills is a great gem to visit during a stay in Kigali. The food is both fast (which is rare in Kigali) and tasty, and the service is always friendly. The drinks are mixed (pun intended), some are good and some are not as great. The liqueur itself is average, so choosing a drink with good mixers can make or break the beverage. Overall, definitely worth a visit1

We had a lovely lunch with friends at 1000 Hills. We had heard about their great views and "hot stone" steaks. The reputation is well deserved.
We were a party of 4, and 2 had the hot lava stone steak, 1 the hot lava stone barramundi, and the other chicken brochettes. It seems the hot lava stone was more effective in cooking the steak than the fish. It was actually challenging to turn the fish often enough to keep it cooking - our fish never got quite done. It worked very well for the steaks - and they were tender and delicious. We'd definitely go back again for the steak. The chicken brochettes were tasty and done perfectly. All hot stone dishes came with a side bowl of fries and a small salad - and choice of either mushroom, pepper or garlic sauce. The pepper sauce was really peppery. The mushroom sauce pretty mild, and the garlic sauce we all liked the best. The chicken brochettes came with a tasty peanut sauce.
We all greatly enjoyed our meal and the views. Will definitely make another trip our there. It's worth the drive!

A group of us went for lunch at the distillery restaurant. It was a wonderful experience and the view is fantastic, high up on one of the hills around Kigali.
The food and service was fantastic and the sizzling beef served on a hot rock was a great experience.
