Visited this museum yesterday - was a delightful way to spend an hr or so away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Something that surprised me was the size of the estate - the building that displays all the ao dai is an airy barn with both Vietnamese & english descriptions, and is amongst a beautiful garden/park setting. Visitors are able to hire ao dai and take photos amongst the gardens - very picturesque with a lake, small boats, small bridges... lots of young people around taking beautiful photos. A little run down but still plenty of rustic charm.
Getting there way easy enough - we took a grab car which was around $300,000 VND from Sofitel Hotel and was driven up to the gate of the museum. On the way back we felt a little more adventurous and took the bus back - was a little tricky as no proper bus stop but with some directions from the staff from the museum we were able to stand in the right place (at the t-intersection on the main road/turn off for the museum) and flag down a bus (no. 88). Much cheaper at $6,000 VND a ticket back to HCMC and great experience seeing local life on a bus.

ツアーではあまり訪れないのか、あまり人がおらずゆっくり楽しめました。さまざまな時代のアオザイが見れるのはもちろんのこと、敷地も公園のように整備されており、時間をとってのんびり過ごすのがおすすめです^^

Ao Dai Museum
Grabが捕まるまで待った方が良さそうです。

I had read just a couple of reviews about this Ao Dai museum located about 23 kms outside Saigon in Long Phuoc District 9. It truly is worth a visit and can be reached by local means using the No. 88 bus departing from Ben Thanh Bus Station (NOT Ben Thanh Market). Actually we went to the market instead of the bus station (they are near but not that near) & nearly gave up but happened to see a No 88 & waved it down & it stopped (well, slowed down) & we hopped on. For 6,000 VND we travelled 23 kms on a journey of 1.1/2 hours through not very exciting districts until crossing the last bridge to reach lush countryside. The Museum really is lovely and very peaceful. We had called earlier to ask for an English-speaking guide. The tour, at a gentle pace, lasted just over an hour, then we wandered on our own, enjoying the lake and gardens. Miss France arrived for a photoshoot so the venue wasn't as unknown as it first seemed. The "stop" for the No. 88 is on the "main" road about 300 metres from the Museum which is located up a small dirt road. Buses are frequent around every 12 mins. Enjoy!

Such a pity this was almost an hour out of the city. Very disappointing as we realised after a long drive it was closed. Only way is via a tour. A strange location (district 9) and luckily our Grab driver hung around, we were out in the countryside and would have struggled to get back.

If you have about 4 hours to spare, you may like to visit this museum in district 9. It is located in a off beat area but worth a visit. The Ao Dai display was beautiful and there is an on site personnel who will accompany each group of visitors to explain each exhibit.

The earlier reviews I read were not disappointing. The museum is located at an idyllic location that conveys the feeling that you are at a (Vietnamese) summer resort. The display of different Ao Dai's is very fascinating, and our tour was enhanced by the fact that we received a personal guided tour from one of the staff members. (It wasn't quite clear to me whether every visitor receives such treatment, but I wasn't going to argue.) The entire exhibit takes perhaps an hour and a half to see (depending on how many questions you ask), after which one is free to hang around the grounds and contemplate the inner meaning of one's personal fashion statements.
One downside is that the museum is rather far from the centre of HCMC; however, depending on whether you are a glass half-full or half-empty kind of a person, you can turn that into an advantage. First of all, if you start at Ben Thanh Market and take the 88 bus (which goes all the way there, at a fairly high frequency), and if you figure that the museum is 23 Km away, then the fact that the fare costs 6,000 dong means that you're paying about 260 dong (or about 1 US cent) per Km! Where else can you get such a deal? In terms of time, it will take more than an hour to get there from Ben Thanh. (I will leave the cost per minute as an exercise for the reader.) The ride is also quasi-interesting ... depending on what you're interested in.
Another feature of the museum is that, even though the regular entrance fee is 100,000 Vnd per person, they don't make a fuss if you tell them that you're a teacher (for example, you can say that you are teaching philosophy to the guy selling Banh My on the corner of your street), in which case the price goes down to 50,000. Furthermore, the student entrance price is 30,000, for which a claim that you are a 'student of life' seems to be likely to work.
In conclusion, the museum is a wonderful place to spend half a day (or longer, if you bring your fishing pole), and is well worth the effort.

I can't praise this museum enough. I took the public bus there (line 88, goes from Ben Than) and an hour drive from the center will get you there. The museum is nested in a beautifully maintained garden and presents a vast collection of Ao Dais from various decades and of famous women. 1.5-2 hours are sufficient to enjoy all the hidden corners in the garden and the museum. Explanations in English are provided. Don't miss this one!

This museum was tricky to find because the grab taxi motorbike that I used didnt know where it was. It was defiitely worth the hassle of getting there. The lady that showed me around spoke good English and was very helpful. I was the only visitor. I suspect that they do not get may visitors which is a shame because it really was a lovely place with some excellent buildings and good displays of ao dais going back to the 1700s. (Ao Dai are the traditioal clothes of vietnam and come i a range of styles.) The disappointing thing was that they didnt have Ao Dais for sale ad didnt appear to have much i the way of refreshments. It cost 100,000 dong to get in which is a little pricey but I didnt mind paying it because it was so ice to be in the countryside in such a lovely setting. Its probably a good idea to rent a motorbike to go there have a picknik ad explore the area. I rushed around because I had the motorbike guy waiting but I thik tht you could easily take your time and relax ad sped a couple of hours here.
