Nice place to visit, small place . It just took us around 15 min to cover the ground. Not crowded with tourist and locals as Covid-19 was spreading everywhere around the world.

My curiosity got the best of me when I decided to venture out and see these ruins. When you approach the temple the view is fantastic; the ruins definitely have a charm. But as soon as you step out the car you’re harassed by the locals constantly begging for things, and the worst part is that they won’t leave you the hell alone. If you’re not familiar with giving offerings in Buddhist temples, they’ll take advantage of that and hustle you into buying flowers, and when you ask how much they refuse to tell you the price, opting instead to talk over you.
Kids surround you begging, and you have to be on guard about being pickpocketed. Old women from the temple come out begging for more money in addition to the offering you gave. It’s ridiculous. You can’t even focus and appreciate the beauty of the temple with 5 mouths constantly harassing you.
If you’re going to come, come in a group. If you come alone, make sure other tourists are there. Otherwise I’d just visit Ankor Wat and avoid this place.

This is an Angkorian temple with Hindu and Buddhist deities and located about 30 km south of Phnom Penh.
We were driven there by a friendly tuk tuk driver and our itinerary included the wild life sanctuary nearby. The road was a bit dusty as it was the dry season, and therefore best to wear a face mask.
This temple was comparatively smaller compare to the likes of those in Siem Reap, but had some beautiful carvings. It was not crowded, probably due to the fact that it was a weekday.
There were some elderly people hanging around and some school children playing nearby. We ignored them and they left us alone. There is a lake nearby called tonle bati where you can have a boat ride.
For me, it was worth while travelling here, to see this place.

A very small place to explore. Not worth the effort travelling there if you have little time and to explore phonm penh city. Do not mistake this with Ta Prohm Siem Reap which is more interesting. There are many locals pushing tourists to buy bundled lotus and joss sticks. However photos taken from this place are rather nice.

We loved Tonle Bati!! The temple is in really good condition and is really beautiful. Plus, we went on a Friday so we didn’t see any other tourists there the entire time (I’ve heard it’s very busy on the weekend). There are lots of beggars inside the temple, but we didn’t find them too pushy and they were mainly there to pray, which added to the experience. The lake and it’s surroundings are not incredibly exciting but they are still nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh. We took a small boat around the whole lake after it was offered to us and it only cost $8 for four people in a private boat. It took around 45 minutes and our driver picked lots of lotus fruits for us to try. We were also the only people in a boat on the whole lake!! It was very peaceful.

We came to Tonle Bati on a day trip to see the temple there and at Phnom Chisor. So nothing to report on food.
Ta Phrom Tonle Bati was built in 1200 CE by King Jayavarman VII in the style of the Bayon Temple in Angkor Wat which he was also responsible for. A Mahayana Buddhist. About 100 or so years later Thervada (Hinayan) Buddhist prevailed in the Khymer Kingdom.
The temple is nice with some excellent remaining carvings and worth a visit, perhaps combined with Phnom Chisor or with a picnic in the area. See attached pictures.
As other reviewers have noted there are beggars in the temple. When we were there predominantly older individuals. Also people in the shrines selling incense and candles. We politely turned away their requests and were generally left alone after that.
