Our trip with Goyo Travel was amazing! Shuree, our guide, and Monkhoo, our driver, really made the experience special. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and kept things fun and interesting the whole way. Mongolia was just beautiful, and we loved getting a taste of the local culture and way of life. The food was a bit tough since one of us is vegetarian, and one person got a bit sick, but overall it was still a great adventure and place to visit. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique experience!

We recently returned from a month’s travel in Mongolia. We booked the Discovery Tour (23 days) and the Eagles of the Altai Festival (a further 7 days) with Goyo Travel for the month of September. It was an epic adventure in an epic country. There were varied landscapes ranging from desert, the snow-covered Altai mountains, lush valleys, forests of birch and larch already changing to brilliant autumnal colours, intense blue lakes, volcanoes to climb and horses to ride. There were dramatic changing skyscapes with clouds, sudden storms, intense light and star filled night skies. There was the restorative power of horizons, complete silence and fragrance of wild sage and thyme. The nomads in both central and Kazakh (Western Mongolia) with their herds of camels, cattle, yaks, sheep and goats and magnificent horses welcomed us into their homes. We were able to experience and even participate in their daily activities including sharing their food. The eagle festival in western Mongolia was a highlight. The relationship between the eagle hunter, the eagle and the horse is awesome. Needless to say, this was a photographic fest.
Our guide Gantigmaa and driver Tulgaa were excellent and diligent in looking after us and ensuring we experienced everything. Tulgaa was not only our driver but also our barrista setting up a welcome pop-up café mid-morning.
Our Kazakh guide and driver took us through the stunning Altai mountains and eagle festival.
Shopping for gorgeous cashmeres and handicrafts in Ulanbaatar and Bayan Ulgiii was a must.
A heads up to say that the roads are challenging and a day’s travel feel like a long day. Some of the ger camp stays can be basic in western Mongolia but that is ok when the ger camp is surrounded by stunning landscape.
Mongolia is not a cheap holiday destination. You pay your money and can take your pick of any number of touring companies. We chose Goyo Travel and are delighted that we did. The service from start to finish was excellent and professional. The response throughout was prompt, the literature comprehensive. We can highly recommend them. Goyo Travel gave us a truly wonderful and memorable experience and we thank them for that.

This was my second trip to Mongolia, my first was the "Grand Tour" in 2018...stupendous.
My 2024 "Altai Adventure" was what it says...an adventure from start to finish. The beautiful Altai mountains in Western Mongolia provide challenging and exhilarating routes to trek well supported by a great team led by an excellent guide. Our 5 days trekking along valleys brimming with autumnal colour with rivers, still shallow enough to ford, and the long, steady climbs over passes was really special. The weather in the mountains is unpredictable but we were fortunate on the whole... only one day of rain which turned to snow!, but our guide & the regional office ensured we were safe and well.
This trip follows the trekking days with ger camp stays with an Eagle Hunters family and then at an Eagle Festival. The former enabled us to meet their eagles up close including opportunities to hold an eagle, to learn about the training and to watch a demonstration. Kazakh hospitality is extraordinary. As well as that of our Eagle Hunter host's family we visited other nomadic families in the area where guests sample much of the local diet...eg. milk and black tea, cheeses, clotted cream, butter (all made by the women in the family), beef and mutton seem to the staple meats, served with noodles/rice... be prepared to try what is offered, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Festivals in Mongolia are exhilarating events whether it's Naadam in July or the Eagle Festivals of September /October in the west. Try to plan your visit around one of these...you won't be disappointed.
Whilst elements of this trip can be a challenge, the overall experience is so worth it.

Goyo assisted me in arranging a nice 6-day tour in the center of Mongolia based on my interests (various landscapes + experiencing nomad lifestyle by staying with local families).
Very grateful to have visited various national parks, done some treks in the nature, saw many different animals and landscapes and, most importantly, stayed two nights with two different nomadic families to have a taste of their tradition, culture and lifestyle.
The guide and driver were both great and helped in making my experience in Mongolia significantly better.

The trip with Goyo was simply fantastic. Very well organized, flexible and the fulfillment of spontaneous wishes. The chef provided us with very good food. The driver mastered the difficult route with flying colors. And the tour guide gave us a lot of knowledge about the Mongols and their country. I can only recommend it.

Arranged a 6 day horse trek and joined 9 others on a 6 day hiking trip in Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, 2 days visiting an eagle hunter's ranch, and 3 days at the Sagsai Eagle Festival. Goyo's support and guides were first class. We had 8 camels and 3 camelteers,! It was a lifetime experience of nomadic herder life on the steppe. Everything was beautifully arranged and we all felt very well taken care of.

We travelled around the Gobi and Western Mongolia for 18 days. While the dirt roads were bumpy and the accomodation occasionaly rustic we experienced something of this stunningly vast deserted country.. We will never forget riding a bactrian camel and horses, climbing sand dunes, exploring ancient sites and experiencing their nomadic life style. The high light must be spending time at the Eagle Festival in Western Mongolia. Utterly unique experience/

hi. i'm jeeyoung
I will arrive in Ulanbaatar, Mongolia next week. I don't have enough time to go to business, and I want to have a half-day riding experience. Is it possible? My hotel name is bluesky
Skrevet 8. mars 2019
Dear Jee Young,
We can certainly organise a day trip to one of the National parks near to UB, either Terelj or Khustai, including a half day horse ride. I cannot send attachments or weblinks on this forum, so please could you email us (details on our website) and one of our team will respond to you with a suggested itinerary and costing.
Thanks

Planning to travel from Beijing to St Petersburg in Feb. Would love to spend time in Mongolia ( a few days). We are a retired couple travelling by train from Singapore so will have limited space for winter clothing. Any suggestions for a few day stop over? We would like to get out of the city if possible?
Thank you
Skrevet 6. oktober 2018
Hi,
Thanks for your enquiry and certainly we can still arrange short trips outside of Ulaanbaatar to nearby National parks of Khustai and Terelj, and some ger camps are still open in these locations during the winter, plus we arrange homestays in both locations if you are looking for something more authentic and rustic! Please note that February is still winter so it will be cold - and so will Russia, so you MUST travel with winter clothes!! :) If you don't have too much packing space, then put them on! You will be wearing probably 3-4 layers all the time when in Mongolia and Russia, believe me. You should not come underprepared.
I cannot send itinerary attachments via Trip Advisor so please contact me via our website to request suitable itineraries.
Thanks!
Olly

Hi,
We are looking at a 8-day land tour from Aug 18-Aug 25 (approximate). We would like your recommendation and a proposed itinerary for a private tour of 4 pax.
We want to explore and experience the culture and beauty of Mongolia. The places of interest are :
Gobi Desert (to include sand dunes, flaming cliffs of dinosaurs)
Hulunbuir
Grasslands
Crystal lake
We also want to experience staying in Ger camp (yurt stay), camel rides and watch local traditional performances
One of our considerations is to minimize long distance car ride. Pls customise based on our above request n advise cost. Thanks.

Hi,
Yes we would be delighted to help, although some of your locations are in Inner Mongolia (China) and not in Mongolia. We would only be able to arrange a tour within Mongolia. If you could send an email to my colleague laura - laura@goyotravel - that would be best and she can send you some example itineraries, as I am unable to attach any information to a Trip Advisor reply.
Thanks!

Hi,i have reserved 7 days to stay in ulan bator. if i want to go to Gobi, experience living in Ger and have a horse riding experience, is it possible? How can we join the tour and what is the fee?
Skrevet 12. april 2017
We are two women who would like to see Mongolia. The tour can be two to three weeks, we are interested in the reindeer herders, eagle hunting, traditional life, the Gobi desert with perhaps a short camel trek. My friend is a birder. We both love animals. I am very interested in the traditional arts and crafts and definitely want to hear the Tuva singers. We would also like to see sime of the Buddhist temples. What would you suggest?

Skrevet 25. februar 2017
Dear Carol,
Thanks for getting in touch, and thanks also to Rana for your comments.
Indeed, your wishlist could easily fill 4 weeks, and to be honest the timing of your visit would influence whether or not you could see any eagle hunters, as the season for that is late September to March. Although you can fit in a visit to an eagle hunter outside of these times, they do not fly their birds during spring/summer. A trip to the West during this time would be more for trekking, on foot or on horseback, through one of the remote wilderness areas like Tsambagarav or Tavanbogd.
A trip to the Reindeer Herders would be at minimum 10 days from leaving the capital to getting back, and usually we would actually fit it within a 2 week period and have some time by Lake Khovsgol at the end of such a trip.
A Gobi trip can fit within 3-8 days depending on various factors - an overland trip with a 2 day camel trek would be at the longer end, and a fly-down-fly-back loop of Gobi highlights could be done in 3-4 days.
I can't attach itineraries in this message forum so please could you contact us directly via our website or email me (contact details on our website, I am not allowed to write email addresses or weblinks in this message forum either.
Thanks
Olly

Hi! Husband and I are planning a trip in July 2017 to Mongolia and would like to visit the Naadam Festival, the Gobi and also some of the more remote, less-traveled places in Mongolia. Can you assist us with a tour of about 14 days? Thanks!
Skrevet 1. februar 2017
Hi,
Thank you for your message, we can certainly organise a tour for you. I would suggest our Colours of Naadam tour as it will take you to see one of the Naadam festivals as well as some of the less-travelled places in Mongolia.
I would love to send you the itinerary however I cannot attach it to tripadvisor messages, so could you contact us via goyotravel website for detailed info, please.
Thanks
Andy
