The country is stunning, vast and beyond description. Our trip with Goyo Travel enhanced the experience. The guide was informative, the staff responsive and pro-active, the driver excellent, and the 'little extras' (such as fresh coffee on the road) very welcome. The proposed itinerary suited our purposes and the accommodation was generally excellent - we particularly enjoyed the ger home-stay in Khustain National Park. All in all, we had a wonderful time!

We fell in love with Mongolia and we thank Goyo for providing the best touring experience for us.
Our tour guides and drivers were fabulous and have always tried their best to satisfy our wishes and needs. They are friendly , knowledgeable and keen to share their love for the country with their guests.
We love our private tour that has given us the flexibility in itinerary changes and intimate experience while visiting local herders family. We loved the vast open space and landscape and Gobi and absolutely loved the opportunity to be part of the golden eagle festival at Sagsai!
Olly our initial contact at Goyo was excellent in recommending destinations options and provided his onsite experience to best design our tour.
Thank you Goyo again and we hope to come back to Mongolia again.

Goyo Travel provided a really professional and personal service organising our tour to Mongolia from initial enquiry through to completion. The trip was well planned and gave us an opportunity to experience a wide and varied area of Mongolia and its sights within our 6 day tour. Their guide spoke excellent English and was very well informed on the countries history and customs which he relayed in a clear and friendly manner. Our driver was very competent and jovial such that we became a very friendly group both on the day tours and in the evening leisure periods. We would highly recommend this company and give it 5 stars .

We took a 5 day driving tour which was so enjoyable!! The best thing about this tour of central Mongolia was our outstanding guide, Bibi. The scenery was amazing- the different gers where we stayed were a fun experience. We rode a camel and saw the wild Przewalski’s horses, huge Steppe Eagles, foxes, Red Deer and more!! We visited several monasteries and heard the monks chanting and had many more experiences than I can describe! Goyo Travel was responsive during the booking process and attentive to our needs during the trip and they provided lots of information ahead of the trip. I highly recommend this tour company if you’re considering visiting Mongolia!!

After a stressful few months at work, I wanted a vacation where I could experience something entirely different yet extremely relaxing. Mongolia was definitely it! Hiking, stargazing, great conversations, exploration, wildlife viewing, a home stay, and so much more. Goyo Travel was the wizard who made it all happen. Olly and Goyo were flexible, creative, responsive, and offered a reasonably priced product. I researched other companies, but none seemed to care as much about their guests as Goyo. And as for my guide, well, I was lucky to get the CEO herself, Goyo! Expert knowledge, hospitality, service, and complete flexibility were her hallmarks. THIS is the company you want to guide you through the remote lands of Mongolia!

Probably as good as it gets in Mongolia. The pre-planning was excellent which brought a lot of comfort and really helped with the decision to finally book Mongolia. Not sure we would have booked the trip without this level of comfort in advance during the planning process.
A few quick comments about the trip itself...
The Gobi Desert was amazing. Incredible guide, great driver - overall experience was really good.
Just know the roads are horrible, the hotels are "ok" - unfortunately Mongolian beds are not comfortable - showers ok, cel/wi-fi was so-so, and food was very, very basic.
This should be expected when traveling to Mongolia, and especially the Gobi. That said, it's still worth it, and part of the experience and the learning. Just know what to expect.
After an amazing few days in The Gobi, I found Ulaanbaatar disappointing - as a city, and the area/tours around it. We did Ulaanbaatar after Gobi, and perhaps better to do the other way around, and do Ulaanbaatar first, and then go to Gobi.
Flights are quite limited, with plenty of changes and delays (although we got lucky overall), so sometimes you need to build in some buffer, which is just the reality of traveling in that part of the world.
Goyo were really good, and I'd use them again, and I'd recommend them without any doubt.
Mongolia was amazing overall - a once in a lifetime dream vacation. Just make sure you know what to expect, and what not to expect.

What an enriching, interesting, and life-affirming journey. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun traveling. Thank you, Olly & Goyo, for sharing your family, friends, and impressive network of welcoming contacts with us!
Even at 17 days, we could have happily traveled for longer. Great mix of homestays, gers, and more ritzy accommodation along a bespoke itinerary. We're customarily independent travelers, but our guide, our driver, and our various hosts taught us so much about Mongolian history, language, culture, I couldn't have imagined seeing this beautiful country any other way.
Huge props to Goyo for putting our trip together within one week of arrival (readers: be respectful and plan ahead, don't be like us) and for reassuring LGBT+ travelers about safety and local customs. There are more expensive/more luxurious tours out there, but I couldn't have imagined what paying 2x as much would have gotten you other than separating you from the people, locales, and accommodations that made this trip so special.
One anecdote that sums up how knowledgeable and professional the Goyo staff were. Our furgon (off-roading van) had a breakdown in the Gobi. Within 15 minutes, our guide managed to get a nearby family to drive us for the rest of the evening, and our driver apparently stayed up until 4am repairing the van - and wouldn’t sleep in, despite us imploring him to do so. Most importantly, the two of them really felt like friends after our roadtrip.
Thank you, Goyo!

Goyo organised a 6 day trip for us in Mongolia (3 days in the Gobi, followed by 2 days in Terelj, and transfers in UB). Overall, we had a really good experience with them and thoroughly enjoyed our trip.
We had been trying to organise this trip for 3 years but due to visa requirements and then COVID, we had been unable to make it. During those 3 years, and all the way in the run-up to our actual trip, Olly (the owner) was great at providing recommendations and helping us plan things. His communication is excellent, very professional but also very approachable and easy-going. Even when flights kept changing (this is Mongolia after all) he kept us up-to-date and offered alternatives. Overall, we felt informed at all times and that things were under control. Two amazing touches that really made a difference to our trip: Olly arranged for local sim cards which we received upon arrival by our driver and paid him directly; this really simplified our lives as we didn't have to wait in line at the airport and go through the arduous process that getting a sim usually is... Then, Olly also arranged for our laundry to be done upon arrival, which we received when we returned from the Gobi and before continuing on to Terelj. Again, this made a huge difference as we had been travelling for a long time and laundry was always a bit of a difficult task!
Our 3-day trip to the Gobi was phenomenal! Both our driver and guide (Tuya) were excellent and were always one step ahead of us: very attentive and always on top of the details (e.g. my partner has some dietary restrictions and Tuya always made sure the restaurants / hotels knew about this and prepared special meals) and went our of their way to keep us happy. Tuya was also extremely knowledgeable, spoke great English and hence, was able to explain things and give us a real flavour of Mongolian life through her own eyes and experiences. She was also very flexible and was always able to adjust the itinerary to fit our schedule and needs. The ger camps (Gobi Mirage and Gobi Discovery) were pleasant but obviously bear in mind that this is Mongolia and you're in the middle of nowhere so don't expect real comfort and luxury or great food; you come to Mongolia for the amazing sights :) Also bear in mind that the drives are generally long and the roads can be quite bumpy but that's a general thing in Mongolia.
Our two days in Terelj were nice but not as awe-inspiring as the Gobi. Part of that is just due to the fact that you are closer to UB so it's much more touristy and the landscapes/people don't feel as "raw/amazing" or "pure", if that makes sense. Our guide and driver were perfectly fine but just didn't have the same charm that our previous one did (which is understandable, not all guides are cut from the same cloth). The planning on the first day was also a little bit chaotic as they changed the kayaking spot but then neither the driver nor the guide and kayaking instructor really knew the way there so we ended up spending 2hrs driving around endlessly, and at times a little dangerously, which didn't make for a great experience after a 6am flight from the Gobi. In fairness, the kayaking was great (we reverted to the original spot) in the end.
One practical piece of feedback would be to have a cooler in the car so the water (which was always plentiful) can be kept cold; the weather is quite hot and dry so it would have been nice to always have cold water.
All in all, a great experience and would thoroughly recommend Olly and his team.

We took a Mongolia tour for Two in 17 days, + 2 days for the flights. From the first to the last email, all our requests were answered within hours by the owner with great professionalism to all our wishes, questions and needs. The UB crew provided us with the trip we had in mind - a variation of Goyo's "Grand Tour" for 2 in a Toyota Hilux with a driver and guide, including international flights to and from UB. The driver and the guide both were very skillful, experienced, knowledgeable, gentle, persistent, and humorous. We spent two nights in the great Tushin Hotel in UB, 12 nights in various ger camps, and one night in a very interesting homestay in Mandalgobi with a tour of the Gobi Oasis Tree Planting Nursery. Everyone had an eye on our health restrictions and took care of our special dietary needs. Everything went smoothly, and even unforeseen problems, such as the suspension of the ferry service on Lake Khovsgol due to ice, were quickly resolved by the staff. It was a wonderful, well planned, carefully organized and very well guided trip in a large circle of more than 3600 kms through central Mongolia. We saw many of the typical landscapes, flora and fauna of an amazingly diverse country and got deep insights into the different cultures of Mongolia. Along the way we met friendly, gentle and hospitable people and took many special pictures.

Dear Jee Young,
We can certainly organise a day trip to one of the National parks near to UB, either Terelj or Khustai, including a half day horse ride. I cannot send attachments or weblinks on this forum, so please could you email us (details on our website) and one of our team will respond to you with a suggested itinerary and costing.

Planning to travel from Beijing to St Petersburg in Feb. Would love to spend time in Mongolia ( a few days). We are a retired couple travelling by train from Singapore so will have limited space for winter clothing. Any suggestions for a few day stop over? We would like to get out of the city if possible?
Thank you

Hi,
Thanks for your enquiry and certainly we can still arrange short trips outside of Ulaanbaatar to nearby National parks of Khustai and Terelj, and some ger camps are still open in these locations during the winter, plus we arrange homestays in both locations if you are looking for something more authentic and rustic! Please note that February is still winter so it will be cold - and so will Russia, so you MUST travel with winter clothes!! :) If you don't have too much packing space, then put them on! You will be wearing probably 3-4 layers all the time when in Mongolia and Russia, believe me. You should not come underprepared.
I cannot send itinerary attachments via Trip Advisor so please contact me via our website to request suitable itineraries.
Thanks!

Hi,
We are looking at a 8-day land tour from Aug 18-Aug 25 (approximate). We would like your recommendation and a proposed itinerary for a private tour of 4 pax.
We want to explore and experience the culture and beauty of Mongolia. The places of interest are :
Gobi Desert (to include sand dunes, flaming cliffs of dinosaurs)
Hulunbuir
Grasslands
Crystal lake
We also want to experience staying in Ger camp (yurt stay), camel rides and watch local traditional performances
One of our considerations is to minimize long distance car ride. Pls customise based on our above request n advise cost. Thanks.

Hi,
Yes we would be delighted to help, although some of your locations are in Inner Mongolia (China) and not in Mongolia. We would only be able to arrange a tour within Mongolia. If you could send an email to my colleague laura - laura@goyotravel - that would be best and she can send you some example itineraries, as I am unable to attach any information to a Trip Advisor reply.
Thanks!

We are two women who would like to see Mongolia. The tour can be two to three weeks, we are interested in the reindeer herders, eagle hunting, traditional life, the Gobi desert with perhaps a short camel trek. My friend is a birder. We both love animals. I am very interested in the traditional arts and crafts and definitely want to hear the Tuva singers. We would also like to see sime of the Buddhist temples. What would you suggest?
Carol
Goyo Travel Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia4 bidrag
Dear Carol,
Thanks for getting in touch, and thanks also to Rana for your comments.
Indeed, your wishlist could easily fill 4 weeks, and to be honest the timing of your visit would influence whether or not you could see any eagle hunters, as the season for that is late September to March. Although you can fit in a visit to an eagle hunter outside of these times, they do not fly their birds during spring/summer. A trip to the West during this time would be more for trekking, on foot or on horseback, through one of the remote wilderness areas like Tsambagarav or Tavanbogd.
A trip to the Reindeer Herders would be at minimum 10 days from leaving the capital to getting back, and usually we would actually fit it within a 2 week period and have some time by Lake Khovsgol at the end of such a trip.
A Gobi trip can fit within 3-8 days depending on various factors - an overland trip with a 2 day camel trek would be at the longer end, and a fly-down-fly-back loop of Gobi highlights could be done in 3-4 days.
I can't attach itineraries in this message forum so please could you contact us directly via our website or email me (contact details on our website, I am not allowed to write email addresses or weblinks in this message forum either.
Thanks
Olly
