Pluses - I loved the fact that they give a personal consultation prior to starting the session to find out your problem areas, skin types, allergies, etc.
The lady who took our appointment was extremely accommodating and managed to source the therapists for us (me and my husband went in together so we needed simultaneous treatments) and was friendly.
Minuses - The staff who escorted me to the therapy room rudely stopped me from using the bathrobe (which was absurd because I can’t imagine not using a bathrobe at the spa) and they do not provide disposable underwear, so you have to take your own. We got a full body KEMARA signature treatment (couple therapy) which was 110 minutes but while my husband’s treatment started early I had to wait for about 20 minutes to start mine and finished early as well.

The spa services at Kemara were wonderful and as soon as they can get the check-in experience better organized and managed, it will be a great overall experience.
First, the positive- I went for a 75 minute massage and a facial. The woman who did the massage and facial was extremely skilled and gave a lovely and relaxing massage, customized and adjusted to my preferences. The facial was similarly great- very thorough and very cleansing. The ambiance in the treatment room was very nice and comfortable.
As for the check-in experience, the spa would benefit from some improvement. We arrived 15 minutes prior to our scheduled appointment time. The staff seemed extraordinary flustered by managing both the arriving clients and taking bookings over the phone. 10 minutes after our scheduled start time, the manager began processing us, and eventually took my friend back to start her massage only after we reminded them she had to catch a flight. My services didn’t start until 45 minutes after my appointment time? So if they could just fix this aspect, it would be a great overall experience!

Initially I visited this place in the beginning of 2022 with my husband and we loved the experience. Properly trained and polite therapists did an excellent job. Later the same year I visited the place with a friend, I took her for her bday as a treat. We even had bfast at their cafe. The therapist my friend got was yawning non stop which clearly indicated she was not interested in her job,and she’s telling my friend that she has mud on her feet and asking her to wash it off and come. This was not any mud but it was rough skin patch on her feet. The therapist I got was fairly okay. So after the message we started getting ready. After a few mins one therapist came and opened the door without even knocking and I was in my underwear. Then they started coming in frequently and bringing in equipments to the room, maybe for the next appointment completely invading our privacy and without even letting us know what’s happening. We clearly did not take more than 10mins to get ready because we didn’t even have a shower but only was touching our makeup. Then my therapist entered the room once again asking us to leave because other clients are waiting! She was rude to us and completely mannerless. I spoke to one Jessica at the counter and she mentioned we’ve asked them to leave at least 20mins for clients to get ready and she would take this up with their manager. The manager was of course busy taking more appointments over phone hence we left the premises. No response yo date therefore im sharing my experience publicly.

It would be a great help if you could kindly let me know the date on which you came in for the treatment , to ensure this does not happen again .
We do train our therapists very regularly in respect of all protocols and this should not have happened at all

My husband and I each had 2 massages at Kemara during a recent stay in Sri Lanka. The setting was beautiful, the staff very attentive and the massages were some of the best we have ever had. They spent time with you beforehand clearly understanding what your preferences were and also customizing the essential oils and aromas. Go!!

We visited Kemara on 2 occasions and had 2 90 minute massages both times. The first experience was 5/5, professional, sit down and review our specific needs, oil selection and great therapists with very nice private room and peaceful.
The second time was at best 2/5 for me. Rushed experience, I think they were running late as they were busy, noisy doors opening and slamming as we were at the end of the corridor and lots of coming and going of the staff, the room itself had a wooden divider and I could hear the treatment next to me. The therapist had rough hands and was scratching my back and I had to ask her to stop.
If we had stopped at the first treatment I would give it 5/5 but after the second massage can only give 3/5

Kemara is the best place I have ever been for a massage and facial. They started with asking about your needs. The staff were attentive, very professional and the treatment rooms were amazing. Definitely recommend it when you are in Colombo. I went twice in a week.

Kemara fulfils all the right checkboxes - serene ambiance, polite staff, great range of spa services (and even products), complete protocol and very hygienic.
Where it fell short of me was the delivery of consistent service. (I went to the Spa 3 times in a span of a week) and noticed:
- while the team is very particular about making sure the customer shows up on time for an appointment, it’s not the same for their staff. On one occasion I had to wait over 45 min for the therapist, and the second time I had change the service I wanted to a different one because the therapist for it was just not available.
- watch the service timings - my 75 min facial was over in 61 min.
- profile form filled up on first appointment is not really referred to in follow up visits. Have to keep reminding the team to ensure on your preferences are followed.
Little things, but can be really annoying. If I find a better spa, I will totally move from here.

I was looking for a good deep tissue massage while in Colombo when I was referred to Kemara. Scheduling was a little difficult for me, but Kemara was really good about following up when they had a opening and being flexible when I had an unexpected conflict. The place itself had a nice ambience, and the check-in process and start of massage was smooth & quick. My masseuse did a wonderful job, and the deep tissue was one of those heavenly, hurt-so-good experiences. I've tried a couple of other spas in Colombo including the Balinese, Ayurvedic, and the other one named after the colonial name of the country, but the Kemara experience was far and above the best experience. The fact that it's not overpriced is just a bonus.

Had an amazing massage at kemara. Everyone was super professional, the rooms were clean, the oils smell amazing. And my type A mother who is always stressed about everything even managed to fall asleep during her massage because she was so relaxed (which never happens)
Cannot recommend this place enough and will definitely be back next time I come back to sri lanka
