The views are good, very magnificent. This was the second time I went there. The most beautiful and modern place. It's such a beautiful place, no matter how much you look at it, you never hear about it. This is the most famous and historical mosque in Istanbul. You can see the Marmaris sea on the right side. So no matter which way you turn your head, you will be presented with perfect and magnificent sights, performances and unforgettable images.

Walking through the city, with the cable car we arrived in this beautiful neighborhood which has as its first starting point the stadium of a football team in the city and on the other side of the road the palace of a sultan who lived there with his family. Long queue to enter, we gave up and preferred to walk around the neighborhood and then take a trip to the Bosphorus. Many places along the shore of the Bosphorus, today there was also a regatta with very beautiful sailing boats.

We love Besiktas and the street restaurants. Balikca has outside tables right next to fresh fish market and on the Main Street. The menu hasn’t changed much over the years and they always have the seasonal catch.
After lunch we walked more in the main shopping area and bought some sweets and pastries. I can’t wait to go back and buy some sweet breads and freshly baked marzipan cookies.

My Bosphorus-Strait boat trip allowed me to admire a whole host of architectural interests in Istanbul. I never thought that it is from the surface of the water that such beauty opens up to the amazing and original must-sees rising along the shore of the strait.
And in the TOP-5 architectural objects that are a must-see while walking along the Bosphorus, in my humble opinion, definitely includes the so-called Çırağan Sarayı Palace, 32nd Sultan of the Ottoman Empire (Çırağan Sarayı, aka Çırağan Palace). You can easily find the latter in the Beşiktaş area. True, the status of the building is currently somewhat different than at the time of construction - now it is a five-star hotel “Çırağan Palace Kempinski”.
To be honest, I don’t quite understand why Abdul-Aziz suddenly decided to build himself a new palace, which, at the whim of the ruler, began to be built just one and a half kilometers north along the Bosphorus from Dolmabahce - the majestic palace of the Ottoman sultans, and a kilometer to the south - east of the palace and park, again the Sultan's complex Yildiz-Saray. Well, the rich, as they say, have their own quirks... Plus, out of nowhere, the Ottoman-Sultan “trick” appeared - to live in one’s own palace and not use the palaces of one’s ancestors. I still don’t understand under which Sultan this incomprehensible “tradition” appeared, but it is reliably known that it was Abdul-Azizov’s Chiragan Palace that became the last example of this craze. The 19th century became a period of benefit for the gurus of architecture with Armenian roots - otherwise it is difficult to explain why Armenian architects were invited for the design and subsequent construction of all sorts of monumental (and not so monumental) structures.
Nothing has changed in the history of Çırağan Palace: the palace was designed in the Baroque style by Nikogos Balyan and built in 1863-1867 by his sons Sarkis and Hakob Balyan, who introduced some features of Arabic architecture into their father’s project. The thing is that the customer of the construction adored Moorish art and wanted the Chiragan Palace to be imbued with the Moorish spirit. To understand what the Sultan wanted, the architects had to travel around North Africa, the Maghreb, Al-Andalus and the Alhambra to study the features of Moorish construction.
The outer walls of the structure were built from marble of various shades, while the inner walls and the roof were made of wood. The latter circumstance was the reason that, having broken out “like a match” on January 19, 1910, the palace was completely destroyed by fire, leaving only the outer walls untouched.
The once architectural “pearl” stood in such a sad “state” until 1987. A certain Japanese corporation bought the “abandoned” building, manipulated it, built a modern hotel complex next to it in the garden - and, please, the fashionable hotel received its first visitors in 1990. I read that the cost of the most expensive room at Chiragan Palace ranks 14th in the TOP 15 most expensive hotels in the world.
I haven't checked whether this is true or not. By the way, the name of the palace “Çırağan” has its own very interesting history. An area with a beautiful landscape, immersed in the greenery of trees and shrubs, located in the area between Ortakoy and Besiktas, in ancient times it was called Kazancıoğlu Bahçesi Park.
At the very beginning of his reign, which fell at the beginning of the 18th century, Sultan Ahmed III, out of the generosity of his soul, donated these lands to the husband of his daughter Fatma Humashah Kadyn Efendi, the Grand Vizier Damat Ibrahim Pasha. The latter gave the command to build a luxurious palace for his “other half”, in which traditional high-society parties began to be held, called “Chiragan Shenlikleri” or “Lale Chiragany”.
Just so you know, the word “çırağ” translated into Russian means “lamp”, and “lale” means tulip. The fact is that in the dark, the tulips in the palace garden were illuminated with oil lanterns or torches. Therefore, the name “Çırağan” was assigned to this territory. The photos of the former palace from the ferry turned out quite good. Of course, I would like to get to know this interesting (albeit completely new) building better. Perhaps another time? Do not miss!!!

I took a ferry over from Eminőnű to Beşiktaş and was so gladi did. It has a really laid back vibe with lots of coffee places, bars and restaurants to suit every palate. There is some good shopping to be done too. I really enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere while wandering the little streets.
