Was such a beautiful place to visit. We spent some time in the garden before entering the palace, and the palace being right on the Bosphorus was quite magical. When we went in, I was pleasantly surprised at how much we were able to see (apart from an area being worked on). Stunning rooms, furniture and decorations. Well worth the visit.

On the Asian side this palace falls architecturally and decoratively between the Topkapi Palace and Dolmabahce Palace. Built in 1865 it was the summer palace for the Ottoman sultans. It is a smaller palace than both of the others, contains more Islamic features than the Dolmabahce Palace and has more colourful decorations. One highlight was a huge marble pool, currently with no water, in the downstairs reception hall. Unfortunately, there were no photos allowed indoors. Shoe covers are required. I liked it more than the Dolmabahce Palace because it had a more Turkish feel.

The gardens are pretty with water features and nice wildlife statues but the upper gardens are closed. There is a short walkway on the Bosporus Strait with bathing pavilions sitting at either end which is very picturesque. It is very close to the 15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü bridge. Entrance and exit at the same place with a gift shop and clean toilets. We visited this palace because we opted out of a Trafalgar bus tour of the Bosporus Strait (we had taken an independent ferry ride earlier) and that was the drop off point. We spoke to other people and they had taken the hop-on/hop-off bus to get here. When leaving we took a bus to Karakoy to look at the produce markets then a ferry to Eminönü and Tram T1 to our hotel.

Do not miss a visit to this wonderful palace. Inside you can see the room of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, may God have mercy on him, and you can take an audio device for explanation, translated into Arabic and other languages.

The palace is NEVER that much gorgeous to talk about. It is normal like many other palaces through the Middle East, mouth-to-mouth exaggeration works well, however.
Besides some fully wrong translation from Ottoman (Farsi) to English, the staff of the very palace are full charlatan, liar and aggressive.
I had found that Istanbul is a touristy destination not a touristic BUT the very place was a hallmark. I showed the Museum Card with which I could pass the entrance. The ticket seller ignored it and sold ticket to me. When I found his mistake and backed, he never paid my money back! First, he claimed that had not understood clearly. When I talked with a lady, who behaved as a prosecutor, I found the ticket seller had told that I had shown the museum cards after buying the tickets. The fat security man but talked in the most possible impolite and rudest way!
The chiseled and lied to me, disrespected and ignored the case.
Be aware of Turkey's tourism policies these days. No wonder why 7.300.000 tourists out of 14.700.000 ones have visited Istanbul's museums and palaces.
Their tourism product seems being changed to chiseling, cheating and bullying.
Happy to leave the very country soon. I have no plan to back here.

Surprisingly, almost every significant landmark of Istanbul this November was partially covered with identical construction awnings or surrounded by no less identical scaffolding. Each! And the famous Beylerbeyi Palace is no exception. Probably, this should mean that the landmark was planned to be restored for the 100th anniversary of the republic, but they didn’t have time? No wonder, since there are a lot of attractions in Istanbul...

Breathtaking palace, kept original down to the last detail. Seeing the last Sultans of the Ottoman Empire is highly recommended.

The Beylerbeyi or Summer Palace is right on the Bosporus. There are 2 “tents” as the buildings are called with a walkway in between with a few benches to enjoy watching the boats. Not all of the gardens were open. There was some work being done on the exterior of one side of the palace so it was covered. No photos allowed inside. I went on a Wednesday morning, it was me and a high school group. Younger school children were coming in as I left. It is very decorative inside, huge marble pool on the first floor inside. Audio guide is free but you have to leave a drivers license or passport to ensure you return it. I was not sure if it was open to get a guide so I did not get one. There is a small cafe and. Small gift shop. Entry fee was 200 Turkish lira. I enjoyed the visit and would recommend it.

Admission costs 50 TL with a museum card. They close the palace entrance at 17.30. The interior of the palace is beautiful, but photography is prohibited. There is a cafe at the exit. The seaside view and atmosphere are nice.

The palace was used a summer residence in the times of the Ottoman Empire. It is beautiful. but the best part is the views from the garden of the Bosforo.
