Amazing market with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables! The locals were out and lots of people were there. This is more of a food market.

This was part of a combined trip organised by my tour operator. First there was an organic wine place, then a ceramics place and a turkish delight shop.

We were only left with 50 mins at the market...which was not enough!!

I am all for haggling when clothes shopping, but the prices were so low it was hardly worth it unless buying in bulk. It is by far the least pushy of any street market I've been to in Turkey (I've been there 30+ times)

I will definitely be returning in October when I am in Kushadasi, but I will not be doing the tour company excursion. Instead, I'll just get a taxi there and back.

Oh, you have to buy some strawberries 🍓 I live 10 miles from the area in Somerset that supplies Wimbledon with its stawbs...the ones at Sulcek market were BETTER!

PS: The bamboo ankle socks (no seam) have held up well and were I think just 20trl for 3 pairs (75 pence)

This is a lovely town with a great market definitely worth a visit. It has a mixture of clothes, food and general household items. It is popular with locals too. Also a few eateries around too.

Nice to see. Quite ‘hassely’ though and you need to barter which I am rubbish at so probably paid over the odds for some things.

Went to this market on a couple of occasions with Turkish friends, a large marge with plenty of restaurants & coffee shops surrounding it.
An all event as something for all.
Lots of locally grown fresh foods, clothes & household items.
Well worth a visit ;)

I'd heard about this Saturday Market in Suklec, but it was a bit out of my way, as I was staying in Soke, passed Kusadasi. As I was here for over 2 weeks and I'd already done the Wednesday Market in Kusadasi along with the shops in The Centre, I fancied checking it out along with seeing a new town.
I tied it in with a visit to a Turkish Bath in the area, so as not to take too long travelling there with 2 buses or an expensive taxi ride.
The first thing I noticed was that nearly everyone was wearing masks, including the children. This was refreshingly good to see and it's like this in the town aswell.
The market is busy, but not crowded, and seems to be in 2 halves, one for food ect, the other for clothing and everything in between. There isn't much Social Distancing, which is pretty impossible at a market, though like I said, there wasn't crowds, so you could maintain an OK distance.
Also, refreshingly great, especially towards the end of my holiday, was there was much less mithering. I normally take my headphones for shopping in Turkey, but didn't even get them out. Yes, there's the usual stall sellers trying to get your attention to their stall, just like back home in the UK, but not so much of the exhausting on and on with each and every seller. There are many locals shopping here, with some tourists, so maybe that's why. On the one stall where I bought a zip up top, it took him a few minutes to even acknowledge me-I was almost offended 😆. There is also less bartering. You you can barter, but the seller is not going to chase you down the street you.
To be honest I did expect a lot more of the Genuine Fakes at this Market, and there are quite a few, but not loads. There was a lot more in the shops in the Centre of Kusadasi at morealess the same price and quality. The food side was pretty vast and I was shocked to buy a bag of grapes for 20tl-20p 😳. That was lunch sorted 😋.
Overall, a great way to spend a couple of hours and a nice town with lots of lovely little spots. Ephesus is only 3km away, so I ended up walking up there for the rest of the afternoon.

Visited this and spent over five hours wondering round, drinking apple tea and having lunch.
Such friendly and funny people.
Laughed so much when bartering to buy belts.
Somewhere you should certainly not miss.
Would have been there this year if it wasn't for this awful virus.

This was a hidden gem discovered during our stay in Selcuk. Our taxi driver Hussein who was born and raised in Selcuk, suggested this to us when he dropped us off at the town centre at the end of our tour of the ancient city if Ephesus and visiting House of Vigin Mary. It happened to be a Saturday. We decided to stroll down the make shift alleys of the local market. 100s of vendors lined the markets with an assortment of goods. All locally grown fruits and veggies, eggs, meat and poultry lined up neatly around us. Then there were alleys of rows and rows of intimate clothing lines of sweaters and tshirts. Handmade jewellery and dolls were there too. The best part was mingling with the local people. The farmers who actually grew those cages and the skilled who actually knitted those dolls were the vendors. With very limited English, we would bargain with hand gestures and alot of smiles. U gotta do this if you are in the area in the region on a Saturday.
