Gila was our group tour guide. She was so knowledgeable and friendly! After our group trip, Gila met a few of us in Jerusalem. She covered so much information and history - while making the tour fun and interesting. I’m already thinking ahead to a family trip and will make sure Gila is our guide.

I joined Gila’s tour of the Tel Aviv central bus station and it was fantastic. It’s a truly strange, layered space and Gila showed us the hidden gems, context, and history to really appreciate it. Would definitely recommend!

I just wanted to tell you that I had an absolutely amazing time on your tour. I love transportation so the idea of the tour was right up my alley. It was a lot of fun learning about the history of the place, chatting with new friends and walking around in my old haunts (read: upper bus platforms) and also digging into the dungeons. Despite the stench. Thank you so much!!!

Israel has depth, spirit, a hugely interesting blend of past and present. Gila is a superb guide to it all. She is personable, extremely engaging, and is always prepared to guide you to the best and most interesting places. My wife and I have taken two tours with her. She has dazzled us with her insights and her breadth of knowledge. You cannot go wrong with Gila as your guide.

Gila is possibly the best tour guide we have ever had. She co-lead a 9 day Arts and Culture tour. Gila’s love of Israel and passion for sharing many sites tourists typically don’t experience was fantastic. This was our 10th trip to Israel and we learned and experienced so much thanks to Gila. This tour was extremely well planned and executed.
We highly recommend Gila. She’s top notch.

Gila is a wonderful tour guide. She is fun, interesting, and most importantly, really knows the history, geography, geology, and religions of Israel. She uses poetry, historic photography, and visual aids to enhance her presentations. She took us to offbeat neighborhoods, as well as the more well known places.
I recommend her highly-she is well informed, has a great sense of humor, and a pleasure to be with.

Gila Levitan is a highly knowledgeable, articulate, punctual, flexible, caring, and energetic guide whom we were lucky too be introduced to for part of our stay in Israel during the first half of April 2024. We readily recommend engaging her as your preferred tour guide on your next visit to Israel.
We ended our visit in Tel Aviv with Gila. The tour she created was a customized itinerary for a person with vision constraints and Gila developed a 2 day walking tour of Tel Aviv and Jaffa.
She took us into the old and new, her explanations rich with stories spanning art, science, geology and humanities. Gila wove together personalities with history and politics and religion all the while ensuring that the person with vision constraints was advised “a few steps to the left here, railing to the right” and careful, cross-walk has a light”.
We averaged about 15,000 steps on each of the two days under such guidance, and it did not feel quite the challenge it sounds like because Gila made it easy with sufficient breaks at off-the-beaten-track cafés, viewpoints, and readily accessible restrooms. Gila engaged us all the while in lively conversation on many a random subject including the subject matter she wanted us to understand for that particular location.
In addition to being punctual and compassionate, Gila is highly knowledgeable. When we inquired how she remembered so much detail she credited both the 2 year licensing / training program for professional guides in Israel and her own love of the job, which she describes as being a front-line Ambassador of Israel. Clearly, she holds herself to a higher standard than the simpler narration of date place person architecture etc.
In the week preceding and days following our visit Gila traveled to other parts of Israel to prepare for a different tour she was expecting to give, on her own time and expense. It turns out Gila spends one-third of the year on such research trips and excursions, at a direct loss of opportunity to earn income from guiding. When asked why she wouldn’t just take the beaten path, Gila explained that while history may be static, her research trips show her evolution and angles about places in Israel that helps her freshen up the way to present Israel to visiting strangers. We benefited from her knowledge with the many alleyways and markets and food stalls and stores she took us to and when we made an impromptu request or statement expressing interest. This made Tel Aviv a lot of fun, even if it meant we had to choose skipping museums and art galleries which she had originally put on her itinerary for us. Clearly she does the off the beaten track for all locations she guides in Israel, not just Tel Aviv – and the tourist that recruits Gila will directly benefit as they get to see Israel as an insider.
Gila was always mindful of our safety and comfort, making sure we were well informed about the political or social environment during our visit.
In getting to know Gila over lunch and the occasional chocolate fudge brownie, it was clear that her public policy experience, her 20+ year continuing journey of a first world citizen immigrating to another first world country, her travels within and outside of Israel, her spirit of continual self-improvement and pride in work have all contributed to make Gila’s guiding effort special.
We had never met Gila before, but it is obvious she is skilled at her profession because she kept injecting freshness into the circumstance we presented her with at the end of a long, tiring visit with handicaps. We also had the extra benefit of Gila’s personality; charming and friendly. We are grateful for the extraordinary experience she gave us.
This review was not generated by Travelocity AI and we urge you to visit Israel despite all the news, and hire Gila and the two other individuals who guided us (ask her, she knows them).

Thoroughly enjoyed the time with Gila. We did a walking tour through Tel Aviv. The graffiti/ street art tour through Florentin was fascinating. Her knowledge of the neighborhood, the artists, and the art was excellent. Got some really good restaurant suggestions too.

Once Gila and I stepped through the Jaffa gate of old Jerusalem, the experience began. We walked thought out the old streets and her vast knowledge of the timeline and history of Jerusalem was overwhelming and impressive. She has away of telling you a story that’s like a book you can’t put down. We also had a beautiful lunch that I will always remember.
Clearly my favorite part was walking the path of Jesus . At the end after visiting Jesus tomb . Gila finish with a story about how the foundation of what we saw today had a lot to do with a rock. She had the ability with this story to open my mind and had me tearing up with emotion.
I will always will remember that moment . Gila thank you for one of my favorite times of all times. 🙏🏼

Gila was a fantastic tour guide! We travelled with our two teenage kids and they were always so engaged and interested in all the information Gila had to share. She organised some amazing experiences for us that we will never forget. I highly recommend her for guiding and trip planning.

My wife and I are visiting Israel again in August.
We will be staying in Tel Aviv then at the Dead Sea and finally in Jerusalem.
Whilst in Jerusalem we may be interested in having a Private Guide take us around City of David and the Southern Wall Excavations on August 15th 2018.
Please advise cost for 4 to 6 hours on that day.
Appreciate your early reply.
Thanks & Regards

Hi,
I am arriving at Jerusalem on Monday, are you available for private tours for Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday?
We are a family of 5 people from Mexico.
Do you have an itinerary defined? Which is it?
How much would it cost?
We also want to go to Bethlehem and Nazareth, you do tours in this places as well?
We will be renting a car for transportation.
Greetings,
Francisco Silva
