This is a tough climb from top to bottom I lost so much water weight on the climb take snacks and water with you cause it’s people there over charging for water and snacks at the top. But once you make it to the top you’ll see why it was worth the climb. The views are phenomenal and the soul humbling climb puts your mental state in a good place. A must go for all Muslims

It was a spiritual experience to say the least. A must visit for all Muslims.

The plan was to leave the hotel at 4.30. Hike up to the summit, do solat subuh, watch the sunrise and hike down. Didnt go as planned.

We took Uber which cost 40 Riyal. The driver dropped us off at a dark alley and told us the start point is just a walk ahead. Unfortunately when we reached the supposedly start point it was boarded up. The start point and route had just been changed 3 days ago. We had to take another taxi to Hira Cultural Centre, the new start point, a spanking new complex.

The new route was well-marked. There were quite a number of hikers going in both directions. The trail was both sandy and rocky. It then started to drizzle which made the rocks quite slippery. Some parts were quite steep and could be quite overwhelming for someone afraid of heights.

When we reached the Hira Cave, I was so emotional. To be at the same place where Prophet Muhammad was, it was surreal. I managed to climb into the cave. The entry was narrow but manageable. A few people did their solat in the cave itself. I didn’t but decided to leave the cave to allow others to come in.

We did our solat at the summit, at the roofless mushollah. The view was spectacular from the summit.

When we hiked down, we could see the old closed route which we believed was so much steeper but much much shorter. The distance was only 4.2 km and it took us a total of 2.30 hours.

A very uplifting spiritual experience. This mountain has the cave of Al-Hira', wherein the Beloved Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (pbuh), received the first verses of the Holy Qur'an via the archangel Jibril. The climb isn't as bad as you may think. I found it quite easy. There were toddlers and many old ladies climbing up to the cave, which is at the peak. However, the mountain does not appear to be looked after by the Saudi authorities - it is full of strewn refuse/garbage all the way to the top.

This place is a very unique place because here is where Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) received the first message from God, through the Ange Gabriel (Jibril ) The cave is in the top of this mountain, and to get there is a very steep road amde of very different heights steps, it is difficult to get there, and the worst part is when you finally make it to the top and find the cave, well, you cannot even get close to it, because the entrance is full of people that are pushing and shoving and yelling, all want to get isnide at the same time and they don't let you go... The people that get inside they take too long, they start praying to the stones inside and kiss them and do all sorts of things inside that takes too long, meantime in the outside is the mayhem happening, I don't know what would be the best time to go, but we went around 1 PM I mean 1PM right outside the cave, stayed for about 1/2 hour and couldn't move an inch and I was getting crushed by more people coming and hardly anybody coming out of the cave, We didn't make it to the inside, there were very uneducated people there. A guy came out of the cave and just passed over a pre-teen girl that was sitting down next to a wall and hit her head with such force while he was passing that he head bounced back and forth, I pushed him and told him "BE CAREFUL" he just kept going like nothing happened and the poor girl was probably in such pain, I saw her mother or a relative asking her if she was ok. We left after seeing this. Dirty.

We climbed Jabal Al Noor just after praying Asr at the masjid attached. It took us 45 minutes and the heat and the tough incline made it difficult. Once at the top, we prayed maghrib which was beautiful. We could not get to the cave as it was so busy but I could see lots of people going in to the cave and offering nafal. If is a must do for those going to perform Umrah.

Not as difficult as people made it out to be, but it is definitely tough on the muscles. Wear shoes with good grip, bring lots of water, and watch your step. InshAllah make dhikr while you’re going up and all will be good. Keep your hands free to grab on to help you climb, and be extra careful about where your next step is. Go just after Asr to climb up by Maghrib and enjoy Isha at the top. I’ve seen people of all ages and (dis)abilities make it to the top by the will of Allah. Once you’re at the top, use the route between the rocks to get to the actual cave; the one around and over the rocks is tough and a little dangerous.
