The cultural and historical Saadabad Palace Complex, dating back to the Qajar and Pahlavi eras, when the country was on the road to modernity, was initially constructed and inhabited by the Qajar dynasty in the 19th century to be used as a summer palace. It consists of 17 palaces, museums, and halls. However, only ten Saadabad Palace museums are open to the public.
If you just want to take a very brilliant memory of Tehran, visiting this palace, even just some palaces, it is recommended more the one hundred percent!

The Saad َAbaad complex consists of 18 palaces and museums in a beautiful garden; A lush garden is an excellent place for passing a couple of hours.
The decoration inside the palaces, notably the White Palace and the Green Palaces, is fantastic. Also, you can see the luxurious belongings of the royal family of the last kings of Iran.
Moreover, there are several museums in the Complex, including the Farshchian Museum, the Museum of the Royal Automobiles, Mellat Museum (Nation Museum), etc. I was fascinated by the Farshchian Museum that was full of beautiful paintings.
After visiting the Saad Abaad complex, we visited Darband Recreational Site in the same neighborhood and had lunch there. That was an excellent experience, I suggest it.

An irani freind took us to this complex on our first day. We were still quite tired and a bit overwhelmed.
We would probably have problems getting to or from it alone as it is so far in the north.
But it is quite cool (compared to the rest of the city) with beautiful gardens and palaces - although we only went into the green palace (no pictures allowed).
One would deffinatly need more time to see more.

The whole Sa’dabad complex used to be the Summer Palace for the Iranian royal family; and it is more than 1 square kilometer. It would take one more than 3 days to visit all the palaces and the museums in the complex. We stayed at the 5-star Parsian Azadi International Hotel, which is less than 15 minutes away from the Sa’dabad complex.

The complex is around 1 hour of driving from/to IKA (Imam Khomeini International Airport), which is not very ideal. Highly Recommended.

The historical and cultural complex of Sa’dabad is a collection of mansions and palaces which is located in refreshing and good weather foothills of Mount Tochal and the lush and green valley of Darband in Tajrish distinct, North of Tehran.
It is a 300-hectare complex built by the Qajar and Pahlavi monarchs and includes more than 180 hectares of natural forest, streets, qanats, galleries, mansions/ palaces, and museums.
Among 18 palaces Ahmad Shahi's Palace is the oldest one, but it's not available to visit now. Green Palace (Palace of Reza Shah Pahlavi) is one of the most beautiful buildings in the garden which is constructed on a hill in the north-west of Sa’dabad complex.
you should get a separate ticket for visiting each palace

These days Saadabad is a historical place which is used for different types of musuems. You should buy different tickets for every building. I like green palace architecture, and water & "Omidvar" brothers museums more. Also there are lots of planted trees in its garden which are unique in Tehran and so I like walking in the place beside the museums.
