My visit to the Louvre Abu Dhabi was nothing short of extraordinary. The museum’s architecture alone is a masterpiece, with its stunning dome creating a magical “rain of light” effect that enhances the serene atmosphere. Inside, the collection is thoughtfully curated, seamlessly blending art from various cultures and eras, offering a unique narrative of human creativity. From ancient artifacts to modern masterpieces, each gallery feels like a journey through time, with exhibits beautifully displayed in open, airy spaces.
The experience didn’t end with the art—the museum’s restaurant was equally impressive. With its elegant ambiance and waterfront views, it was the perfect place to relax after exploring the exhibits. The food was a delightful fusion of French and Middle Eastern flavors, reflecting the cultural blend the Louvre Abu Dhabi represents. Every dish was meticulously prepared, and the service was impeccable, adding to the overall luxury of the experience. It’s a place that nourishes both the mind and the senses, leaving an indelible mark on anyone who visits.

I stopped off in Abu Dhabi purely to visit The Louvre and it was quite simply outstanding,
Public transport to the gallery is not really an option but luckily taxis are fairly inexpensive.
The architecture is stunning and there is something new to discover around every corner. A wonderful surprise was the pool in which sea turtles are rehabilitated. It is easy to miss. Just look for the lettuces floating in the water!
The exhibition at the time I visited was ‘Letters of Light’ which was a collection of manuscripts and sacred texts from around the world. It was superbly staged and more interesting than it may sound.
The actual gallerias were beautifully curated with a marvellous narrative, which flowed perfectly, from the earliest art to the most modern pieces. It was overwhelming, in the most positive way! There really was something to engage even those who think they don’t appreciate art.
Unlike many galleries you could get close to the pieces, but not too close as the security keep a discreet but watchful eye. I found the staff to be focused but helpful.
The restaurant/cafe was a lovely spot to sit back and relax while taking in the wonderful water vistas and the staff member in the shop, which has a great range of merchandise, was so friendly and engaging.
Having worked a lifetime in art and visited the various Guggenheims, The Metropolitan NYC, The Prado et al. this may well be my favourite gallery anywhere. I so look forward to my return visit.

As a second time visitor, I was looking forward to the artworks and artifacts from around the world and was not disappointed. Enjoyed their collection on the Asian Trade Route, "Caravans and the Silk Road." Exhibits are well laid out in the galleries and invites you to explore more.

Some great art and artefacts, but no star attractions. Worth a visit but other than the amazing architecture and design, it is a regular museum. Displays rooms are enormous and spacious, so you should enjoy it even if crowded. In August, it was not busy, and there seemed to be more security guards than visitors!

It was Day 6 of my UAE trip and we took a day tour to Abu Dhabi from Dubai. The first stop was Louvre Museum. We were given roughly 1.5 hours to explore the museum but I felt that was quite less time to explore the full museum. We missed the few sections. I guess one can easily spent 2-3 hours here. The collection is pretty amazing and sourced from various parts of the world. There are permanent exhibitions and then some temporary exhibitions. The architecture of the museum is quite marvellous as well. One can do a Kayaking here at extra cost. I would definitely recommend visiting this musuem if you are a history and art buff.

Great experience, wonderful day out in Abu Dhabi.
Beautiful architecture and fun options for the kids with the interactive game which gets them involved in the history and cultural aspects of the collections and exhibitions. Great summer discount on tickets also in August and free entry for under 18s!

We had the pleasure of touring the Louvre with What A Wonderful World (Waww) Magazine, and it was an unforgettable experience. The architecture alone is breathtaking and well worth exploring with Igor, even without the exhibitions. The exhibition halls are so thoughtfully designed that the arrangement of the artworks itself feels like an art form.
I actually found myself enjoying the Louvre Abu Dhabi more than its Paris counterpart. The exhibition there is more concise, featuring one or two iconic works from the world’s most celebrated artists. It’s like a brief journey through time, showcasing everything from ancient Egyptian mummies to pieces by Leonardo da Vinci and Jackson Pollock. They focus on the masterpieces, so almost every piece on display is instantly recognizable. The atmosphere is also incredibly pleasant.
We visited on a weekend morning, and while it was busy, there were no lines. We managed to cover the entire exhibition in under two hours. I’d also recommend taking some time to admire the building itself—it’s as impressive as the exhibitions inside.
Transportation was convenient, with taxi ranks and buses readily available outside.

The collection is diverse and thoughtfully curated, making it easy to connect with different cultures and histories. The museum’s layout and design are both elegant and immersive, providing a perfect backdrop for the art on display. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. Surprising journey through the History of World Art.
A journey through time, with a chronology centered on the Fertile Crescent and a global extension of human genius.
I regret that the fifteenth-century part is so Western-centric
Beautiful museum in an extraordinary building that has its counterpart in Doha with the Museum of Islamic Arts.

Anything in Abu Dhabi you needed proof of both covid test plus vaccination record. That was in may 2022. Hopefully someone there now can assist. Otherwise, email the louvre and ask

good afternoon !
I would like to know if the dome of the Louvre Abu Dahbi museum, which allows light to enter in such a beautiful way, also allows the passage of rain? I imagine it rains little in Abu Dahbi, but still, is the dome leaked?
Thank you in advance !
Monica
