Beautiful beach minutes walk from lemon bay beach. If you are looking for a quiet spot this is it. You can enjoy sunning on the beach, there are also shaded areas with trees, and swimming and if you want to eat it is a short walk to the restaurants on lemon bay

Bonjour from Noumea, New Caledonia. We had a privately guided tour with the wonderful Vavau Transport Anne. Due to use being a party of 11, herself AND her husband treated us to the BEST Tour EVER. Her wealth of knowlegdge was immeasurable. Her kind demeanor and love of her country made the trip pleasurable. We avoided tourist filled hot spots, and discovered all the treasures this GORGEOUS Island has to offer ~ Harbourview, City Highlights, Peninsula of the Canons du Owen Toro, Anse Vata Bay to Lemon Bay, Cultural Centre, Chateau Royal and Local Markets. Noumea was our Oyster and Anne catered to all our needs.
Upon Arrival Anne N Mavae Fonua gifted each of us, our own Shell Lei Necklace, my child received his own personal French Gift, locally bottled spring water and we all recieved the most Delectable Noumea Chocolates along with Christmas Candy Canes 🎄
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED WILL NOT DISSAPOINT.

Lovely beach. Currently under maintenance with new boardwalk being built. Seemed to be around 75% completed along the Ouen Toro end end with the 25% yet to be done along the Aquarium end with good progress being made. Where the works has been done the boardwalk is lovely to walk along. Locals and visitors alike seem to come here to enjoy the beach and hanging out. Great place to be for sunset as it can be viewed very clearly from here.

Noumea is extremely expensive and this beach was closed to swimmers. There is very little other activities to do unless you have a windsurfer.

Firstly you can’t swim here due to the sharks. And you can’t even walk down the the beach due to roadworks and beach works. Overall Australia has better beaches absolutely everywhere. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

I have put a low 'average' score because of what the government has done, and is continuing to do, to the Anse Vata beach front. What on earth are they trying to do? The bay had a great mix of white sand beach backing onto a soft green grass embankment which was shaded by a mix of palms and other substantial trees. All the locals and tourists I spoke to loved having a comfortable shaded area to rest when they had had enough sun. Almost all the trees and grass have been removed along 3/4 of the beach and the destruction is continuing. Several popular water sports businesses have been displaced and prevented from doing business, or will be soon. The swimming ban was bad enough (statistically much higher chance of being attacked by a shark in Aus). Aside from the above, I absolutely loved the place, the people and the water sports and wanted to go back. Looking at the beach on Google Earth now, I have serious doubts.

A condition que les requins ne s'y aventure pas on a pu en profiter et une plage accessible facilement avec du sable, des bancs pour s'asseoir, une eau limpide et chaude. Des commerce tout le long de la plage? rien de bien exotique mais très agréable.

Anse Vata beach is a very popular spot for tourists and locals. The water is warm and pristine. Close to a lot of coffee ships and restaurants as well. Highly recommended.

We couldn't easily get to the beach because there were temporary fences and earthmoving equipment everywhere. There is, however, a number of restaurants to choose from on the other side of the road.
It's probably pretty nice.

Hi-we hoped to get to duck island but our ship is now arriving at 3pm. Is it still worth going to duck island? If we get a taxi from port to anse vata to get there as quick as possible and then water taxi across, we might get there by 4pm. But will that be enough time to do the snorkel trail there or is it just too late? Will visibility be bad because the the light will be too late and too windy by then? Also when do the water taxis stop running? (we are going to be there oct 14th - next week) If anyone knows any of this information, I'd be really grateful-thank you!
Skrevet 7. oktober 2019
Im pretty sure the water taxi runs until around 5.30pm. The snorkelling isnt fantastic there but its definitely worth a visit. Certain sides of the island are protected from the wind. Theres nothing stopping you from doing a quick snorkel as well.

WE are coming to Noumea on a cruise and want to catch a water taxi to Duck Island- where do I catch the taxi from in relation to the cruise terminal, and how much in Australian dollars?
Skrevet 2. januar 2019
The taxis run from Anse Vata beach. If you look online at Lyvai they provide a hop on hop off service with a taxi ride to Duck Island for approx $20USD per person. The hop on hop off service picks you up from the terminal and runs around to Anse Vata beach along with other stops. You can hop on and off the bus whenever you want. We didn't do Duck Island but will definitely do it next time. Lyvai were very efficient and friendly. Enjoy!

Hello we're going over to New Mia and try to get over to duck Island can you walk from the cruise ship terminal to the Ferry area where you catch the boat over to duck Island
Skrevet 12. juli 2018
Waaaaayyyy too far to walk. I did it but it took over an hour each way
Skrevet 16. oktober 2018
Getting offa cruise for maybe 5 to 6 hrs what’s the best things to do in noumea
Skrevet 31. oktober 2017
Once the ship is in port passengers are transported to the Cruise Terminal in Noumea's city centre. Here, there are several tours on offer ( cheaper than ship offers) as well as a small market upstairs of local handicrafts & souvenirs.
Tours range from city tours showing history & places of interest through to water sport activities.
Places of interest are The Cultural Centre showing the island's original Kanak village life. The hop on hop off bus is good value for a do it yourself tour. The bus stops at several places along the route such as beaches, markets, aquarium, shopping centres, restaurants & bars.
A short walk from the cruise terminal is the famous french pastry bakery, L'Atelier Gourmand & also the Place des Cocotiers or Coconut Palm Square which is a park & central gathering place of Noumea, it has a selection of cafe's & shops surrounding the area. Nice park to wander & take in the ambience of the country.

Hi there,
How often do water taxis to Duck Island (or other islands) leave from from Anse Vata? Where can I find the time table as I haven't been having much luck from Google.
Cheers

Book the Yellow Water taxi boat at Anse Vata, only takes 5 minutes from the shore to the Island.

Are there toilets at Anse Vata that are accessible for a person in a wheelchair?

Hi I certainly will visit this island when in Noumea but I'd like to know how long to spend on the island to see it properly. I am visiting a relative but won't be returning and want to 'do it well' My cousin says 3 weeks. Any other advice. I want to see it all but don't tend to sit around relaxing much.
Skrevet 29. november 2016
3 weeks should be fine, but bring lots of money it's very expensive. I understand you may be able to rent campers on the island. that's what I would look into next time.

How much does the bus cost to get here 'Anse Vata Beach' and back, to Noumea?
Skrevet 20. november 2016
It was 210 f for a one way bus trip - it doesn’t mayptter if you go 2 stops or to the terminal. We were in Noumea in September 2017. Good to have the correct money to give the driver who gives you a ticket you ‘stamp’ into the machine.

Our cruise ship will arrive at Noumea in Jan 2017. We want to go to Duck Island for snorkelling, but unsure how to best do this. How do we get to Anse Vata from where the cruise ship shuttle takes us to (I think at the Noumea Tourist centre, near the market) to catch the water taxi to Duck Island?
Any advice would really be appreciated.

Hey Kim,
Just near the market there are lots of piers with different companies doing daily trips to Duck Island and Llot Maitre ( where i was staying ) I haven't been to Duck Island but I guarantee a stunning snorkelling in Llot Maitre.
As for Anse Vata you can catch a bus just there on the road ( near Mc Donald's ) and it'll take you about 20min ride, you can buy the tickets on the bus and it's around 2AUD$. Bus system is pretty good and easy to understand anyways.
Enjoy New Caledonia!!

Will be on a cruise this winter in French Polynesia, would you recommend visiting beaches in Lifo Isle, Port Vila, Lautoka and Ile des Pins?
Skrevet 1. juli 2016
Isle de pines is definitely worth a visit as the water is teaming with sea life. A little hard to get to in a short timeframe. A few days is needed to do it properly.
