Although very inexpensive, this activity is really not worth the visit. Starting with a catastrophic reception at the entrance, it took us 40 minutes to get our tickets. A not at all smiling, not at all commercial host, what’s more, on her phone, turned us the computer screen and held out the mouse and keyboard and let us do our registration by continuing to be on her phone and chat with her college. After 3 attempts to finalize the registration, only to not work and at the time of payment impossible to pay by card.
Arrived at the entrance of the snake Park (after being alpaulated not very politely and insistently by the waitress of the restaurant) a second catastrophic welcome offering me a guide... free.... BUT who tells you that you still have to tip him after the visit. Not to mention the conditions of the animal cages, and the 3 miserable aquariums that clearly hurt the heart to the “aquarium” side of the park.
All this why?

We enjoyed having a quick look around after the museum but wouldn't have been prepared to pay the full price for a ticket and wouldn't recommend coming here specifically.
There are some snakes and tortoises in the open. Some of the cages are very dirty which makes it hard to spot the snakes. There is also a small aquarium.
Staff encourage tourists to hold the animals and take pictures, but I would prefer it if they let them be.

This small zoo is located right next to the national museum, so many people go here afterwards. Not a great attraction, but some young kids might enjoy it.

That may be an unpopular opinion, but my 7yo daughter really enjoyed the snake park. One of the keeper made her manipulate a (non venomous) snake, a chameleon, touch a crocodile and tortoises. She was mesmerized by all the reptiles. We spent a good 1.5 hours there and she could have stayed longer. Great stop after the Nairobi National Museum (which she very much enjoyed too). Yes it’s small and a bit battered, but for kids it can be an amazing experience (and adults who got to touch these reptiles seemed to be happy with their experience. I personally stayed away ;) )

It is really close to the Nairobi National Museum and you can buy tickets at the same time, so really good to combine. The park is ok, but renovations are needed. There is a really nice exhibit in the middle with a couple of snakes and lizards in there. Further are a lot of venomous and less dangerous snakes. A lot of snakes inhabit Kenya for example the black mamba and different cobra species. Some exhibits are nice, others less. The exhibits for the crocodiles and alligators need renovation. It is nice, but also small and you will be out there between half an hour/hour.

One thing that I missed when I came on safari, was the small 5. The Big 5 are what everyone wants to see, and you have to stay in your vehicle for your protection. But I wanted to see a puff adder, and a black mamba. It was much safer here than in the wild.

The Snake Park lies a little below the National Museum, and is partly housed in a small building, with a central garden—a little set of trees, bushes, rocks and a tiny pool, through which move various reptilian species: lizards, harmless snakes, and tortoises. Around this runs a corridor with built-in display cases that house more dangerous species: black and green mambas, cobras, gaboon vipers, the African puff adder (Africa’s most dangerous snake) among them. Off to one side, a doorway leads into a couple of tiled rooms which contain a small, unimpressive aquarium: dimly lit and avoidable.
Outside, after you’ve gone past the puff adder and some other snakes, the corridor descends to a few larger enclosures which house bigger species: tortoises, a Nile crocodile, and an American alligator among them.
The Snake Park is easily covered in an hour, or even less. You can buy a ticket at the main gate here, or at the gate of the National Museum—we bought a combined ticket for both the museum and this. Unless you’ve exhausted all other sights to see or are exceptionally keen on reptiles, I wouldn’t recommend it. The display cases are, in most cases, shabby and stained, and generally look in serious need of maintenance. The collection is all right, but not great.

What is the entrance fee 2018
for both snake park and national museum
Skrevet 25. desember 2018
What is the entry fee to Snake Park? If the fee is included in the entry fee of National Museum, what is the entry fee of Museum? Whether crocodile farm and reptile farm are all included in one fee of National Museum? It is unfortunate that no review describes these features and most of the reviews have concentrated on discouraging the readers not to visit this park.

There are separate tickets for the museum and the snake park or combined. We enjoyed the museum too so I would suggest you get a combination ticket.
The prices are on their website which TripAdvisor will not let me post here. Just google: Nairobi National Museum entrance fees 2016. Prices depend on whether or not you're a resident. So if you're a non-resident it would cost you KES 1500 (Around 15 USD) for a combination ticket. Snake park alone is KES 1200. So for that extra 3 USD I would definitely recommend you go to the National Museum too. These prices are for adults.
By the way, The snake park isn't bad. It has quite an interesting collection of very lively snakes. It only seems a bit run down.

Hey,
Do you have to make some sort of special arrangement to get a chance to hold the reptiles?
