La nostra guida di China highlights su mia richiesta ci conduce in questo tempio dell'artigianato. Una guida ci spiega le varie fasi della lavorazione dal baco al prodotto finito, qui sono passate illustri personalità da Putin. Busch alla Thacker... Ed anche noi. Il personale è così gentile che non riesci a dirgli no, infatti avevamo palesato un minimo interesse per un intima di seta capendo il valore delle materie prime e la sua lavorazione. Il prezzo molto vantaggioso il nostro dubbio era l'ingombro per il bagaglio. In men che non si dica ce lo hanno confezionato sotto vuoto con un peso di 2 kg :è stato impossibile dire di no, sappiamo bene che è un ottimo prodotto ma... Non preventivato. È possibile acquistare cravatte, sciarpe, cuscini, e porta fortuna... Insomma cose meno ingombranti..

We visited here in Early April 2019.
Many of us purchased bedding and was advised it would be shipped to us in arriving in one month.
It is now a couple of days off June and no bedding package from Beijing, which is concerning.
Especially reading earlier posts regarding purchases from this place.
Has anyone ever received their purchases?

Brief tour - great as an extra experience if your in the area. Very informative from start to finish and great if you get hands on to add a layer to the duvet. Guides are very
knowledgeable and make it a great small group or private tour, fascinating silkworm
cycle / history. Museum part is small and there are all sorts of silk products available to
purchase, obviously they try to make sales but are not too pushy .

Only went to this silk factory as it was included as part the tour. Interesting learning about the silkworm history/cycle and looking at the huge weaving machines. This is more a retail outlet rather than a museum, and upon completing the tour you are taken into a showroom where you can purchase varying silk products, dooners, pillows, etc and the sales staff insistently try to sell you as many products as possible (they even sell suitcases, obviously not silk).
If a silk enthusiast yes go, but if not may not be of interest.

The spiel in very convincing. Makes sense that at a factory you would get genuine products however it is simply not the case. Two of us bought silk underwear that laddered the first mie it was worn. I bought two scarves which were already packaged - should have opened the packing and felt the product and compared it to the one on display. Definitely synthetic. So much static that they crackled and stuck to themselves when removed from the plastic. Also failed the burn test - when a natural fibre is burnt it doesn't have a burnt plastic smell and should produce ash rather than forming a hard bead.

Back in January we visited this place as part of a guided tour that included the great wall. We had a great time learning everything about the silk. We decided to purchase over $3,000 worth of merchandise and we agreed with the manager that it would be shipped out to an address in the US. They gave me a printing label and told it that the stuff would ship within 2 to 3 weeks. Fast forward 4 months later, Ive sent them multiple emails and phone calls and they don't pick up and the items never got shipped. I will have to do a dispute with my bank but what hurts is that we hand picked the items with our children and we were looking forward to it but not only did we never receive anything, it became impossible to get in touch with them.

Amazing for people who want to know about silk. Right from eggs to finished product very well explained with visual props. And its really expensive but you can why it’s expensive because of lots of effort involved in it.

You walk in to a live silk demonstration. Silk worm exhibits. The whole process of silk from start to finish. beautiful garments. The ladies really loved this. Have great photo's on camera which is not with me. Should have used phone.

On entering this beautiful place you are welcomed and a demonstration is given on how they spin the silk from the cocoon of the silk worm. From one cocoon the length of the silk can be 1 and a 1/2 kilometres long. Then there is a further demonstration on how they proceed to manufacture donnas, I was so impressed that I purchased a queen size doona. On this floor are silk products of all kinds (mainly bed linen etc) upstairs there is clothing made only of pure silk, magnificent. Go there and see for yourself, you will spend at least a couple of hours there with no pressure to buy (although you will as I did). And best of all, all the lovely ladies that work there speak English.

Didn't go into games village. Only visit to silk factory. Very interesting. Well worth the time. I should say 70% of us on the tour bought silk pillows and or dooners . They are great.
