Modern, zen, calming: a great place to break from a hectic Hong Kong visit.
My wife and I stopped in to escape a hazy day in Hong Kong, and ended up staying for four hours. The space is gorgeous, and they have a wonderful selection of the highest quality teas. We ended up doing two different tea flights because we loved the first one so much. Everything we tried there was excellent, but I would encourage tasting the Oriental Beauty if you haven't had it before - one of the few expensive teas that I've seen truly justify it's price. If you're looking for an herbal (caffeine free) tea, the apple blossom verbena was delightful
Most importantly I would ask the staff to share their wealth of tea knowledge and lore with you - we were fortunate to meet Nana, the owner, and it's clear that she's passionate and enthusiastic about all things tea.
It's not too far a walk from the HKU station: it's up the hill from the B2 exit, or down the road from Pok Fu Lam. Turn east off of Hill Road onto Po Tuck Street.
Finally, make sure you get to try some of the tea cookies they make in their cafe, super tasty!

I was walking around HKU with my friends and a newly open tea shop caught my eye.
It happened to be their soft opening and we were offered a free tea tasting which is only available in the first week of opening (LUCKY =]).
I can try 3 teas and the staff will then brew and introduce them to me! I tried some black tea and green tea, they are truly amazing!!! I would highly recommend the place for people want to explore the tea culture!

Nana is the "Martha Stewart" of tea experiences. We attended a tea tasting with the founder, Nana, and it felt authentic, yet modern.
You can tell that Nana is a real tea enthusiast, and her expertise of tea covers not just Chinese teas, but also teas from other origins. Plantation’s style is not orthodox Chinese but rather a contemporary, yet aesthetically beautiful style which apparently draws inspiration from Taiwan, India and the West. This brings a very different and sophisticated experience compared to other teahouses in Hong Kong.
The tea tasting brought us through 5 kinds of tea. It covers almost the whole spectrum of tea, and you can understand the characteristics of each category. We had a good time both learning about tea and chatting.
I especially liked their zen meets Saks Fifth Avenue teaware collection - truly unique. I could not resist purchasing as this is exactly what I wanted to remember my trip to Hong Kong.

Plantation is pretty new, but it's one of the places in town that I want to take my friends, so that's what I did when this friend was visiting HK.
Being a shop-in-shop in teakha (a nice tea cafe that I visit often as well), Plantation is a unique space for tea. You can join their weekly tea tasting session, (the one we did), or you can just browse around the space for some nice tea and teaware.
During the tea tasting, the host/conductor talked about basic knowledge of tea, and let us try 5 different teas. They are all quite nice, (my personal favourite is the oolong), and we also had some yummy homemade tea cookies baked on that day!
The host was very nice and share a lot about tea with us. it was less like a formal "class", rather it's a good chance to understand the basic things about tea, at the same time have someone professional to guide you through your first tasting of different flavours.
I'll recommend this to people who are interested in tea but don't know where to start, and since tea is a unique way of looking into Hong Kong / Chinese culture, it's great for tourists too. My friend enjoyed it a lot, learnt about tea, and also got some lovely tea that we tasted as souvenirs to bring back home!
It's not a big store though, I'll suggest joining the workshop (about 2hr?), or to combine it into an afternoon wandering around the tranquil Tai Ping Shan st area.
