The Yeung Hau Temple is stop 10 on the Ping Shan Heritage Trail. It is located just north of the Old Well (stop 9) in a small grassy area. This is one of two temples you will see along the trail and is dedicated to the god Hau Wong. It is also the location of the important Hau Wong Festival held on the 16th day of the sixth lunar month each year.

Historically, the exact date of construction is unknown but it is believed to be around 300 years old. The building you see today was rebuild in 2002. It is a simple open structure with three bays housing shrines with the deities Hau Wong (Holy Marquis), To Tei (Earth God) and Kam Fa (patron saint of expectant mothers). It is worth having a look at the attractive murals under the pitched roof during your stop here.

The Yeung Hau Temple can be conveniently seen in just a few minutes before continuing onwards to the Sheung Cheung Wai (stop 11) attraction just a few minutes away.

This shed-like temple has three parts with different shrines.

Not as ornate as many temples in Hong Kong, but interesting nevertheless. If doing the heritage trail, worth finding.

Though small in size, it is a quite well-preserved historic temple in Ping Shan. Built in traditional Chinese style, the temple allows the visitors to have a glimpse of the its history, the history of the aborginal residents and their local customs. The day I visited, I saw a grandmother and a mother spending time explaining the history of the temple to a handful of children. An amazing life lesson.

Yeung Hau Temple is one of the attractions that you can see along the Ping Shan Trail in historic district of Yuen Long. This is a small temple with three open bays, located behind the Old Well. You can visit at any time daily.

The temple is dedicated to the deity of Emperor Hau Wong and is believed to have been built several hundred years ago. Here you will find three small bays, each with shrine and items of worship to the deities of To Tei (Earth God), Hau Wong and Kam Fa (Patron Saint to Expecting Mothers). The temple is a grey brick construction, typical of other historical buildings you will find in Yuen Long and elsewhere throughout Hong Kong.

In the end, this is one of many interesting historical attractions situated along the Ping Shan Heritage Trail. Its easy to find and worth spending a few minutes to explore and enjoy.
