Went to see the Bruce Lee exhibit which was worth the trip. At the time there was also an Anita Mui exhibit and Jin Yong (learned about him while I was there).

There is also an exhibit that shows the mighty USD!

It's a little far from downtown Hong Kong, but I've always been interested in it, so I decided to come.

Both the permanent and special exhibitions were very impressive and I was very satisfied.

The permanent exhibition I wanted to see the most was "The Eyes on Hong Kong 60+", which gives a good understanding of the history of postwar pop culture in Hong Kong. There were a lot of things that were popular at the time, such as manga and records, and it was so much fun that I wanted to live here.

The special exhibitions I was looking forward to were Bruce Lee's "Ordinary/Dissatisfied - Li Xiaolong (end date undecided)" and Anita Mui's "Perfect Splendor/Plum Fairy (until September 2, 2024)".

The Bruce Lee exhibition seems to be well-received, so I wish it would become a permanent exhibit. Photography is not permitted. At the entrance, there is a notice that says, "Rather than taking photos, please feel Lee's spirit." Staff members were patrolling the area with placards with an illustration of a camera with a line through it.

The Anita Mui exhibition is not as large as I thought, but if you're a fan, it's worth visiting.

Admission to the museum is free depending on the season. Special exhibitions also require admission fees depending on the theme. It would take half a day to explore everything at your leisure, but this time I felt bad that everything was free.

Since the government announce their plan on reorganize the heritage museum, I tend to visit more frequently as you don’t know when would they close the museum.

This time, I went there because of a timeless diva (Anita Mui) exhibit.

It showed some of her clothes when she performed, the awards she won and there was even a short clip about her legacy.

After finish visiting the diva exhibit, I went to visit the ‘Hong Kong pop 60+’ exhibit, it showed all the pop from 60s to 90s, when east meets west, how it influences the music and entertainment trend in Hong Kong. And Of course, you can also witness the legendary wedding dress that Anita Mui wore at her last concert before she passed away.

Besides that, there are other exhibit like chinese drawings and Bruce Lee exhibit as well.

Really worth for every locals and even visitor to go there. Oh ! Don’t worry! It’s free :)

I have been to the HK Heritage Museum many times over the years, and there's always an interesting exhibit. This time it was the exhi it to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the death of Cantopop diva Anita Mui... traces the history of this iconic and most talented lady.... go visit the museum whie you can, as the HK government announced plans, in December 2023, to moce the current Science Museum to the site of the Heritage Museum and scatter around the collections of the latter. If implemented, this would be pretty , not to put too fine a point to it, dumb.

Since a lot of museums are closed (due to renovation) during my travels, this is the only museum that was opened and nearby the place I’m going to.

I like how curated the exhibits are and they even have some special exhibits that they were preparing when I was there. I don’t know if the Pop Culture Museum will be for a limited time but it was the best thing to introduce Hong Kong media to the tourists and other enthusiasts. I really like it. I’m not a fan of Bruce Lee and I think they focus on that area too much?

The only thing I regret was I went there late and I only had an hour to explore the whole museum. Also, please do the QR code surveys and you will get some freebies. I got a document holder with an amazing piece of art in front, a postcard, and a collection of envelopes with several pieces of art as well.

Enjoyable, free museum. Especially if you like/appreciate Bruce Lee. There were also a few very cool, innovative interactive displays. People were very helpful and the museum was modern and super clean. I’d recommend.

The Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Sha Tin is one of the finest in Hong Kong and a very good complement to the HK History Museum in Hung Hum/TST East. The museum is open from 10am to 6pm daily (closed on Tuesdays). Permanent exhibitions are free to visit while special exhibitions usually require a HK$10 per adult ticket purchase.

What you will find are permanent exhibitions highlighted by the T.T. Tsui Gallery of Chinese Art which is a collection of over 700 works of antiquity and treasures that are curated and presented in an excellent manner. Some items date back nearly 2500 years and are in very good condition. This gallery alone is worth making the effort to visit the museum.

Other permanent exhibitions that cover the topics of Pop Culture, Chinese Opera and calligraphy and a particular special exhibition on the life of Hong Kong kung fu legend Bruce Lee which started in 2013 and has more or less been treated as a semi-permanent exhibition since that time. It is a very good introduction to the life of Bruce Lee and there are numerous items from his life that you can see.

Over the years, the HK Heritage Museum has hosted regular rotation of special exhibitions focusing on local and regional art, history and heritage. Presently, there is an interesting special exhibition called Out of Thin Air (until Sept 2023) that showcases the film art culture, providing a behind the scenes look at how art, sets and customs are created for locally produced film and movies.

The museum also hosts impressive international exhibitions that come through on an annual basis. Presently, there is a visual and virtual exhibition about the Versailles which makes use of multi-media and interactive installations to introduce the famous French palace near Paris in a fun and creative way, one in which adults and children can enjoy.

It is worth checking out the museum website to see what exhibitions are being held. If there is something of interest, you can always make a 1/2 day visit to the Sha Tin area to see the museum along with Che Kong and Man Fat Tsz (10,000 Buddha) temples and other sightseeing/shopping and dining opportunities that are nearby.

Not closed at all. Currently there is an awesome Bruce Lee exhibition based on memorabilia from his wife’s collection. Worth it for this alone.

You can take the 49X bus to get to the HK heritage museum. We have bene there several time, this time primarily for the "Remembering Leslie" exhibit, on the occasio of the 20th anniversary of the death of Cantopop legend Leslie Cheung. Small but well done. There is another HK Pop culture exhibit on the first floor which gives you a far more detailed survey of HK's music, cantopop and movie culture from the 1960's to the early 2000's.
