More than 70 islands in the Eastern Sea of Saigon offer rich resources for marine activities. We didn't go to the sea for many years to visit these small islands, so we started our journey and first explored the island.
In Saigon Harbour, there are several companies that operate street crossing to the nearby small island, transportation arrangements are more convenient than ten years ago, wanting that there are not many street crossing routes in the year and there is no fixed schedule, boat to explore the small island is a dream.
There are at least three companies that operate bridge chewing routes, and the fees vary depending on the length of the flight. It should be noted that the "circular island" does not necessarily circle around the island, the actual route is the boat to return in the vicinity of the "like nose hole" after passing the "Half Moon Bay". There are also routes to the east side of the bridge to see coral, so the cost is a bit higher because the journey is a bit longer.
In the boat to see the scenery, there is a delightful landscape, spacious space, the mood is especially happy. Shortly from Saigon Harbour, you can see the Fukuoka Islands (Nihil Islands) on the far front of the sea. Look back at Seigon, behind the mountains, like a huge barrier to protect the bay and village in front. Far to the right of Seigon there are "fishermen" standing on the Clearwater Bay Peninsula.
Approximately 20 minutes drive to see Xiamen Bay, sunny sandy beach, a lot of tourists. The boat continued forward to look at the "nose hole", which is the sea erosion hole on the shore. On the sea, there are often canoes along the coast, mostly several boats in a group, among them, Bridge Tzu is one of the canoe activities hotspots, it is located in the Inland Sea "Sigong Sea", with little wind.
After a few minutes of rest, the boat returned and charged us to the Bridge Tzu Harbour, to take shore to see the "Shao Island". This natural sea strait, about 200 meters long, made up of sand and meteorites, connects the island's "bridgehead" and exposes the surface when the tide drops, and visitors feel walking in the sea. Walk on the "Island Sands" and try to find the "pineapple stone", which has been eroded and eroded by sea water for many years. It is part of an ancient volcano that was active more than 130 million years ago. Near the evening, we sat on the five-hour street back to Sihong and ended the half-day tour. Today the sea and land trips are abundant, in addition to watching the beautiful scenery, also experience the unique geographical environment, plus sunlight, leave good memories.
A rich tourism resource, both suburban and geological parks, as well as coral conservation areas, can arrange a variety of colorful sea and land activities, each suitable to enjoy nature.

Family outing on a long weekend. Take a Sampan ferry from the Sai Kung pier (Koey/ The Plume Lady co.) ($30/person) to Sharp Island, then walk towards the Tombolo at low tide. You can BBQ at the beach which is very clean. There is a 1hr hiking trail from Sharp island to Har Mun (Half Moon) bay which is relatively hilly but well paved, suitable for the moderately fit. There are half a dozen scenic spots for photos which gives you view of the Sai Kung golf course and the Sai Kung bay islands. There is a beautiful beach at Half Moon island which has public facilities and a small kiosk. We took the ferry back and had a nice lunch at Bristobana at Sai Kung pier. The rock formations at Sharp island date back to the Cretaceous period!

We took a junk boat over to Sharp Island in December. We then walked 45mins across the island to Half Moon Bay.
The walk across the island is very up and down and it was hot work! Saying that, I would do it again, the scenery and views along the route were stunning.
Half Moon Bay is very pretty, it is prettier than the beach which the boat landed at so I would definitely recommend it.
I would also recommend taking a picnic as there is one kiosk by the boat landing but it didn't have many options.
Half moon bay is a great day out!

Sharp Island is a popular day trip location for swimming, snorkeling and island exploring. It is located in the Port Shelter, just a couple of kilometres from Sai Kung Village and is accessible by way of regular sampan and kaito boat transportation from the Sai Kung New Ferry Pier (9am to 6pm daily). Tickets can be purchased from the various operators that line the promenade to the main Sharp Island pier (HK$30 round trip) on the north end of the island or the Hap Mun (Half Moon) Bay pier (HK$40 round trip) in the south.
The island includes two main beaches, Kiu Tsui Beach in the north and the very popular Hap Mun Beach down south. This second beach is noted for the fine quality of sand, very clean waters and beautiful scenery. Both beaches have expected facilities including showers, changing rooms, lockers, lifeguards and kiosks. Do note that during the pandemic, these facilities, like all other beaches around Hong Kong are closed.
Another island attraction is the UNESCO Geo Trail found near the main ferry pier. Here visitors can walk a nearly 500 metre trail that crosses a tombolo (land bridge) to a tiny adjacent island. The tombolo is accessible during most of the day but slightly under water during the height of high tides (>1.4 metres).
Along the tombolo and the adjacent small island there are interesting geological features which date back 140 million years when the entire area of Sai Kung was believed to be part of a super volcano. Most interesting are the quartz monzonite, locally referred to as the 'pineapple bun' rocks given their resemblance to this important and popular local food speciality.
There is a nice trail between Kiu Tsui and Hap Mun that is around 1.6 km in distance. The trail crosses from north to south, covering attractive island landscape, climbing to an elevation of around 135 metres above sea level. What makes the trail nice is that it follows a ridge much of the way, providing views of the coastline, the sea as well as other outlying islands on both sides of Sharp Island. When sky conditions are favourable, the views are really nice in both directions.
At the south end of the island, there is a boulder beach that you can explore a bit but be ready for proper coasteering the further you go south as it because rather challenging the further you go. Near the southern tip of the island there is a popular sea cave but given the difficulty navigating on foot, this is mostly a place visited by those with kayaks.
You will notice, particularly on weekends and public holidays, quite a few people camping at both ends of the island, taking advantage of the public facilities found at the two beaches. There are a few BBQ pits and tables as well. The public beach facilities include simple kiosks for food and drink purchases. However, best to bring your own drinks & snacks that you can purchase back in Sai Kung before making your way to the island.

...not really, obviously. Anyway, references to the greatest ever ‘swashbuckling period drama series about a British officer fighting during the Napoleonic Wars’ aside, this is a stunning island easily reachable from the Sai Kung piers. Beautiful views aplenty, especially from the low peaks on the trail, and perfectly clear water to swim in.

We caught a junk boat to Sharp island in November this year. The weather was sunny and dry and we enjoyed the short walk (45min) from the pontoon across to Half Moon Bay. The path was easy to find and led in one direction, and we saw one other person the whole time! It was beautiful, peaceful, and a safe path to follow.

Can we do DIY bbq grill in the islands beach since we're planning to have a bbq party there? Thank you.
Skrevet 27. april 2021
There is a lot of open space around the main Sharp Island Pier for you to have a DIY BBQ. A lot of people wild camping in that area and doing bbqs this spring even during the pandemic.
