Gorgeous and you get a free tour of the place!
Finding where the tour starts isn't easy so here is a quick guide: When entering through gate nr 5 turn left. Turn right to walk between the two small buildings, one of them says Bank on it. You'll see very dark tinted glass windows and a door on your left. That's where you have to go. Or you just stand around lost in the middle of the place and wait until a guide comes back from a tour and picks you up (that's what we did).
There you'll get clothes to cover up if necessary and they'll show you around the Mosque for 20-30 minutes, everything is 100% free.

The architecture itself is very plain, more like Soviet Union rather than stylish elegant traditional Arabic style, even similar to a parking lot I would say. The tour guide was very rude and offensive. I had to input my personal information into their computer. Instead of leaving me do it myself, he kept on verbally rushing me through though his right hand on the mouse was actually quite slow, and no one was behind me to rush for. He got quite pissed just because his rude service was rejected. Then he said I needed to wait for 1 hour. I got quite surprised but then it turned out to be just 1 second, a vicious joke. He asked me to stay in this small room and wait, and my 10kg backpack had already worn me out, but there was no seat, not even a single space to stand, shoe scattering everywhere. He just laughed it away. Suddenly everyone stood up and started to move out, he also rushed me here and there, do this and do that, like I'm just his pet, without the very least politeness and respect. I truly believe he is racist against non-religionists and Chinese! He was also quite rude to the local prayers, no lying, no sleeping, no resting, like he is a school master, bishop or GOD self. His sharing, totally 5 min, was also quite boring and occasionally wrong. Trust me, you will get more from Wikipedia. Anyway a modern building like this won't have much to talk about either, especially weaving with Indonesian nationalism and independence myth. Female toilet is basically unusable, filled with water up to the ankle.

This is an impressive mosque in Jakarta& worth a visit. Very modern building& decoration inside. Bring with you socks to wear or wet wipes to clean your feet after visit, the floor is not so clean!

Huge mosque and interesting place. You'll find people praying and very friendly. I loved this place especially stand in front of Church!

The mosque launches a guided tour every 30 minutes for free. You just need to register at the tourist office. The tour is around 20 minutes, and it takes you only to the second floor of the mosque where you can take pictures from the top.
It is the biggest mosque in jakrta and can hold up to 200k worshipers.

This is a beautiful, modern mosque in Jakarta. It's huge and very pretty inside. But, the best part was the Guide from the mosque who was extremely knowledgeable and explained the meaning behind everything we were seeing (we are not Muslim). He took the time to educate us about not only the mosque itself, but the religion. He even sang the morning prayer to us and explained what it meant. I've visited many mosques but never received the education that I received on this visit.

Die Moschee ist vom Monas wie auch von der Nationalbibliotheksdachterrasse gut sichtbar. In der Nähe ist es schwer, einen Überblick über dieses riesige Gebäude zu finden. Es ist nicht einfach, diese Moschee von innen zu sehen, wir sind sehr weit zu Fuß herumgegangen, aber es gab immer wieder auch nach der Gebetszeit, dass wir nicht reingelassen wurden.

We tried to visit (had to walk to the gate opposite the cathedral) but were told foreigners not allowed in on the weekend. Lady at the gate gave us insightful info about it. Looks amazing!

Sarong (man) and kaffetani (women) are available at the info point at the entrance. The mosque is viewable only with a guide, English speaking for a donation. Obviously not shoes . I think under the knees trouser is accettable.

No you don't need to come in a group you are always welcome during office hours but you must take of your shoes and someone will guide you around of the official employees and if you where a short they will give you something you can use to see the mosque.

If you take a tour, which you will most likely have to do, there is a small area to keep your shoes (which you need to take off at the very entrance to the mosque). If you are dressed inappropriately, they will give you a robe to cover up that you return when the tour is finished.

I can answer my question now :) it takes 40-60 min from airport to mosque by taxi. Taxi drivers want 190-250 rupiah. We made a deal with a taxi driver from airport to city center tour that takes 5 hours. Driver had taken us from airport, take to the city center, we went to mosque, cathedral, and symbol of the city -can't remember name, may be national monument- We paid 600 rupiah
