For those interested in history and WW2 in particular this is a very moving place to visit. The grounds are maintained to very high standard. If travelling by Taxi make sure you get the address details correct for both drop off and collection.

We visited on a very hot and humid day so took a taxi from the MRT station which cost $4:80 well worth it. The mamorial is set on a slight incline and a few steps. It was very tranquil with flowers in the middle section, but the outer stones looked a little neglected, but there were staff gradually pressure washing them. But still no flowers. They look so sad! The fallen deserve so much more? When we had paid our respect, we headed bach to the MRT station, which is a downhill walk, but across a couple of busy roads. It took about 15 minutes. Well, it's worth a visit if you're interested in the history of Singapore. The MRT out off the city, and though the suburbs shows how inventive this countrs is to house its population? A thoroughly enjoyable and reflective morning. Remember to take plenty of water. And there are no facilities, so use the MRTs before you leave there?

Visited the Kranji War Memorial after discovering that one of my relatives is memorialised on the monument to those whose remains were unlocated after the second world war. Over 20,000 names are engraved here.

Worth visiting if you are in Singapore and want to remember the sacrifice of those of many nationalities who fought for the Crown in the Second World War.

Visiting Kranji War Memorial is not just for people who may have a connection to someone who is buried or memoralised here. It is a beautiful place to visit in respect of those who sacrificed their life defending Singapore and Malaya. Take the time to walk around the gardens and memorial and enjoy the peacefulness of this place.

Amazingly beautiful, not something that you should or would associate with a Cemetry. The location, the gardens, the structures, the view were all perfect.
A train to Kranji Station and one of a number of buses (we used 960) about 2 stops drops you at the driveway. A walk up the driveway/entrance road and you are there. It is a sad place to visit, but we wanted to go pay our respects, and were surprised with the beauty of the site. Every bit of it was well thought out and planned. We spent over an hour walking the site, what struck me was the number of unknown graves, such a moving thing to see is a headstone with no name attached.
There is nothing in the immediate area, and it's not a place you will happen upon, so you have to want to go here and make the effort to do so. But it is worth the time and effort, very moving experience.

This site is off the beaten path but provides a momment of solitude to reflects on the sacrifices that allowed Singapore to become Singapore. The diversity of backgrounds reflected on the headstones is a testament to those who fought and died to defend the area. It's located on top of a hill and provides good views of Singapore.

Decided to revisit after last being here in 1989 as a young backpacker.
Used the North South MRT Line from Newton, took about 35 minutes.
When you get off at Kranji station you exit and find buses outside. There are signs pointing the way to the site inside the station.

I caught the 960 bus and travelled 2 stops, you can see the war memorial sign on the left so you shouldn’t miss it. You could walk, its about a kilometre or so but remember it gets hot and there are no facilities at the cemetery and there are some busy junctions to negotiate.

When you get off the bus you need to follow the road adjacent to the bus stop uphill for about 500 metres, it bears off to the right and when you get to the bend in the road you will see the cemetery in front of you

It’s beautifully kept but poignant with so many young men and women of all nationalities and faiths buried there. Its a credit to the CWG how well it’s kept.

The cemetery is on a slope so do consider your abilities before visiting, there is some shade but not too much in the main cemetery itself.

I caught the bus back to the MRT station at Kranji, to do this you have to cross a busy road with a refuge in the centre as the return bus stop is almost opposite the entrance bus stop. It’s fine if you are fully mobile but if not you may want to consider getting a taxi.
I caught the 960 bus back to the MRT but there you will find a purpose built bridge across the road complete with an escalator that links directly to the station.
You can get cakes and food at the station, I did spot a supermarket there too.

Is it worth a visit-?I thought so, it’s good to see there are other aspects to Singapore apart from the shops and city.

Like many visits to war cemeteries, quiet, humbling, peaceful. Impeccably maintained. Worth a visit, especially if you have never been to a war cemetery.
