Providing a different perspective then the rest of my trip, this museum, located in the heart of Little India, didn't quite deliver what I had hoped. Admission wasn't out of line, but I felt the exhibits themselves were a bit run down and could use a little TLC. I'd block about an hour and only visit if you're already in the area.

This museum was a great place to start my visit to Little India and is very reasonable. The Centre provides a 10 minute film with an overview of the history along with an interesting array of historical displays. Definitely worth a visit for the price!

It is a well-designed, well-equipped modern museum. After entering the museum, take the elevator to the fourth floor and visit from top to bottom.

The entrance video room on the fourth floor continues to play the introductory video. It is a very excellent film. The museum contains images and text, as well as memorable relics. The exhibitions show Indian culture and the Indian community in Singapore, and share the stories of Indian Singaporeans and their contributions to the country.

A very high-quality museum. Highly recommended.

We've been here a few times and it is quite a lovely little place to learn about the heritage of the Indians in Singapore. Unfortunately, this time it was not a great experience. There was a neighbourhood primary school in there and their teachers thought it was a good idea to have groups of about 20 kids sit in front of the exhibits while the teacher explained things and asked questions. There were about 5 or 6 such groups so we couldn't escape them nor wait for them to finish their "lessons". While it is lovely to educate the children, the teachers should have been more mindful of paying tourists who also would have liked to have seen the exhibits and read the information. The teachers were inconsiderate and rude. Next time, they should book out the centre for a few hours early in the morning so the experience is not spoiled for others.

One of several ethnic-focused cultural exhibitions in Singapore and arguably the best. The upper level (4th floor) is museum-like and full of historical treasures, while the lower level display traditional costumes and artifacts of Singaporean South Asian pioneers, and ends with a section on Singaporean Indian pioneers.

Highlight is also the staircase that connects the upper and lower levels. Part of the stepwell-inspired glass façade, there are aerial views of the surrounding district, especially Campbell Lane, to be enjoyed.

I have noticed the building for quite some times opposite little india arcade but never realised it as a museum. Level 3 and 4 has permanent galleries with artifacts helpful to understand indian culture, influence and a slice of history of Singapore. It would have been even more enjoyable with guided tours which I missed unfortunately. The introductory film at level 4 on early indian settlement with characters coming live into action from the pictures were very good edutainment - same for the level 3 interactive films for 50's highstreet, 70's little india shopping trips. Overall a must visit for the foreigners who wants to experience the melting pot culture

Officially opened in 2015, this 4-storey building showcases the history, culture, architecture and religions of the Indian community in Singapore.

Level 3 & 4 are permanent galleries, it's huge and spacious here. I like how they start with a video presentation in a mini theatre that gives you a quick overview before walking thru the exhibits. Kids-friendly generally, though some of the religious statues on Level 4 might be a little scary for the younger kids.

Level 2 was a temporary exhibit, currently one on Sikhs (on till 31 Jan 2022) and I was lucky to arrive just as the free tour was about to start. Always nice to have someone explaining the different exhibits and giving extra info and answering questions. Free tours run at 11am and 2pm on Sat, for about an hour. Had a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Sikhism beyond the turban.

Entrance is free for Singaporeans and PR.

A trip to this museum is worthwhile when you wish to learn more about the Indian heritage, influence and culture in Singapore. Today I then released that a part of the founding father of independent India, Gandhi's ashes, were also scattered in Singapore River. Overall the museum is spacious, neat and interactive. Highly recommended!

Visited this museum this afternoon. Wonderful collection which documents the arrival of the first Indians under the HEC deployed to Singapore about the time of Raffles.

The museum looks at the history of migrations and the settlers. Those Indians who have raised to prominence in Singapore - S R Nathan, Rajarstnam, etc spring to mind. It looks at culture and practice, including many items of gold jewellery. Handicrafts and textiles. Religion and prominent Indians in India and their influence on Singapore.

The ground floor had seven paintings on display by Kumuda Krovvidi, a contemporary artist from Mumbai now living in Singapore, and the other is Shivali Mathur - beautiful contemporary Indian folk art painters.

Don’t forget to check out the three sculpture display outside the museum, depicting Masala and showing a chilli, cloves and nutmeg with mace.

Allow about 1 to 2 hours to visit. $8 standard admission for adults. In the heart of Little India. Lift to all levels. Good air conditioning and excellent WiFi.
