A antiga estação de trem foi convertida em centro cultural, um imenso espaço coberto para feiras e outras atividades. Quando visitei havia gente ensaiando coreografias de dança. Bacana

Uma grande estação ferroviária, desde 1914 até 1987, a Estação Mapocho impressiona já do lado de fora, com sua arquitetura de forte influência européia, mas é passando por uma das portas num dos três arcos da fachada principal é que nos deparamos com um espaço muito amplo, com pé direito altíssimo na antiga área de embarque. Desde 1994 o espaço passou a ser um centro cultural, recebendo várias e diferentes exposições. É super fácil de chegar, se você estiver ali pela Providência é só pegar o Parque Forestal e seguir direto, passe pelo Museo de Bellas Artes e continue no Parque até encontrar o Mercado Central de Santiago, a essa altura você já consegue ver a fachada da estação. Ela é bem perto também da estação do metrô Cal Y Canto. O acesso é gratuito, e em nossa visita acontecia uma exposição muito similar a World Press Photo, mas somente com imagens da América do Sul. Muito impactante as imagens. Mas o espaço em si é muito imponente, por conta de sua escala. Estruturas com muito ferro e vidro. Vale a visita, dali você pode ir ao Mercado Central almoçar ou vice-versa.

Although I didn't like the area that the building is in, the place was nice inside and definitely beautiful from outside.
There was a paid exposition in the day I visited it, anyway it was possible to see the interior without entering the paid area.

………………..One is mesmerized by the sheer beau-tii of the condition of this antiquated impressive building which served as a grand train station built in 1912 and was such till 1987 when it was renovated and turned into a Cultural Exhibition Centre. The well maintained concrete structure with its molded designed columns and large wrought iron and glass frontal is a real wonder. When one enters through the automatic doors you find yourself in a love-lii large foyer reception area with its high doomed arches also patterned with molded designs. These dooms forms atrium's where the light shines through the colour tinted windows. Around the foyer there are lots of advertising material about the history of the Mapocho Station and current and future exhibitions which is to take place. On the day of our visit unfortunate-lii there was no exhibitions scheduled. So for us it was free where normal-lii one would have to pay an entrance-fee, for the wool expo the fee would have been $3.000 peso and students $2.000 peso. The next exhibition scheduled for the 21st to the 23rd June 2019 is the Wool exhibition. Once you move on through the foyer area to the very massive hall where the exhibitions are supposed to be held again one is impressed by the massive steel columns keeping up the roof. Here there are lots of small shop-fronts all with different names supposed-lii of famous people in the cultural fraternity. The only activity we found here today was a group of young people preparing for some Dinosaur display as they were donning large dinosaur-costumes. This hall is so big that they even use four-wheeled motorized polishers to clean the place. When you exit this exhibition centre you are confronted with one of the most beautiful sights ever especial-lii in winter, in the distance is the Andes range of mountains covered in pure-white snow, so awesome!...................

Ubicado en la antigua estación Mapocho de ferrocarriles Santiago a Valparaíso, se alza este importante centro cultural, con una fuerte cartelera de eventos durante todo el año.

This magnificent structure design by Eiffel to me calls in memory of the past railroad history of Santiago in the old days , I personally remember takin a train from this station back in 1973 just 1 month before the 11 of September 1973 , to reach port of Valparaiso to embark on ship , many years after the train services were stop due to the high expense of maintaining rail road due to all the earth quakes and other issues associates , then it receives the largest remodeling as a convention center and its Park of the Kings ( parque de los reyes ) which is actually the train lines area , todays is the largest copper structure in the world , I am sure than when this remodeling on its roof with copper, the price of copper was not the same as today making it more special today , Today its a spot for ARTS, exhibition , concerts and other types of events
