Nous avons passé 4 jours de rêves au lodge Cuyabeno dans la réserve du même nom. Le lodge est situé juste à côté de la Laguna Grande ce qui constitue un atout indéniable par rapport aux autres lodges.
Notre guide, Sulema, nous a appris énormément de chose, et sans elle nous n’aurions pas vu autant de singes et d’oiseaux.
Les repas étaient très bon et très copieux, les chambres au top (avec moustiquaire évidemment).
Sans hésiter nous recommandons Cuyabeno lodge !

We had a fantastic 3 night/4 day stay at Cuyabeno lodge in May 2019 with our two boys (aged 8 and 11). The diversity of animal, insect, bird, and plant life we saw in the Cuyabeno reserve was incredible, from the thousands of leaf-cutter ants marching right behind our bungalow to the squirrel monkeys jumping across the river to the towering vine-laden trees along the river banks. Our 2-bunk bungalow was very basic and fairly open to the outdoors. Falling asleep and waking to the sounds of the jungle was part of what made the experience so memorable, expect to find a frog or two in your bathroom in the morning! Our guide and boat driver (Tamara and Fausto) were excellent, with hawk-eyes for spotting animals and birds. Their English was good, although limited, and it definitely helped knowing some Spanish to learn more in depth things about what we were seeing. It was fun sharing meals at the communal dining table with our group each day and swimming in the lagoon at sunset each day was a highlight. I would highly recommend Cuyabeno lodge, it isn't fancy but it is a hidden little gem in the Cuyabeno reserve!

We had an amazing stay in the Cuyabeno Lodge. The accommodation is basic but perfectly fine. You get to see lots of animals, not also in the nature but also in your room because they do not have windows or doors! The food during our stay was also very good and always enough!!
Our guide Fabrizio had lots of knowledge about the wildlife and found animals we couldn’t see even when we knew where they were! That is how a guide in the Amazon should be!
We totally recommend this lodge!

Well organised, comfortable lodgings, delicious food. The nature was amazing! Our guide Guido was organised, passionate and informative.

Tanto el lugar como el servicio recibido fue inmejorable. Tubimos la suerte de tener un guia nativo que además de explicarnos la fauna y flora del amazonas, nos conto cuentos y leyendas de la zona. Mágico, no tiene otra palabra

Libre de teléfonos, estrés y complicaciones de la vida citadina, lo que permite que todos quienes visitamos la reserva natura disfrutemos de hermosos paisajes, una flora y fauna sin igual, pulmón del mundo y verdadera naturaleza.

4 dagen Cuyabeno lodge. Het kost je wat tijd om er te komen. Wij vlogen vanuit Quito op Lage Agrio, daar stond een auto met chauffeur klaar om ons in 2.5 uur naar de rivier te rijden. Daar aangekomen kregen we een goede 3 gangen lunch aangeboden, om vervolgens met gemotoriseerde kano nog ruim 2.5 uur te varen. Er werd gestopt als er iets bijzonders te zien was, wij zagen ara’s, verschillende apen, waaronder de wolaap, ook zagen we coaties ( familie van de wasberen ) een luiaard en nog veel andere vogels. Aangekomen stond er een lekker fris drankje klaar. We hadden een vol programma. We zijn bij lokale mensen geweest en hebben daar een soort workshop gedaan hoe je de cassave wortel vanuit de grond bereid tot een soort pannenkoek. Ook hebben we gekanood. Verschillende wandelingen gemaakt en uitleg gekregen over de vele bomen en planten van onze zeer kundige gids Fabricio. Ook hebben we een avondsafari gedaan en daar mooie slangen en kaaimannen gezien. Het hoogtepunt was een wandeling waar we een 4.5 meter anaconda zagen van een meter afstand! Qua luxe moet je niet tè veel verwachten, wij hadden de uitkijktoren als slaapplaats. Maar qua jungle ervaring was het echt fantastisch!!

We really enjoyed our 3 nights in the lodge, Fabricio our guide was very interested in the flaura and fauna and had a perfect knowledge of all local animals. The Programm for the 3 days is pretty packed but it's no problem to skip one or two activities. If you only stay a small time the activities are very different and not repetitive. We can really recommend the lodge, also because it has the best location on the lagoon and all rooms, including dining room and hammock area are really nice. A bit more light in the rooms would be nice but we understand that it's not possible due to the location in the jungle. If you want to visit the cuyabena reserve, this lodge is a great choice.

Dass unser Aufenthalt in der Cuyabeno Loge die Bewertung "ausgezeichnet" erhält, ist zu einem grossen Teil unserem Guide Roberto zu verdanken. Seine Kompetenz, seine Begeisterung für Fauna und Flora des Regenwaldes, sein ständiges Bemühen uns den Aufenthalt in der Lodge so interessant als möglich zu gestalten, sein uneingeschränktes Eintreten für Nachhaltigkeit im Ecuador Tourismus, sein engagiertes Eintreten für den Erhalt des Regenwaldes und der lokalen Völker waren überaus beeindruckend. Darüberhinaus haben die Ausflüge mit Roberto, per Boot oder zu Fuss, ganz früh morgens oder in der Nacht auch viel Spaß gemacht.
Die Verpflegung in der Lodge hat uns sehr positiv überrascht: Es gab sehr vielfältiges und abwechslungsreiches Essen, alles immer ganz frisch und sehr geschmackvoll zubereitet.
Obwohl wir einen "Superior Room", hatten, hat es nicht immer warmes Wasser zum Duschen, die Sauberkeit im Zimmer war nicht ganz überzeugend.
Dennoch insgesamt eine großartige Lodge mit beeindruckenden Regenwald Erfahrungen.
Die Verpflegung in der Lodge hat uns sehr positiv überrascht: Es gab sehr vielfältiges und abwechslungsreiches Essen, alles immer ganz frisch und sehr geschmackvoll zubereitet.

This is a really difficult to write review. I try to start with what happend to us.
We booked our trip with Marco Polo Tours (NEVER DO THIS!!!!!!) and they promised us a lot, english speaking guide, welcome cocktail, good food, a lot of trips etc.
I don't want to write about all the single details that happend before we arrived to the lodge (it took twice a long, we had to get out of the bus without any information, we should walk to the lodge through the jungle on our own, we had to wait 4 hours .....).
Well, Marco Polo Tour told us that it will a take 2 hours ride through the jungle to arrive in our lodge but in real you just take a 5 min boat to arrive at the lodge.
Our guide was not able to speak english (expect of "bird", "monkey", "look look") and so we had 4 days with almost no information. Luckily there were two other poor people who booked the same and they are able to speak spanish, so that they could translate a few things for us (in general the guide didn't explain a lot even in spanish).
The meals were okay but it was never a lot. We were hungry the whole time.
The guide told our spanish friends, that the employees don't get their sallery so that we should always take our valuable stuff with us. After 2 days the cook quit because of having no money.
Our trip to the indigenious village (they promised us a trip to the SIONA people) was the most ridicolous thing i've ever seen. Instead of going to SIONA our guide took us to the village were he lives. Nobody was there expect of his wife (we had to wait 30 minutes in front of his house ......) and she prepared some Yuka bread for us. Okay, we had to prepare it but we also had to pay 5 dollars per person. After that we wanted to go with us to the "shaman" but unfortunetaly he was not as home because he took a ride with his bike.
On the third day 2 employees were that drunk that one of him felt straight on the ground with destroying bottles and glasses. His drunk friend wanted to bring him to a boat but he let him fall of the stairs. The guy felt down about 10 stairs and straight into the river. My friend and I had to pull him out of the water and into a boat. Blood was running out of his neck and face. Another guy jumpend into the boat and drive away with him.
The promised "night walk" was a 30 minutes hike at 18:30. We didn't see any animals expect of a tiny spider. Our guide explained (of course in spanish), that it is fullmoon and that there are no animals out here.
By the way: the guide told us to switch off the flash lights to hear the amazing sound of the jungle. What he heard were also the cars because we were still so close to the road.
Also on the river he didn't explain anything and we saw so many other boats with guides who saw dozens of animals.
All in all it was just horrible. We tried to do our best and we also laughed a lot. Also the tour to the Laguna Grande was very, very nice. But it was nice because of the nature and not because of the guide or anything else.
So I can only recommend you to avoid this!
