My husband, our son and I just returned from a 10-day trip to Lima, Ica and Cusco, Peru. It was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations. Everything was taken care of for us (transportation, accommodations, etc.). Jhorel was phenomenal. He made sure everything was planned to our satisfaction and addressed all our questions and concerns. He even provided his personal cell number so we could stay in touch while visiting Peru. Our tour guide, Renso, was exceptional. He was personable, patient, fun and knowledgeable. Our son had an upset stomach (probably due to the high altitude), and Renso seemed genuinely concerned for his well-being. He went out of his way to ensure our son was eating and staying hydrated. Machu Picchu was breathtaking. Renso shared his incredible knowledge of the culture, architecture and Incan way of life. He also took excellent photographs. Joel was an excellent driver. He was also courteous and professional.
Overall, we had a fantastic time and are so glad we chose Kaypi for our first Peruvian experience. Thank you for making our trip very memorable!

El viaje a Peru fue todo lo que esperaba y más. Me gusto much viajar con Kaypi Tours.

My favorite part was traveling by train from Cusco to Machu Picchu. I was captivated by the wide expanse of the mountains and general landscape. The food was excellent. Our guide was very caring, he see to it that we were on time for our tours and well hydrated. The whole experience was outstanding.

The 10 day tour to Peru was absolutely amazing. Upon arrival in Lima myself and my travel buddy met up with the other personnel in our group and we were transported to our hotel in Miraflores. Allpa Hotel &Suites met my expectations (the room was very clean and roomy enough for two). After a good night's sleep, we began our adventure with our tour guides Renso and Franco. We toured the city of Lima and visited the historic center of Lima, Huaca Pucllana and the San Francisco Monastery and Catacombs. We did a lot of walking and I was very grateful that the weather was comfortable. We ended the day with dinner where I ate a delicious alpaca meal. We then had time to venture out on our own.
Day 3: with backpacks packed for our overnight stay we were headed to Puno via air. Upon arrival in Puno, I immediately felt the change in elevation (shortness of breath and headachy) We checked into our hotel, ate lunch and the rest of the afternoon was ours to da as we wish.
Day4: we loaded up on a motor boat, met Roger our tour guide and started our 4hr trip to Uros Floating Island. What an experience!!! When I stepped off the boat unto the island I prayed that my foot would not go through the reeds and I end up drinking half of Lake Titicaca :) Cudos to the Uros people for maintaining their traditions. Next we travelled to Amantani Island where we met our designated family who we would spend the rest of the day and night with. After a delicious lunch provided by Orlando & Monica (Catarina & Jospeh - children) our hosts, the group took the trek to the Temples of the Pachamama and Pachatata and observed the sunset from the mountain top. I did not participate because i was struggling to catch my breath and my knees were on fire. As much cocoa leaves as I had in my cheeks, the elevation was trying to break me :(
Day 5: after breakfast, we hiked to our hosts garden plot and assisted with harvesting potato (Peru has over 300 different kinds and quinoa is also a big crop/staple). For lunch, all the host families and their guests met in one location and we ate lunch sitting on the ground and enjoying the sunshine and each other's company. Once lunch was over it was time to head back to Puno with a short stop at Taquile Island for shopping and an opportunity to try rainbow trout.
Day 6: Early morning bus trip to Cusco with stops at Pukara market, La Raya Pass, Raqchi Archeological Site and Andahuaylillas Church. Return to hotel
Day 7: Trip to Rainbow Mountain was canceled due to weather and we visited Chinchero Textile Center, the Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo and Salt Mines of Maras.
Day 8: With backpack packed for overnight stay in Aguas Clientes, we visited a Alpaca Farm Factory and then caught the train (2hr ride) to Machu Picchu.
Day 9: The big culmination of the trip - bus ride to Machu Picchu and 2hr walking tour of the site. At the starting point of our hike, a surprise engagement was done by a couple in our group. It was a very touching experience and she said yes. I have to give a big thank you to Franco for assisting me on the tour of Machu Picchu because my knees were screaming louder than a bull horn and even though I had been taking elevation sickness pills and also doing the cooa leaves, I was still feeling the effects of the elevation. I came, I saw and I conquered.
Day 10: Goodbye Peru, thanks for the experience
To the group members - it was a pleasure meeting each of you and thanks to everyone for looking out for each other. Looking forward to Egypt 2024
To Franco, your knowledge of and passion for your country were evident in your presentations. You are truly a professional at what you do and a valuable asset to Kaypi Peru Tours. Truly a pleasure having you as a tour guide.

My Husband and I (53 & 58 yrs old) traveled to Peru on May 24, 2023 for a 12 day trip with Kaypi Peru Tours. We had an AMAZING experience and were so pleased that we selected Kaypi. We almost canceled our trip because of the prior reports of Civil Unrest, but are so glad we did not. We did not experience any problems & felt safe throughout our entire trip.
Our tour included Lima, Cusco, Agua Calientes (Machu Picchu) & the Peruvian Amazon near Puerto Maldonado. Our Amazon stay was 3 nights at the Eco Amazonia Lodge... which we Absolutely Loved!
We were given different tour guides in each travel location, & were very pleased with each one. Each guide was kind, professional, & shared an abundance of information about each location.
Our tour guide in Lima was "Astrid", who took us on a city tour, as well as an additional day tour (approx.19 hrs) to see the Nazca Lines & Huacachina Sand Dunes. It was a very long day, but we really enjoyed the experience. It is a 7 hr drive each way from Lima to Nazca, so some people may not want to spend that much time in a vehicle.
Our tour guide at the Eco Amazonia Lodge was "David". He was with us for 3 days & did an amazing job to ensure our visit was special. He went out if his way to find mammals, birds, & reptiles for us. We could tell he loved being a guide & had a wealth of information about the jungle & its wildlife.
Our tour guide in Cusco/ Agua Calientes/ Machu Picchu was "Elias". We spent a lot of time with him over a 3 day period & he was an excellent guide as well. He provided a lot of educational information about the country & its history. He did his best to ensure everyone in our group had a great time. Elias also took us on a private day tour to Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain... which we loved as well. It was about 3 hrs of driving each way from Cusco to Palccoyo... but the scenery was beautiful! We took altitude sickness medication 2 days before going, so we did not get sick.
Our advice to other travelers is go "PREPARED" to the locations you choose... so you can have a wonderful trip! Do your research before the trip... know the anticipated weather, take appropriate clothing, bug spray, medications/shots recommended by CDC, & be aware of safety recommendations. Find out what the planned flight times are... sometimes it's worth paying extra money to avoid 4 - 8 hour flight layovers. If you go prepared... you can expect an amazing adventure in this beautiful country.

Wow!! Franco was an excellent guide. Not only was the trip absolutely amazing, but Franco's hospitality went beyond what was expected. He brought us amazing bread. The tour was well planned. There was the right amount of history and culture mixed in. They really were thoughtful in the selections of stops. All the guides were helpful and made sure we all had a good experience. The first couple of days they really checked on us to make sure we were feeling ok. Get the altitude sickness meds. They really help. They kept us well informed of each days events. The local stay on the island in lake Titicaca was one of the highlights - didn't know what to expect but Rosa and Wilbur were great hosts. Rosa is a fantastic cook. The climbs were challenging but doable. Take layers . . . Lots of them. You will have a blast with this group and Machu Picchu is worth it!

Peru had been on my bucket list for a while, and Kaypi Tours was the perfect opportunity to travel there. We did the 10-day tour, and it was unbelievable! First, I cannot give enough praise to our tour guides - Franco was a fountain of knowledge and so much fun to travel with. We learned all about the hidden gems of Peruvian history. The architecture of the pre-Incan, Incan, and Colonial period buildings was amazing. Beyond that, we discovered the nuances of Peruvian history, culture, and food (the food! Yum!). We experienced it all, and each day was filled with sights and loads of laughter and fun. I had an absolute blast and wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks to Franco and Kaypi Tours for an unforgettable vacation.

Well, I'll start of by saying that Kaypi's 10 Day Peru High Andes Tour was my favorite tour that I've been on.
It was well organized with stops In Lima, Puno City, The Floating Euros Islands and Amantani Island on Lake Titicaca,
Cusco and finally my favorite, Machu Picchu. Our main Guides, Franco and Renzo were the best with their impressive knowledge of the places we visited.
They and our tour group of new friends were fantastic to share our Peru adventure with. It was was like a family visit to my
relatives in Italy. The food was very good and quite affordable. Be aware though of the higher altitudes. We hiked a up a mountain on
Amantani island and breathing wasn't the easiest. The view at top made it all worth it with a sun-ray filled sunset that our guides
hadn't seen in the eleven years of taking groups up there. Excellent 5/5

I did a solo trip for 10 days to explore Peru with Kaypi Peru Tours, and I have to say it was my best trip thus far. The culture and experience of everything there was to see and do really went beyond my expectations. Our tour guides for most of the trip, Franco and Renso are 2 of the best and friendliest guides ever. Knowledgeable and always ready to answer any question while also being quick with a joke to keep you laughing. Ask Franco about the bread, he will totally get it and bring you a bread from his family's bakery that you will ask for more of. I highly recommend this company and these guides as a top notch tour, I would totally do it all over again!

We had one main guide (Franco) and one guide that led the Lake Titicaca part of the tour. We gave the lake guide $50 and Franco $100 USD. We also tipped our driver $50.
Use your judgment. All of our guides and drivers were amazing and deserved a generous tip. I gave what we could afford.

Does anyone have experience with booking the 7 day Peru tour with Kaypi directly? The Groupon is no longer available but they said they would still honor the price as it was on Groupon.
Does this seem safe? I always get a little weary of booking with companies that I'm not familiar with.

Did you have any difficulty getting travel information from Kaypi? We booked a groupon in June with them and I have to follow-up on a monthly basis. Our trip is for 3/31 and we are getting the run-around from them. First it was too soon to book anything, then it was we are confirming flights (in December), at the beginning of January it was we are working on hotels but are having problems because of the holiday (we are there over Easter), and most recently (beginning of Feb) it is back to working on flights and as of this week they just aren't responding to emails. I feel like we are going to get a raw deal because they've been dragging their feet and wanted ot know if anyone else had problems with booking. TYIA

The bus dropped us off near the gate, not a very far walk. But, there is quite a bit of walking once you get inside with lots of stairs. My 79 year old hsb has a knee problem but he did well with 2 walking sticks. I hope you get a chance to go, it is truly a magical place.
Has anyone gone on the 7 day tour that is purchased on Groupons

The Titicaca lake is one of our destinations not just because is the biggest lake in south america or because is the highest navigable in the world, we choose this destinations for 3 reasons more:
The Uros: pre-inca civilization tha live on totora reeds, the are still making all their life into the lake, they get teir food, materials to built thir houses, boats and everything from the lake
Amantani island, it is a natural island and we choose to spend the night here because the people who live here is the most kindest and because we know our traveler are looking for something else that just visit attractions.
Taquile Island: they are consider as the best weavers of Peru, and just have this tittle is a lot.
it is true that the lake is having problems but is not totally polluted as many people think, actually our govermment is working on protect, preserve and maintanin this incredible place, come and visit the lake, don't be afraid, I totally reccomend you.
