Completed the 4 day trek, though found it tough going and exhausted by the end.
My preparation wasn't good (had a few injuries during build up) that hampered it, though it would I think still been tough for me being honest.
The tour company and their brief, acclimatization ( 4 days in Cusco prior to start was good), and the Guides, Porters and support was great (Llama Travel and Condor Travel working together) and I'm in awe of these guys who run up and down here most weeks.
Loved Peru, people were friendly, helpful and hotels were good, extra tours of Lima, sacred Valley and local villages and historical sites were good, interesting, and Cusco was enjoyable and interesting.
Machu Picchu was the culmination of the 4 day trek, though being honest, the impact of the 4 days (tired/exhausted), did take the edge of what is a magnificent and wonderful historical and architectural monument to the Inca people. I was fortunate to have a 2nd day at Machu Picchu and an overnight stay in Aguas Calientes which helped, particularly after a good Massage from Jared at the Budha Spa, which really helped ease those aching muscles and the fatigue of the Trek (thank you Jared and the local business people who recommended him to me).
I hope some day to return to Machu Picchu and enjoy the area and sights more, though my days of trekking are now I have decided firmly behind me.
For anyone considering the Inca trail I would recommend it, though also include, prepare yourself with regular treks which include lots of steep hill climbs and descents, be part of an organised tour/ group, and allow plenty of time to acclimatise to the high altitude. Good luck.

Servicio increÃble el que brindan! Mi experiencia en PERU fue genial. Nuestro guÃa nos enseñó mucho durante el Camino Inca, de los Incas y de Machupicchu. Todo el servicio fue excelente, muy profesional y de calidad. Los portadores hacen un trabajo importante en el camino, la comida fue espectacular y abundante! ; Es un viaje que nunca olvidaremos. Gracias! Los voy recomendar en Ecuador!

It was my first time ever in Cuzco, I booked Inca Trail Experience because they're a Peruvian based company and after the very first contact with Merci I knew that I had to travel with them! I must say I could not be happier with my choice. It was a great experience, the tour was very private and I was treated with the highest respect and felt absolutely comfortable around the team. The guide was such a knowledgeable and fun person!,he fulfilled us with lots of information and historical context. It really made the trip special. Inca Trail Experience put together an amazing hike caring for small details with the best food and lovely porters.
