The collection of ancient textiles are covered here in detail, and taken from dozens of tribal regions of Peru. The amazing thing is there is also an gallery space and a courtyard where post-modern contemporary art highlighting Artists from the Lima region and they are exhibited throughout the year.

I can't believe that the hotel and taxi drivers didn't know where this was!
This was one of the main reasons I wanted to visit Lima and I was not disappionted.
The artifacts are well catalogued and there is information by each exhibit in English which has bveen acurately translated. The building is fairly new and located in a residential area. There are workshops around the building and a shop to purchase items.
For anyone who works with fabric or is a crafter this is a must on their itinerary. I came away inspired by what I saw with many ideas for future projects.
I think it's amazing the country cares so much about it's heritage in this way.

This museum in Miraflores is quite nice. All is on the second floor, and the textile displays are in English and Spanish. The last section on the collector has some marvelous pieces, but it is all in Spanish. Although well curated and a nice space, there was no special exhibit and we were left a bit saying, "IS that all there is?" In any case we learned a lot and it has beautiful stuff.

Amazing small museum right in the heart of Miraflores. Beautifully curated (though the galleries are a bit too dark), and information is usually given in three languages - Spanish, English, Japanese. Sensibly organized. To follow the galleries as organized is to obtain an education in the history of weaving. Wonderful pre-Columbian textile collection, though there are also some ceramics in many galleries. When we were there, a major exhibition had just closed, so a few galleries were completely empty .. but one may be confident another high quality temporary show is coming. No discount for seniors unless you are Peruvian but admission price is not high. Not air conditioned when we visited.

this is the most awful museum that ever been!!! this prived museum is expensive and have two categories to visit. the normal price and the full price. to be fair the collection is good, the problem is that the most interesting peaces(70%) are locked! available only paying 3times the general entrance. Honestly I would prefer to put only one price and to exhibit the full collection, I find RIDICULE the way that the hide the collection from the rest!
