We drove to the waterfall in our rental car. It takes 2 hours from Denarau but the time went quickly. You follow Google maps and you turn off the main road just at the village which takes you to the waterfall along a dirt /gravel windy road. You reach the community hall where the locals are waiting to take you to the waterfall. You can either walk (by yourself) or opt for a horse for $50FJD. It is well worth the horse ride as you don't have to go through the 7 creek crossings! Before you leave they will do a welcome ceremony in the hall and you MUST drink the Kava 🤮! The local home have all their wares out for you to buy. Whilst I like to support the locals , everything was more expensive than at port Denarau. There is a $25FJD entry fee also to the waterfall. You need cash for all these things. At the waterfall the guides ( who are carrying your bag whilst you ride the horse) will wait for you whilst you swim. It is incredible refreshing! They will also help you climb the rock wall and jump in if you are brave enough. Against my better judgement I let my 17 yo daughter do it but she survived unscathed! There is a tiny change room where you can get rid of your wet swimmers and ride back in comfort. A very worthwhile trip! On the way back we stopped at the Outrigger hotel 35 mins down the road. They have restaurants open all day so you sit looking at the beach and having a late lunch !

Went the falls and loved it! A short 30 minute walk there and then a nice refreshing dip. Well worth the visit. Fairly flat and easy terrain. You also have a choice of riding a horse to the falls.

My wife and I were staying in the Maui Bay area. We booked a local driver to take us up to the village. This was on a Sunday, so they did not have the normal Kava ceremony. We were greeted by a woman villager and her children. After a brief introduction, and an opportunity to use the restroom, we were assigned a 14-year-old boy named John who was the son of the woman who gave us the introduction.
The hike up to the waterfall was about 1.5 miles, and was a reasonably easy trip for two people 55. Once we got to the waterfall, there was a bathroom and changing rooms and some picnic tables. We did get into the water. Our guide John took pictures of us. We stayed at the waterfall for about 45 minutes and no one else was there. It was a great experience. On the way back, the trip was much quicker. We met John's father, older brother and sister on the way back who were leading other tours. The Fijian people are very friendly and we highly recommend that you go and do the visit. I would recommend not doing any tours, but hiring a local local driver..

The view of the waterfall is so spectacular. It’s worth the drive in, we had Muddy our driver take us in, we had Kava at the village and began walking into the forest to the waterfall. If you’re willing to get your wet to see the waterfall the walking track to it is an adventure itself! You can swim in waterfall and have lunch. Highly recommend for adventurous people!

We loved the Biausevu Waterfall. We went with Maggie’s Tours who were fantastic. We were welcomed into the village with a cava ceremony by the people of the Biausevu Village. We had a lovely guide named Lorraine who took us to the waterfall. It was relaxed 40 minute walk to the waterfall. It was so worth the walk. The walk to the the waterfall and the waterfall was beautiful. We enjoyed a refreshing swim in the waterfall. The Biausevu waterfall was well worth the visit

Drove ourselves up to the village, the road is t great but we got our 7 seater up it fine. No signage, just turn at the Airport (yeah) go on up to the village. Park in front of the community hall.
You’ll go inside, be offered Kava then told of the $25 pp fee and offered the local handicrafts, which like the same stuff offered everywhere so don’t think they’re made locally.
We then had two guides, young villagers who led us up and told us about the various bits along the way. You don’t really need a guide but it’s another way to bring some money into the village as you’re expected to tip them.
The walk is beautiful, a narrow cement path most of the way and you’ll need to wade through the creek several times. Once you get to the end, you can swim under the falls and then head back again.
One note to the village - clean up you rubbish. Plastic bottles and junk everywhere. Detracts from the overall beauty of the place.

The guide was a local young lady from the village, I think her name was Mela.
We arrived and were invited into the village hall for their welcome and kava ceremony (I’ve had a quite a bit now!) there was a lot of local giftware including jewellery and wooden craft to buy and each family trades individually so any monies go to that family. After using the facilities we then started the walk up to the waterfall, it was muggy and drizzling, plus the ground was wet in places, but substantial enough including a new path the locals put in in 2016. I wore sandals which aren’t supposed to go in the water but were the only footwear I had suitable as we were told some of the water crossings were shallow and some would reach calf height. Mela spoke to us about the village, trees and fauna and when they come up to the waterfall for bbq and gatherings . There are stopping places enroute to sit and get your breath if you need to, have a drink, snack etc. We arrived at the waterfall and the power of the water coming down hitting the pool took your breath away. It was a refreshing swim after the walk and a beautiful area. Some locals were off hunting and we spoke to them as they passed. We then went back to the village. A thoroughly enjoyable trip and highly recommend doing by oneself and not a tour operator. Just follow Google maps past the school up into the mountain and you’ll arrive. Don’t stop at the first lot of houses after the school keep going. Even the local bus makes it up there!

AMAZING! The road was not great, but when we got to the village, the people quickly got some guides for us and we were off on the jungle trail to the falls. We crossed through creeks 7 times (take your water shoes), and we prepared by using bug spray before we set out - smart move. There was a cement pathway, that helped keep us out of deep mud, and there were horses to hire to take the trip, if you prefer that. The hike was easily done by our whole family - ages 4 to 65, and the waterfall is magical! We were able to go in the pool, and my son even climbed up to dive into the pool. Everyone was very friendly. Be sure to be respectful of their cultural norms - do not wear shoes or your hat when you enter their community building to look at their items for sale after your hike, and consider buying from them, since much of what they have is available elsewhere, but the profits go directly to this village when you buy from them instead of to a company. I will go back when I visit Fiji again. It was that lovely!

The water was cold but so clean and walking over the river was amazing. Had the best day. The villagers who accompanied us were very thoughtful to our needs.

I have heard that you can either pay the village a fee or you take school supplies with you for the children. Is this an acceptable option here?

They do require a fee and that includes the guide to take you to the water fall, We also donated school supplies and toys for the children which they appreciated. It was roughly 15 AUD per person
