Taslihan are the remains of a caravanserai, or inn, that served as accommodation for travelers and caravans during the Ottoman period. There isn't much to see or read, but it still makes for a nice photo opportunity.

Caravanserai... From the words themselves it is clear that the name of the building comes from the Persian syntagm “karvānsarā”, which contains a caravan and a “sara” (that is, a building with a courtyard) and it was a public building for accommodating trade caravans and other travelers . Caravanserais (an analogue of Russian inns on trade routes) in the Middle Ages and even later were widespread throughout the Middle East, parts of Eastern Europe (particularly in the Balkans), North Africa and Central Asia.
On Sarajevo street Zelenih beretki, the history of which I told in my post about the Nativity of the Virgin Cathedral in Sarajevo, you can easily find one of the city's must-sees - the remains of the former caravanserai Taslihan or Tašli han, which in ancient times was located on the site of the current summer garden and the open bar of the Europe Hotel. Alas, what we can see now are just the pitiful remains of the third stone caravanserai in Sarajevo, which was built in 1540-1543 as a donation by Gazi Husrev Bey after his death.
Studies carried out in our time suggest that it was square in shape with each wall 47 meters long. He had a fountain in his courtyard, as well as a small mosque. At the top of the walls there were places for traders and travel lovers to live (something similar to today's hotel rooms). Also, local and foreign merchants had their own shops in Tashlikhan. But, unlike classical caravanserais, Taslihan, according to a number of researchers, served more likely for trade than as an inn for caravans.
Alas, the fire of 1879 damaged Tashlikhan and put an end to its functioning - everything burned to such an extent that the caravanserai could no longer be used for its intended purpose. And so it was for more than a century - until 1998: then, as part of the project for the restoration, reconstruction and expansion of the Hotel Europe, archaeological excavations were carried out in the summer garden of the hotel, as a result of which part of the foundations and massive walls of the structure were unexpectedly discovered.
After this, the remains were declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina and now delight the eyes of travel lovers with their ancient lifeless stone appearance. When looking at the gloomy remains of Karavansaraj Tashlikhan, the lines of Natasha Murzina automatically came to mind:
“Every caravan owns a barn.
We receive guests there in the morning.
Love, and friendship, and heartbreaks -
Caravans come from everywhere..."
Do not miss!!!

Tasli Han was built during the Ottoman Empire in the mid-16th century by Gazi Husrev Beg. Built of stone, it was one of the largest caravanserais in the region. Bezistan was built adjacent to the Tasli Han, which still exists today, while the Tasli Han burned down at the end of the 19th century and, being unusable, was demolished. Currently you can see the foundations and little of the structure but it is worth a look for the history.

The TasliHan is the ruins of an old Ottoman caravanserai, where caravans could stop for food and shelter. It's located near the Bezistan market. There isn't really much to see here now - we were walking past so stopped to take a few photos, and it's fairly central located in Old Town Sarajevo, so you may see it, but it's probably not worth making a special trip.

The Tašlihan is the summer garden of Sarajevo’s Europe Hotel and partly the remains of an inn that served travellers and caravans during the ottoman period. To be honest, there's not a whole lot to see. Only the walls and foundations remain of the original inn. Tašlihan is in the Baščaršija and old bazaar area, so that was the only reason we took a look. The gardens are nice, but again I wouldn't go out of the way to see this.

Tašlihan was one of three caravanserais in Sarajevo (along with Morića Han and Kolobara Han) which served both travelers and horses. This is the remains of the fort structure and its nice to see that it is being preserved. Its around the Ferhadija mosque area. Well worth seeing. It was just a shame it was partially covered by snow when I was there.

The Taslihan was originally built in 1543 by craftsmen from Dubrovnik. On the ground floor there were stables for up to 70 horses. During its history the structure had caught fire a number of times, the last being in 1879. Remnants of the building were finally removed in 1912, thus leaving what can be seen today.

Unlucky that the post itself is pretty much left in ruins. What's there to mark it is really just a sign explaining some brief background on what it used to be.
Some nice developments happening around it though, the area is a clash between old and new Sarajevo.

Although it was not really clear what it was, it is pretty cool to have ruins in the middle of the city. Very nice to bump into on a day hike in the city.

Beautiful spot in the old town. They have done a nice preservation work around it. Nearby, plenty of cafes and restaurants.
