This is the biggest Art Museum in Bucharest. It has the most impressive collections of art in the city. It s a point of reference for tourists who visit Bucharest.

This beautiful building is located in the heart of Bucharest opposite Revolution Square. During walking tour our guide brought us here. Unfortunately we could not go inside as it was closed being Sunday. Our guide informed us that it was destroyed during 1989 revolution. It reopened in 2005 after renovation There are a lot of old paintings by famous artists displayed.

According to the website of the museum and of the website for tourism the official opening time is till 6 p.m. but people who work there say that they sell the last ticket (it was what the lady on the ticket office said) till 5p.m., which is really strange... I hour before? It is too early... The security man and another lady who also work there just laughed about me trying to buy the ticket. It is normal for museums to sell the last tickets some time before the closing time... But 1 hour? I had the impression that the people who work there do so because they want to go early home... That,s why they say that they sell the last ticket at 5 p.m.
So, if you plan to visit this museum, make sure you arrive there minimum 2 hours before the official closing time. The museum is not crownded, very few people there, no reason for this behavior to visitors...

Trust me, this is one of the greatest art museums you could visit! All though the National Galleries do not compare in size to the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Louvre what is inside is a real gem.
We had a great time visiting the European Art gallery and the temporary art exhibitions. You won’t regret visiting this place!

We only visited the part of the royal palace and you can do the visit completely independently. The interior is a wonder to behold. The only flaw is that the building is not furnished.

A large and well spaced museum collection, across several floors and galleries. All of it is focused on Romanian history and artists. On the lower floors there's of (rescued) icons from destroyed churches, whilst the upper floors contain galleries of more recent Romanian artists through 17th to 20th centuries. There's a lot of stuff to look at and you could spend several hours here. There's a permanent exhibition and several special shows (extra charges apply).

Confusing ticketing, think we bought for 3 different museums but decided to give Decorative Arts a miss.
The Romanian Gallery was interesting, with some great individual pieces but the European Art Gallery was largely a disappointment, with few standouts.
By chance there were loads of paintings of places we’d visited in France.

The first off, I want to give you a warning. At this location is actually for museums each requiring separate tickets to enter. If you’re smart or know about it, I would suggest buying the master ticket at 40 lira to get access to 3 out of the 4 museums. The fourth museum is a temporary exhibition, and you have to pay for one separate regardless. Now I found the collection to be average. They had some really good paintings and some that I wouldn’t put in a museum they had sub sculptures. They also had some beautiful furniture as well as church displays, one of the negative thoughts I had any of the museums is the security people in the museums are constantly following you everywhere you go. I’m surprised he didn’t go to the washroom with me either they’re extremely bored or they don’t trust anybody who comes into the museum and don’t worry if you make a wrong turn very quick to point it out. All in all the staff seem rude and not wanting to do a good job.

As far as I know there are several renting centers in Bucharest. The renting service is available starting spring season (1st of April usually). I could also suggest "I'Velo" .There are three rental centers in Bucharest, near the green areas (Parks) of the city : Herastrau Park - entrance Charles de Gaulle, the Arc de Triumph and Tineretului Park, entrance George Sincai.
The bikes can be rented daily, between 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (last rental at 18: 00) and between the hours 10:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (the last rent at 18.00). I'Velo bikes can be rented, both for a fee, and free. Young people under 16 y.o and retired people can rent bicycles for free, based on student booklet, respectively pension bead. The others have to pay 4 lei (less than 2 $) to rent a bike for an hour and 15 lei ( less about 4$) for 24 hours ( according to the last year rates).
Unfortunately lanes for cyclists are quite a few but you are welcome to discover places in Bucharest whatever transportation means you'll use.
