Oases of tranquility

Situated 12km from city's centre ,monastery Rakovica is most significant Orthodox monastery in Serbia, specifically today because here in 2009 the man known by many people as a living saint ,Patriarch Pavle ,was buried.
Monastery was built in 14th century with financial help of Prince
Mihailo Obrenovic ,and preserves one of the most valuable collections of the Serbian icons .
Also Princess Ljubica his wife ,helped build the monastery ,so even today the monastery preserves her memory through so called Ljubicin konak._Ljubica,s residence.
The surroundings is gorgeous, peaceful and quite ,just a few
kilometers from busy city which gives you spiritual milieu .
You can take the bus,or tram from centre of Belgrade.
Must see event.

Monastery Rakovica is the monastery of the Serbian Orthodox Church, within the Belgrade-Karlovac Archbishopric, located in Belgrade suburb of Rakovica. It is dedicated to the archangels Мihailo and Gavrilo.
His Holiness Serbian Patriach Pavle is buried in Monastery Rakovica.
The monastery is blessed with The Relics of Saint Nektarios of Aegina, The Wonderworker, Patron of Cancer Sufferers. Bottles of Saint Nektarios oil are also available in this monastery.
People come to this monastery to pray for healing from incurable sicknesses and mostly cancer. Every Sunday, after Holy Liturgy, priest reads akathist and prayers to Saint Nektarios. At that time, The Relics of Saint Nektarios are exposed to believers who express their respect.
Next to the monastery is little chapel dedicated to Saint Parascheva, sveta Petka. Water from that chapel is famous for its healing power. It is recommended to drink this water as well as washing face and hands.
Sisters take care of this monastery. It is possible to stay in the monastery for several days for payers, spiritual development and healing but it has to be arranged with Sisters in advance.
