Amazing experience. We visited all the historical places places of Belgrade. The old and abandoned Sinagogue and the new one. The holocaust museum is very touching. Lots of tourists from everywhere. A must to learn from the past.

This is quite a small museum, located on a upper floor in a very old building on Kralja Petra Street, very close to Kalemegdan Park. It’s exact location is clearly marked on most tourist maps of Belgrade.

As might be expected, security is tight. You should probably bring your passport along with you as proof of identity. Admission is free.

The layout of this little museum is absolutely superb! All the exhibits are clearly labelled in both Serbian and English and follow the guide booklet exactly!

It was my lucky day to have met the director of this museum when I was there. I learned more about Jewish history from this lady in half an hour than I could have learned in a semester-long history course at a university!

This is really one of the best - and most educational - museums I’ve visited anywhere in the world!

Although centrally located (on Kralja Petra street, not very far from Knez Mihailova street), it was not easy for me to find it, as there was no sign outside, and the building looked like an ordinary one. No fee charged, but for security reasons, one is required to present the passport before being admitted to the museum.
Visitors can go upstairs to the museum hall, on foot or using an antique elevator.

The museum , a reminder of jewish life history in Serbia, looks very neatly organized. It's a well arranged display of photos, objects, exhibits. A significant part is dedicated to Holocaust exhibits, and to artefacts of jewish daily life.
There are booklets with explanations in english and german as the captions of the exhibits are mostly in serbian. The staff is helpful and willing to assist the visitor with any information.

We were looking forward to visiting the museum so we double checked the Friday opening times and went over two and a half hours before they closed in the afternoon . However, via the intercom system, we were firstly told that it was shabbat and they were closed and then, after we informed the voice on the other end that we were fully aware of the shabbat times, we were then told a different story that there was 'nobody here' so no access. Oh well, maybe next time.
