The sea boulevard reserved only for walking rises slowly on the way to Babin Kuk with the secluded luxury hotels. On the way it offers excellent private swimming opportunities with secured stairs going down to the water and benches to lay on.

The promenade is great, but if you fancy a really memorable walk, add it to the footpath that runs around the Northern Headland. Starting at the beginning of Ivan’s Zajca road, by Orsan yacht club, you follow the road slightly North for a few hundred metres. From about that point there is a marked footpath that goes behind the beaches and in front of the Valamar hotel complex. Great views and some small beaches. The footpath ends in the car park in front of the Royal Blue hotel. Then follow the coast road for a few 100 metres and just beyond the Ariston is a sign to “Promenade”. Down some steps and you then walk along the lovely promenade with flowers on one side and the Adriatic on the other. This goes to the beach by the Kompass hotel. You can then follow the beach around the bay until just after the Splendid hotel and climb about 80-100 steps to the coastal road “Masarykov Put”. This terminates at the Dubrovnik Palace. Just beyond the entrance and before the tennis court a path leads up into the woods. It’s a little uphill initially but then flattens and offers some great views of the bay. It’s a lovely peaceful woodland walk. Eventually the path drops into central Lapad. It’s about 6 miles, fairly easy hiking. Lots of places to stop for drinks along the way.

A very beautiful promenade, which runs along the rocky shore of the bay. From place to place there are stairs that go down to the sea, for those who want to swim. There are also several hotels, restaurants and private houses. Crowded, especially in the evening.

Leading from Lapad beach to the luxury hotels in Babin Kuk the walkway offers outstanding views over the bay and benches to sit on admiring it. There are nice small swimming spots reached by steep stairs all along the journey. Down by the water are often yet metallic stairs leading safely to the water. These places are so intimate that you can leave your belongings by the rocks while swimming.

The recently renovated pedestrian seaside promenade runs high above the sea offering exquisite views over Lapad. It leads to the peak of the peninsula with the new luxury hotels from where you can return by bus to city center. There are some expensive restaurants on the way but no small, cozy cafeterias or even ice cream stands. Several steep stairs descend to the rocks below offering good swimming if the waves ar not too high.

This is how to walk the entire coastal path around Babin Kuk, starting at Sunset Beach and finishing at the Yacht Club on the East side of Lapad.
From the North side of Sunset Beach behind the Sunset beach bar, head up the Šetalište Nika i Meda Pucića which is the coastal path up to the Royal Hotel towards the end of the headland. The walk is fairly flat along here, fine for pushchairs etc. There are lots of shady locations to swim from along this route (accessed by steep steps from the path) with fixed ladders into the sea.
In order to complete the Babin Kuk circuit, it is necessary to leave the coast path just after the Levanat restaurant (if you continue on you will end up at the rear of the President Hotel with no access back to the path without going through the hotel building itself).
So go past the Levanat restaurant and up the steps at the side of the restaurant building, which take you up to the road. Turn left down the road, and turn second left (down Ul. Iva Dulčića). Follow this road for 200m, past the front of the President hotel. You can then rejoin the coastal path at the far end of the President Hotel. (Look for it on your left at the point where the road you are on (Ul. Iva Dulčića) bears sharply right and up the hill to the Argosy hotel).
Follow the path past Cava Beach, Coral Beach Club and Copacabana Beach.
Just beyond Copacabana Beach you will pick up the Setnica Walking Trail path (signposted as a fork left off the small road you are now on).
Then after Mandrač Beach where there are moored boats, you need to fork left on the path off the small road you are now on (just before the road climbs steeply up to the right). Basically just stay close to the coastline. Stay on the path past all the little jetties, eventually the path turns into a small lane, just follow straight on for 250m before you eventually come out at the Yacht Club.
