I wish I could give this place a 0 rating for the way we were treated. We paid 5 Euro to just go within the store. If you want to watch a video about the Bosnian War, that was 10 Euro. First of all, the "exhibit" is basically a shop selling various Bosnian souvenirs and coffee sets and within the store, you'll come across some photos of the Bosnian War. The photos are encased in cheap, plastic cases so there's always some kind of glare to them. There are no captions on the photos explaining anything. As my friend snapped a picture of the former Yugoslavia map that was within the store, a big, tall man who worked at the store started harassing us and demanded us to pay for taking a picture even though we had already paid the fee to enter. He kept on trying to intimidate us and blocked us from leaving the store until one of the store attendants confirmed that we had paid. As soon as we saw an opening to leave, we ran out of there. It was the most frustrating and scary situations I’ve been in. Please do not go here. If you want to learn more about the Bosnian War, I suggest doing a half day tour in Sarajevo, where you will get a much better understanding of the war.

Entering, you are presented with a seven minute video of the destruction of the Stari Most. This is followed by a very detailed and impassioned speech from the young lady. There is an extensive library, cabinets of Turkish coffee sets , many photos on the wall as well as trinkets and souvenirs.
What makes this store/exhibition so special is the staff. They are beautiful humans and so passionate about what they do and the message they are trying to tell.

An outstanding exhibition of
recent war photos by brave and talented international photographers.
The first part of the exhibit is of the Ukrainian war by Amnon Gutman. The principal exhibit is The End Of Yugoslavia and the wars that resulted from that. It is factual and moving.

Moving, powerful and informative. A great way to get a historical and emotional snapshot of the war in Mostar from the perspective of a New Zealand photo-journalist who was living there at the time. Haunting to put the pictures in perspective, as many of the streets and buildings pictured will be familiar to you if you have spent the day wondering in Mostar. Cheap and takes 20-40 mins - leave a donation - they deserve it.

Just before the famous bridge near the entrance to the Old Town stands this remarkable exhibition. The pictures are all in monochrome which somehow adds to the impact. They depict the war in all of its beauty and ugliness - there is of course nothing about any war that can be considered as beautiful, yet these pictures somehow are, for they show a resilience and strength of spirit which at the same time brings into stark focus the reality of just how destructive war is - to all those who are forced to live through or otherwise come into contact with it. I am not sure if beauty is really the right word to use - artistic perhaps, it is hard somehow to find the words. What nakes this exhibition different to others (and I have seen a few in other Balkan and Eastern European countries) is that this depicts everyday life and not just the actual destruction. In many ways this is the same thing anyway, as of course life does go in even in war zones, and it is these every day lives and the ability of the people who live in these areas that is most affected - and indeed that must and still hasn't been really rebuilt afterwards. More than anythng this is what this exhibition shows.

What the residents of Mostar went through is hard to imagine & these black & white images only portray a 'snapshot in time' of the Homelands War.
Later, when in Zagreb, we joined "The Homelands War Tour" & found out a whole lot more detail & insight about this tragic era.
No clear answers as to cause, & those we spoke to seemed fairly even handed in commenting on the issues ... most still scratching their heads.
OUTSIDE you certainly do not need to look very far to see the scars that are only too evident ... they seem to be much more poignant than the photos.
Even now 25 years on, people are still suffering.
There seems to be a desire to move on, but that often translates to 'move out'.
Best snapshot is talking to the residents & buying what is offered. Its a hard life.
The kids begging tug at your heartstrings.

Right at the beginning of Stari Most, the bastion hosts the War Photo Museum. The Museum presents photos on the war, with short descriptions of the happenings.

While moving upwards, you can see photos. At each and every level, the exhibitions continues. You can also have a sneak peak on the city from the bastion.

The photos are in black and white, showing the experiences in a warzone, namely the eastern part of Mostar. Taken at a time where that part of town was under siege from Croatian forces in the western part of town and serbian forces in the hinterland, it is a gripping documentation on the horrors of war. Very informative, well displayed, very good.
