This is a hidden gem within Dubai. We were not sure what to expect, but 3+ hours and 20+ buildings later we came out with a much better understanding of the city and the immense history of it and interactions as a hub to other countries. It is an unconventional layout going from building to building and some of the displays were a little repetitive, but overall it was very informative and had some great photos and insight to Old Dubai. Great thought and lots of tech went into this museum. There were many staff on site and all were very friendly and knowledgeable. A great way to pass and afternoon or evening out.

Children Pavillion, great expirience for kids provided with staff delightful guided tours, exercising great patience towards kids in offering training class on drawing, paper crafts etc. Both of my grandkids enjoyed a lot. Thanks to their mentor Ayesha especially for her Co.munication skills on understanding every child talent with short talk and offering them a suitable short training accordingly.

The other day I have been to the Al Shindagha museum, and I really love the experience. Al Shindagha museum is actually a group of house, each represents a different subject, including Arabic Perfume, Poetry, Tradition Life on Lands/Coastal and so much more. Each house is well designed and full of interactivity, so it is a good choice for family and those who want to learn different aspect of Emirate culture. The staff at the museum are very helpful, some of the house staff will introduce you in detail about the subject of the house, and they are really friendly. It will probably take 3 to 4 hours if you want to go through most of the houses, it will be a excellent experience and remember to take some water with you.

This is always my go-to place when vI want to explore the roots of Dubai's growth and its traditions. It's a mesmerising place to visit with each pavilion focusing on a different segment of Dubai's heritage. One of my favourites is the perfume museum and culture of the sea pavilion. A must-visit!!

I'll echo the review of Buffy252008 - this is a great museum, but it needs a lot of help in making it tourist-friendly.
It is not promoted very much on most of the tourist websites, or if it is promoted it does not give a very good explanation of what it actually is. The only reason I went is because some of the written tourist guides speak of it highly, and they are right. It is a massive and very interesting museum, in about 20 separate restored historical buildings. The topics that were covered in the buildings I visited were very well-presented, for example, Arabic poetry, the historical development of Dubai, architecture in Dubai, the role of perfume in Arabic culture, etc. However, I finally gave up on the rest because it was difficult to find where the entrances were.
I was the only visitor in most of the buildings during much of the visit. That does not reflect the quality of the museum; it reflects the lack of promotion, and the difficulty in getting information on it.
The guides at the various venues were uniformly excellent. At times, though, I would have preferred to simply wander around on my own, as many of the exhibits are self-expanatory. That never happened, probably because the guides have been told that it is part of their job to show the tourists around - and when there is only one tourist, you get a personal guided tour whether you want it or not.
Note that they are no longer printing paper tickets, so you need a cell phone to store your ticket. Since you need to show your ticket at the entrance to each building, this is a necessity to visit the museum. As Buffy252008 noted, not all the component buildings sell tickets. I bought mine at the Perfume museum, which is right on the waterfront not too far away from the Al Ghubaiba Metro station.

If you want to see and know more about old Dubai, visit the Al Fahidi neighborhood. What I liked the most was its museum, which features a combination of history, tradition, and modernity.

I enjoyed the camp activities especially the one where we opened the pearls and I liked the part where we learned about the history of uae currency and trade, that was really interesting.
They were paying good attention and checking on everyone. They were very helpful and made sure to explain until we understood.
