This is not a zoo in its purest form, although there are many animals. There are about 15 tigers alone. The animals are well-groomed. Admission is free for those over 65 and for children under 120 cm. Therefore, on a weekday there were mainly grandparents and grandchildren and it was not crowded.

长春动植物园挺好，动物很多，尤其是儿童动物区，有的可以喂食，小动物都很可爱，很聪明，还有些大型动物，我比较喜欢棕熊，虽然离得很远，摸不着，但是可以给它扔苹果吃，它们很爱吃，有时会站起来看你，暖心，我隔一段时间，就会去看它们，很有意思！

This zoo has a pretty good collection of animals and could provide for a nice day out. Some exhibits could be better quality to make the animals more confirmable and it wold be nice of people did not throw things at the animals like water bottles.

猛獣エリアは改装中だったが、歩けるなら、中央の小高い展望台から街が一望出来る。広い自然公園で￥450だから散歩だけでも。

Зоопарк нам потравился. Панд правда не нашли, но остальные животные просто чудесные. В зоопарке можно провести часа 3.

The zoo is a ways outside of most tourist attractions, but it's worth the taxi fair. It has huge grounds with dozens of different kinds of animals, fountains, sculptures and more. At least one of the staff members at all counters speaks enough English that you do not need to be able to speak Chinese. There are several, what appear to be forests, with wooden walkways, rest stops and enclosures. The pandas have their own enclosure. There are several free shows every day. You can pay to be brought right into the bear and tiger enclosures in a bus. And you can pay for horse rides before the show. There are drink and food stations spaced throughout the zoo. However they are spaced far apart, bringing a water bottle would be wise. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful.

The zoo was a fair price at 30 RMB to enter. My 4 year old son got in free.
Most animal enclosures were nice. Some enclosures were poor for some of the larger animals. I did like the cracked plexiglass in the tiger observation area. I thought it was a cool effect if you noticed it while tigers were near it.
My biggest complaint was construction/lack of animals. At least 1/3 of the park was not operational. It wouldn't be that bad if part of the park was closed for construction, but the construction was everywhere. I don't think there was one area of the park that didn't have heavy construction vehicles present and actively working. You would think construction would be done in early spring/late fall not in June.
It was odd seeing Chinese people feeding animals and throwing trash at them as well. There were signs with fines for feeding, but no enforcement.
The zoo would probably get a 4 star rating if there wasn't construction and if most areas were stocked with animals.

Die Tiere waren, obwohl es an dem Tag sehr warm war fast alle noch in den Ställen. Die Ställe sind viel zu klein und die Tiere sahen oft krank aus. Wir waren schon in mehreren Zoos in China und sind uns bewusst, dass man die Tierhaltung mit der in Europa nicht vergleichen kann. Allerdings wurden wir hier sehr enttäuscht.
Wer trotzdem einen Zoobesuch in Changchun machen möchte, sollte lieber in den Tigerpark fahren. Der ist mit der Lightrail gut zu erreichen und deutlich schöner und tierfreundlicher ist, wenn auch sicherlich nicht perfekt.

At 30 yuan to get in, it is affordable and easy to navigate if you don't speak Chinese. There is no food of substance available inside, just vending stands with warm soda and junk food priced double of what you'd expect to pay in a store. The grounds are nicely kept and there is no shortage of beauty. There is a theme park that cost extra (between 3-6 yuan per ride). It looks as well maintained as any travelling carnival I'd see back home in North America. A fraction of the enclosures were empty. Perhaps 1/5. Some of the animals had really nice green enclosures with space and entertainment, while others were in almost heartbreaking squalor. The polar bear, the seals, rhino and the chimps in particular were in plain concrete surrounds that were much too small, very dirty water, and no entertainment whatsoever. Some were encased on all sides in glass with no air conditioning or significant ventilation. The polar bear had sores all over his head. Most of the animals seemed happy and healthy, but there were a few obviously quite neglected. People were throwing trash at the monkeys and the staff wasn't doing much about it. There were lots of toilets and they were decent squatters compared to some I have seen here. They had stall doors. Despite toilets being everywhere, don't be surprised to see Chinese parents pulling down their kids pants pretty much anywhere and letting them go. We saw it twice right on the walkways with no effort to shield them...I am told this is cultural. Overall, it is a relatively okay place to take your kids. My son didn't really pick up on the poorer kept animals, perhaps I am more sensitive. By all means, definitely a nice afternoon if you aren't overly sensitive about the animal quality of life.

Only Red Panda available and it's different that the white one. For the same reason I wanted to visit the zoo. Even if it's no Panda you won't be disappointed.
