I did the Jufeng loop on a sunny Monday and was rewarded with panoramic views and no crowds at all. Almost had the entire mountain to myself. How to get there: Left the hotel at 8 a.m. by Didi (90 RMB) arrived at ticket center at 9. Bought tickets and mention "Jufeng" to get the right ticket (there are multiple scenic areas). Then you bord a bus for about 20 min to the cable car station. Then buy another ticket (I did) to take cable car up. I did the loop counterclockwise and was done by 1 p.m. Took cable car down (need to purchase another ticket) and bus back to ticket center. All in all very convenient and easy to self-organize. Hike is a lot of steps up and down on this circular loop. Great way to spend a day outdoors!

I was there on my own without any guided tour and it was an exploration and perhaps will visit again next time if I am still fit. I took a bus to the tourist office and brought a bus ticket and there are 2 different route or tour bus you can take, all in Mandarin so was a small struggle. Took TaiShan option and the bus ride to the main station was beautiful & scenic. CNY 100 did not include the 2 ways cable car but was told it was included, very misleading. If you decide to trek down, it will take about 3 hours. The cable card ride cost extra 45 each way.
Best to consider to stay 1-2 nights at this area to enjoy seafood and explore the area leisurely. It seems there is a restriction for cars to enter this district in Qingtao

This was an incredible experience. If you have 5 hours in Qingdao and want the best bang for your buck, definitely head to Laoshan. Read the other reviews to find out why you should go. Read this review if you’ve decided to go and are planning your trip.
Here are some warnings:
* This hike is not a hike. It’s a CLIMB. You will be going up and down stairs for two hours. And not indoor stairs. The stairs are slanted, broken, narrow, often crowded, and sometimes icy.
* Check the weather. It’s cold up there. Wind chill is not your friend. The hike will warm you up, but even then your fingers will be icicles. I recommend bringing a jacket that lets you slip your hands in the sleeves, if not gloves.
* If you can’t arrive at the shuttle station ( / ticket booth / tourist info office) by 1pm, go do something else. It will be (with NO lines, taking the cable car) an hour before you get to the top of the mountain. The cable car closes at 4:30, and the last shuttle leaves at 5. You probably COULD do it in two hours, but you’ll want to take a million pictures, read the signs, and enjoy the scenery.
* Before you buy your shuttle ticket, make sure the cable car is working. The shuttle ticket salesperson can tell you this.
* You will probably need your passport to get a shuttle ticket. I didn’t see that in any other reviews, and felt lucky I had it on me.
Suggestions:
* For your first visit, do Jufeng. Trust me.
* Don’t miss Xiantian bridge. The map is a little unclear, but that’s how you get to Zhaixing Pavillion, which was my favorite part of the journey. It’s definitely worth the extra steps (if you’re not running late).
* From the cable car, you’ll walk up to Zhuque Stone. You’ll be a bit exhausted and you’ll face a difficult decision. Clockwise or counter-clockwise? If you plan on doing the whole thing, go clockwise. It’s (slightly) more gradual at the beginning, but still a challenge.
* Dress for success. Wear shoes with good tread and layers for heat adjustments.
* There are two places to buy water on the loop.
* The signs say “toilet.” There are no “toilets” on the mountain. Ladies, you’ve been warned. There is also no running water, so bring hand wipes or hand sanitizer.
If this sounds like gloom and doom, I apologize. It’s an incredible hike, but I’m hoping at least one person can learn from my mistakes. 🙃

The drive from the city to laoshan is an hour and the drive up the mountain is longer than that due to the weekend traffic jam. Not worth it for what you see - construction everywhere, dirty beach, crowds. If you must come, avoid the weekend

最好上午来，可以全面地游览一番，我三点才到，没有缆车了，脚力不够只好在太清宫附近看看。里面道观很多值得多逛一会，风景也很好。

We enjoyed our day at Laoshan but wish the weather was better. We hit a hazy day when we went so the views went in and out. Once at the top you can see most peaks but you might not get the coastal views you are hoping for due to haze and fog some days.
For us we started with Yangkou and hiked up and down in two hours and offered great ocean views and some very claustrophobic inducing walkways (including Mitian Cave). After this we went to Taiqing to take the cable car up (it was open in March 2021) and hiked down which took 2.5 hours. Taiqing had more Taoist areas including a couple of temples, tea gardens and a very uneven walking path. We enjoyed Yangkou more as it had better views in our opinion.
After we finished at Taiqing we realized that there is a bus system that goes throughout the Laoshan Scenic area that is included in the ticket price of 120 RMB. 120 RMB covers entrance at all gates for two days but the cable cars are extra. Taiqing cable car is 45 RMB one way and the rest are 40 RMB one way. Laoshan cola is available in this area but many of the shops were not well stocked when we were here in March. We found the food was not overly appealing so we would recommend you bring your own. Drinks were also double the price in this area.
We would recommend starting at the Laoshan Mountain Tourist Center (Laoshan Scenic Area - Tourist Services Center in Didi). The weather can change quite frequently in the area - we experienced warm weather in Yangkou but got a blast of cold mountain air in Taiqing. We would recommend layers and a good pair of shoes. We went in spring but my wife was constantly bundling up and adjusting layers.
We wish that better information was available online before we arrived in Qingdao so we hope the map we picked up helps you plan your trip! We felt like we missed out on Yufeng and will be back one day as that is where that one really good looking bridge is that we have seen in so many pictures of Laoshan.

坐在我国漫长海岸线唯一一座超过千米山峰之巅花岗岩上，远眺美丽海湾。海天一色蔚为壮观，海边的山顶浮着青烟，平添一丝仙气，陆上隐约见到繁华的青岛市区，人间的烟火又近在咫尺。绿植、黄岩、天青色海与天，三色构成和谐之美。沐浴在暖洋洋阳光中，吹拂着柔和清风，就在这里什么都不想呆一会儿吧，非常惬意的事情。用心去感受感恩自然，享受生命穿梭时间产生细微触动。这里是冰川活动后留下遗迹，由于现在还是疫情期间，因此免了门票，只有¥60的景区观光车费还是非常划算。是一个值得去的地方，因此打算明天再去另外一条线沿着海边走的，今天走的是巨峰线

比较平淡的风光，之所以两星，是景区定价问题，号称免费，又强制绑定穿梭巴士60元（此穿梭巴士并非整个崂山景区的巴士，只是去附近的一个寺庙），让人很困惑，不知道该买票还是不该买票。

We did not expect much when we started our self-organized tour to the Laoshan mountains. Nevertheless, we were pleasantly surprised by the scenic spots, nature and beautiful views. Overall - the area is quite well maintained. At one spot, one can take a cable car to get uphill - which we did. Early July 2020 there were not many tourists there, so the area wasn't very crowded. It's also worth to stroll through the tea gardens. The beaches are nothing special if you have been at other places in Asia or at Sanya. We paid 1200 CNY for the hire of a 7-seater van including driver and guide fee - in total the tour took us about 8 hours.

崂山第一次来正赶上雨季，北九水的潮音瀑太美了，听说最近青岛是多雨的季节，当地人都说难得遇到这么美的瀑布，我们是幸运星，哈哈

How much time should be set aside to explore Laoshan? The hike to the top looks interesting. Is it worth it and how long will it take. Are there lifts cable cars that can bring you up as well?

it usded 1 or half day there up to a routh you choose. You can take a bus from ticken gate for 20 minute then take a cabin(40-60 RMB) 10 minute after that hike to the top around 1-1.30 hrs. There have beautiful viwe and fresh air on the top.Recomment to go in eary morning.

I'm a little confused about some of the procedures for Laoshan mountain and the various routes. I understand how to get to Laoshan by city bus, and then you pick one of 3 routes to areas that interest you. I see each route as having several points of interest, such as Taiqing Palace, Yakou Temple, etc. But does the bus physically stop at each of these points of interests and let people off? Do you need to tell the bus driver where you want to get off in advance? Or does it take you to the top, then you can walk to the different points of interest on your way back? I would greatly appreciate any info on the subject, as I've found widely different information from English websites and cannot read Chinese. Thanks!

I will admit the information available in various places is confusing and different names may be used for each of the attractions. There are two attractions accessed from the ocean side and one gets to the Tourist Service Center by CITY buses 304 and 104. The two attractions on the coast are (simply) the top of the mountain and the waterfall with Tao Temple. In both instances, a PARK bus will transport you from the Tourist SErvice Area into the park but in no attraction does any bus take you to the top of the mountain. There is a cable car that will take you from the parking lot at the TOP of the MOUNTAIN section to a higher point but understand, all three attractions are strenuious climbs on very long and steep stairs. At the Tourist Service area, the Top of Mountain tickets are sold tat the ticket counter to the left and the Waterfall and temple section tickets are sold at the counter to your right.
The Beijiushui Scenic River CITY 311 bus takes you to another Tourist Service Area on the west side of the Laoshan Scenic Area(next to the last bus stop on the route), Understand, LSA is 446 square kilometers or 172 square miles of mountain area. after buying tickets, one boards a city bus that runs from the Tourist Service Area to the Park Entrance. Once again, the bus leaves you at the entrance and you climb many, many stairs. .
I have been to all three and climbed all the steps, some of the replies here make me suspect some of the respondents did not do the hikes because the park buses do not climb to the top, anywhere.
