This is a an urban park so don’t expect peace and quiet. It is a great way to see the people use the park to exercise, practice juggling, martial arts, dancing, and play board games. One gets to see how the ordinary folks hanging out. There’s hiking trails up the hill to get an expansive view of Urumqi.

The People's Park, or previously known as West Park (Xi Gongyuan) is next to the bridge or Er Daqiao. Like all the public facilities in Urumqi the park is protected by police, and metal detectors. It opens at 9 am, and closes at 8 pm though closes earlier in winter. The park is usually full of people walking, exercising (Taichi etc) dancing, singing, with a very few jogging. If you circle the park from the main entrance counter clockwise then you'll come across the tables where people are selling stones, bracelets etc. There are the few people practicing calligraphy on the pavement using water brushes. You can cross the various bridges, and walk through numerous pavilions. There are a couple of huge petrified tree trunks in the middle of the park. And there's the obligatory statue of the famous poet Li Bai. The children's rides run in the holiday periods. And you can skate on the lake in winter. Bring some food for the gold fish. If you want to join in the dancing, then come in the evening. It seems to be mainly Uighur ethnic dancing with intricate hand movements.

日曜日の昼下がりに行きました.家族連れがピクニックをしていたり,老年の方が中国将棋に夢中になっていたりと賑わっていました.中国各地にある人民公園をさほど変わらない景色でした.

Peoples Park is probably the oldest park in Urumqi. It is easily reached by bus or taxi. Our hotel was within walking distance and we strolled the park a few times in the afternoon. The northern entrance to the park reminded us of the Shaanxi Mosque design. We had to go through the security checks before entering the park. The first thing that you will see is the huge lake and paddle boats. The water didn't seem very clean, but people were enjoying the lake activities. There are many squirrels in the trees and along the paths.

We were surprised by the many craft vendors in the park. To the right of the lake are a few temple buildings, in front of which is a statue of Ji Yun, who was a Qing scholar in the 18th century. He wrote extensively on Chinese life in the Xinjiang Region. The main attraction of the park is the temple. It is currently being restored so we were unable to get good photos. The Qing architectural design has been maintained, and it is one of the few buildings in Urumqi which have this design. A statue of Zhang Jingchou, who is another Qing era scholar stands in front of the temple.

The park has had many names, as it was originally named Jianhu Park in 1912, West Lake Park, Dihua Park and Zhongshan Park. The temple was closed by the government in 1949, and the park renamed Peoples Park. Attractions near to the park include Red Hill and Yao Mo Shan.

There are people doing every exercise you can imagine -- jogging, walking, taiji, swords, dancing, ping-pong. The park is clean. There are children areas if you have your little ones with you. Come early in the morning and enjoy the flowers and peace.

入口をはいってすぐに大きな池があり、その岸辺の寺や橋といった伝統的な建造物と、そのすぐ後ろの近代的な高層ビルが、面白いコントラストで、写真映えします。

Renmin Park ( People's Park ) in Urumqi a a pleasant green space close to the center of the city. Its well used by locals of all ages and especially popular with elderly practicing Chinese calligraphy, playing checkers or participating in the public dancing. If you are in the Park around 3pm you can participate in the public dance held for locals, or anyone who is in the mood. The park has lots of green space, places to sit and relax, and is a good escape from the traffic and construction activity that is Urumqi in May 2018.

バス乗り場から近くにあったため訪問。簡単に言うと、どこにでもある中華公園。ウルムチらしいことは特に感じられない。

The People's park is nice, you see a lot of locals. Everything is very outdated so that's a bit disapointing.
